Re: Weekend Chatter 12/10

  • Well to start our weekend off my dd has been up since 530. Wtf. One of my husbands friends is coming to help him run a gas line to the garage. I will be watching his 10 month twins, my 20 month and a 4 yr old. send help.

That's all I've got for now. If I can make it thru today I'll call it a miracle.

  • My dd is already awake but thank god she woke up DH up and I can lay in bed for a while (of course I'm awake tho!). My DH has to fix our garbage disposal and I have to finish Christmas shopping today at some point.  I also have a birthday party at 1 and my DH's work christmas party at 5:30. I'm tired just thinking about it all which is why I'm still gunna lay in bed for a few minutes or hours! Lol
  • Apparently me saying "I definitely want to try to sleep in tomorrow" = me waking up at 6:45 and not being able to fall back to sleep. Oh well. Trying to wrap up Christmas shopping and get some prep done for my whole family coming into town!

no big plans... wrapping christmas presents, perhaps hitting up the grocery store.... pj's and movies... and anxiously awaiting NIPT results hopefully Monday....

Just curious.... Has anyone bought any baby stuff yet?  I bought a toy awhile ago, a little bear with a blankie that says giants fan or something (hubby loves the giants).  But that's it.  My sister bought us a couple onesies and i know my MIL Is stocking up like crazy, but i just can't bring myself to buy anything....  i dunno... is that weird?
  • I am getting my hair done this morning finally!  Tonight is my work Christmas party and tomorrow my husband and I are going out without kids to finish shopping.  Tomorrow night is the annual holiday boat parade.  My parents and aunt and uncle live on the intercostal and every year the boats get decorated and parade around the water.  It is a lot of fun.

I don't think that's weird at all. For me, until I can consistently feel the baby move it seems pretty surreal.
  • My best friend is getting married this weekend in Mexico. We had to cancel bc of zika. Im trying to fill my weekend so Im not too disappointed. Yesterday I took my 89 year old grandmother Christmas shopping. Today we are meeting family in NYC so the kids can see the model trains set up for Christmas. Its a great weekend but its not a beach in Mexico watching my bestie get married.

Spending some time toasty in bed trying to finish up baby blanket #1 as part of our pregnancy reveal surprise gift to our parents. We've got some errands to run and my office Christmas party is tonight. I'm hoping to rally for it... Bandaged hands from my burns and all!

  • @JessErinF I haven't bought anything yet either, I was waiting to be out of the first trimester. I also have a brother with kids so I don't want to buy too much until I know what we will get from him. I may buy a little onesie or something though.
  • @sevenn The blanket looks great! How's the healing coming along?

I'm working today. I don't remember the last time I worked a Saturday... But with end of the year compliance upon us, it's a mad scramble to make sure everyone has finished their training. Just hoping today's class runs smoothly!!

  • @silliegirlie143 - it's slow :( I've been able to scale the bandage on my right hand down to a tegaderm bandage but my left hand is requiring a full wrap. And it's in that horribly itchy phase. Hopefully in another week I can go bandage free

  • @sevenn Ugh! The itching!! I feel for you. Hope this next week speeds by and you get good news on progress (and a smaller bandage)

  • We got our Christmas tree and decorated it last night and I was asleep by 9:30.

Today we have my DD's Christmas dance recital in the afternoon and my fiance's fire department annual dinner (boo to open bars where you can't drink.) I'm stressing over what to wear. It's a dress up event but not too fancy. I don't want to buy anything new but I also think everything I have isn't going to look good with my belly.
  • I'm in survival mode here. Hubby had flu last weekend. Gave it to our one year old son. He also is teething and has an uper respiratory infection. I took him to peds this morning to their Saturday ill child clinic. And he got sent home with antibiotics for a double ear infection. On top of that, we are getting ready for a snow storm that could bring 6-10" of snow. My husband plows for our hospital and some surrounding businesses so I'm going to be a single parent for a couple of days. I travel for work to different dairy farms and my work on Monday is supposed to take me 1.5hrs away with an arrival time of 5:30am. I'm seriously contemplating canceling Monday because I don't want to risk my life and my employees lives to go see some cows in a winter storm. Ugh.

Well, I'm supposed to have girls night out tonight at Cheesecake Factory, but I was up all night with a pukey toddler. I'll be bummed if I don't get Limoncello Creme Torte Cake!

@JessErinF, I actually just purchased two outfits, bottles and pacifiers on Thursday. I can't help but feel like buying early might jinx me, but oh well.

    edit: spelling
  • @JessErinF On Wednesday I bought a convertible basinette/portable crib that I had my eye on since the beginning and was on sale. I only felt comfy doing so after we got our NIPT tests back and had our NT scan.  We've gotten a few little things, but that is it. I really don't want to overbuy things for this baby!!!

