Tracking BBT in 1st Trimester?

Hi Ladies,

Are any of you still continuing with BBT tracking after you got your BFP? This is my first pregnancy so I'm wondering if I should continue or not. I've read that you should put down your thermometer or else any fluctuations would drive you crazy! But I feel like I should be temping still in case I see a sudden drop in temp I should be prepared for bad news. I'm only 4 weeks + 2 days so I'm still way early in the game!

Re: Tracking BBT in 1st Trimester?

  • I'm guilty of continuing to temp...I had stopped for a few days but take it either every day or every other day the past several days. I'll be 6 weeks tomorrow and it's my first pregnancy as well. So far I haven't had any fluctuations that would worry me. I say just go with your instincts and if it makes you feel better to keep temping for now I say go for it.

  • I stopped temping right after getting my BFP. I've read you should stop for the exact reasons you state. Pregnancy already drives us to be crazy so why add another factor in to help continue the crazy?

  • I stopped temping like 4 days after my positive. I knew if my temperature went down I would worry even if it was just a normal fluctuation.

  • Just stop temping.  You will drive yourself crazy if you continue to temp.

  • Yeah... I think I would stop after my Dr's appointment tomorrow when she can confirm I'm indeed pregnant (even though I've had 10+ bfp strips to tell me). Everything is so new to me  :D. I don't feel any different so sometimes I need something "to see" just so remind me I'm still pregnant! I'm so excited to see the progress in the next coming weeks/months. Totally a pregnancy newbie here!

  • @YorkieLove83 I have had stomach issues and cramping (which every time is BM related), so I have continued temping for the last few days. Temp was trending down for two days and I was worried until it jumped .6 degrees this morning. I'm done now! Unfortunately I won't be seeing a doc until 8+ weeks. I might try SIL's practice, which is in the building next to my docs (both are directly across the street from the hospital) and see if I could get in sooner.
It's funny how it's the little things in life that mean the most...not where you live, or what you drive, or the price tag on your clothes... There's no dollar sign on a piece of mind, this I've come to know! *ZBB*

  • I took my temp a day or two after BFP, but my real guilty pleasure is POAS every other day to see the line get darker
  • Same! I have a bathroom drawer stashed of progressively positive pee sticks lol  :p

  • I have decided to stop temping - I really don't want to stress myself out anymore than necessary. I'm already paranoid because of a previous loss of mine. However, that doesn't mean I won't take another test before my upcoming appointment.
