GTKY What's your biggest pet peeve about the holidays

How far along are you? 16 weeks

How big is baby? Avocado

Appointments this week? Not until 12/20

Sex of Baby? Don't know yet. I refer to it as a boy just from a hunch.

Symptoms? Omg the worst lately has been itchy nipples. I'm slathering on cocoa butter every night. It's so annoying!

Rant/Rave/Questions? Total rave today: my coworker gave me a fetal doppler and I heard the heartbeat at home tonight! It was super easy to find, and I'm thrilled that I don't have to worry between appointments anymore. I'm going to limit myself to once or twice a week but I'm so tempted to just keep listening.

GTKY What's your biggest pet peeve about the holidays: I could post something serious about consumerism and excess, but instead I'm gonna go with diamond engagement ring commercials. They're just so cliche around the holidays.

Appointments this week? Thursday!! it feels like forever since the last check up. We should also get the results of our NIPT this week.

Symptoms? Still occasional MS, starting to get sciatic pains

Rant I'm kind of sad that I don't feel connected with this baby yet. Everything about this pregnancy (except the MS) has been completely different.
Rave I found maternity fleece leggings at Walmart for $8 a pair. Im mentally preparing myself for them to not work out since they seem too good to be true.

GTKY What's your biggest pet peeve about the holidays
Sometimes it can feel "too busy" getting from one gathering to another. We have, pre-kiddo, done 7-8 celebrations in 2 days. It irks me that aside from the holidays some of our relatives see no point in getting together which further intensifies my angst with only being somewhere for a short period of time.

How big is baby? Paper airplane

Appointments this week? I had the anatomy scan this morning! What they were able to measure looked good except his kidneys are somewhat dilated so we go back for a follow up ultrasound at 28 weeks for that and to look at the face because he was hiding his face against the placenta so the tech couldn't get a front view of it. DD had the kidney thing too and we had to go for a follow up u/s even after she was born but everything was normal so I'm crossing my fingers that the same happens this time.

Sex of Baby? Boy!

Symptoms? @kns1988 - I occasionally get the itchy nipples too! I read somewhere that not using soap to wash your breasts is the best thing when you are pregnant. I haven't this pregnancy and have noticed a huge difference in the level of itchiness from my previous pregnancies. Other symptoms include RLP and occasional nausea when I have to poop. And baby kicks.

Rant/Rave/Questions? I have a rave! As of Friday, I have been feeling baby regularly throughout the day! Even today during the u/s I could see his feet kicking and I would feel the kick. It's great and brings comfort to feel him regularly!

GTKY What's your biggest pet peeve about the holidays? Excessive commercialism.

Symptoms? being kicked, kicked, kicked; the scaliest, driest skin I've ever seen! sharp pains in boobs, super tender nipples

Sex of baby: Girl!

Symptoms: I have a cold. It has been awful due to lack of medications. I think I am on the upswing though so that's exciting.

R/R/Q's: I am so excited bc we have held out on DH extended family and we are announcing to them this coming weekend at their family Christmas!

Holiday pet peeve: I can't stand when family members cannot even try to accommodate the plans
of others. We have one on DH side and one on my side that always have to make holiday planning uber hard bc their plans are always concrete and not even a little flexible!

@kns1988 I hear ya on the Doppler thing! I try to limit myself to once a week too. Since I've been so sick I have been wanting to check with my Doppler on the regular. One thing that has helped me to prevent checking multiple times per day is when I find a good heart beat I record it on my phone so I can listen to it again and again and I can share it with DH if he wasn't there when I listened.

Appointments this week? Nope, not until after Christmas.

Sex of Baby? My last appointment the OB said she was almost certain it was a girl, but we'll know for sure at the anatomy scan.

Symptoms? I've been feeling a lot more energetic, but have major RLP pain.

Rant/Rave/Questions? I still can't feel the baby regularly, but sometimes she kicks me so hard that I actually jump and look like a lunatic.

GTKY What's your biggest pet peeve about the holidays? Car commercials. Who are all these people buying each other Mercedes for Christmas?

Symptoms? I'm just so tired! I also have so little motivation, I need my motivation back to get work completed!! I also get this weird lower back pain... I get adjustments every week and it's still not getting better.

A MIL annoyance... She is hosting Christmas for my FIL's side of the family, she is not happy about it. So she decided to make dinner easy and just order subs.... My husband's cousin is a vegetarian, so she is making sure all the sides are meatless, pasta salad, chopped salad and making a big deal of it texting me to make my pasta salad with meat on the side, checking if I think there is enough options for the vegetarian... I'm over here like umm... I'm prego with your grandchild and can't do cold cuts, what am I eating?

She has also made multiple comments suggesting that no mothers and daughters have good relationships, that I should be prepared... WTF Can we wait till I have given birth to pass judgements on my relationship with my daughter.

GTKY What's your biggest pet peeve about the holidays- Lately I feel like people are loosing the excitement for Christmas, my family has done away with gifts for basically everyone. They try to do a grab bag, but it's giftcards and boring. I loved when we did the white elephant grab bag with the games where you could steal. It was fun to have a few crappy gifts mixed in with good ones. I personally love buying presents and everyone else doesn't want to since it's too hard to figure stuff out.

@Cubslove12 I know what you mean with the gifts! We do a dice game every year that has a $5 gift limit. H and I try to find awesome things, everybody else buys candy. It has become so boring we no longer enjoy finding gifts. What happened to all the cheer and fun???

@Cubslove12 Ugh I hate the lack of gift participation too! I love to find the perfect gift and put a lot of thought into it! We do Secret Santa and everyone supplies a list of ideas and most of my in-laws put "gift cards". Umm that's like just giving you cash basically, where's the fun in that!

Appointments this week?
Tomorrow we meet with the MFM doctor to discuss the blood work that came back as an increased risk for Down Syndrome. I have been very anxious and nervous since getting results but the past day or two I've kind of come to peace with myself. I'm hoping tomorrow goes well and they agree to further blood testing first.

Sex of Baby?
Boy!

Symptoms?
Pretty much non-existent which is great. I think my MS has finally gone away for the most part and I think my appetite is starting to come back!

Rant/Rave/Questions?
I'm flying by myself with my 4 and 2 year old this week. It's a three hour flight so I'm hoping I can make it the whole time without needing to use the restroom. Because have you ever tried to squeeze into a airplane bathroom with two kids? Not fun.

Appointments this week? unfortunately, no! But I have two anterior placentas and have barely felt anything so I caved and will finally be getting a doppler this week. My next one is in 2 weeks still.