This weekend we have our work Christmas party at a resort about an hour away. This year my wings are a bit clipped, so it isn't quite so crazy as other years. We are getting the same storm as @kassyfry so concerned about the travel home!!!
    Pregnancy Ticker
  • @JessErinF I bought a set of onesies in the first week or two under the advice of my therapist to try and do something that made my pregnancy feel more real and inspired hope, rather than the "what if" dread I was living with the first few weeks. This is my first pregnancy but for whatever reason I had convinced myself early on that it wouldn't go well. Since then I haven't bought anything but I don't think it's weird to want to wait. I think there will come a time where it feels right to you to start buying.

  • I'm joining the "sick toddler" gang.

DS woke up with what I call his "sick eyes"...just didn't look right. After playing for a little while he started sounding hoarse and croupy (he's notorious for bad bad croup and respiratory retractions).
Took his temp and it's 102. Planning on spending my night in a steamy bathroom praying we avoid an ER trip.

Juuuuust awesome. DH is around this weekend though so at least I'm not solo!

@JessErinF I put a deposit on the last Bumbleride Indie Twin (in black ofcourse) at a retailer that I will be going to after Christmas (I want to test drive it first). I feel weird and guilty. I normally wait until that 20 week mark to start really prepping.

We are under an "extreme cold" warning, so we are hiding in our house. We crafted some glitter snowflakes, listened to my kids fight like maniacs for an hour, made coffee and are watching the food network. I'm loving this lazy weekend. I also plan on wrapping the rest of our Christmas presents tonight!
  • We had DH's company Christmas party last night so his parents took DS for the night. We actually slept in til 9! Glooooorious! We went and picked him up and now I'm hanging on the couch watching Fuller House in my sweats. Lazy Saturday for the win!
  • @Knottie42089123, it's so nice to feel human again, huh? Glad 1st tri is wearing off.
  • I spent Thursday and Friday quite sick and useless.  I felt better today and we packed up the kiddos for a visit to my folks up north.  Now everyone in the house is asleep except me (how is that for a change of pace!).  I'm kinda loving this and don't want to go to bed no matter how tired I am getting since this never happens.
  • Why do I have to wake up my daughter during the week. It she was up by 630 yesterday and 550 today?  I just wanted to sleep at least till 7.

  • For starters I'm going to maintain that the size was mislabeled at Tj Maxx.  When I put on (read- took about 20 minutes to inch them up my legs) my black tights for the office Christmas party I thought I'd be okay.  But after a 30 minute drive my uterus/bump/bloat/etc was HATEFUL and since I'd only marginally shaved my legs I had to keep them on so the first thing I did when I got to the host's house was ask for a pair of scissors and I cut those puppies a good 6" down the front.  AHHH breathing room

DH is working this weekend. Saturday I took DS to Disney on ice which was exhausting. Today I am going to attempt to clean, so we can pack this week since we aren't moving Saturday. DH also found out he is being moved off patrol after Christmas, so now he will be home every Sunday and every other Saturday. SO excited. Plus I am now 14 weeks so I feel comfortable telling people. This weekend is one of anticipation.

  • I haven't bought anything for this baby yet, but I have been keeping an eye on a couple big ticket items I want in case they go on sale. I don't need a lot because we have everything dd still, but we have a much bigger place now and I really want a reclining glider for this baby now that we have the space for it and I will need another camera for our monitor.
  • At the work Christmas party last night, was trying to find a dress that fit, but none of my black party dresses fit my pregnancy boobs. I may have cried a little bit. Upside we were huge winners in the raffle tho and won an Apple Watch and a crock pot. Woohoo!!!

  • I haven't bought anything new for the baby. I have all my things left from DD, but I have a list of things that I'd like to have this time around. Plus, I'm going to wait as well to make sure everything from the Harmony test comes back clear, and to find out gender.
I'm in bed today. It's one of the worst morning sickness days I've had. I feel terrible.
  • We had my son's 5th birthday party yesterday.  Just family and there were 11 kids running around our townhouse destroying everything for the afternoon.  By the end of the party, I regretted telling our boys we would go see Christmas lights last night, because all I wanted to do was sleep.  But I'm glad we went, even if it was 25 degrees out last night.

I'm at work today, luckily it's quiet and I can just kind of sit and not do much of anything.  We're supposed to get some snow tonight so I'm secretly praying for a snow day because I really just want a day to sleep.

  • @awillis13 I would kill for 25 degrees right now; it's been below zero for weeks now and it's getting (c)old. Christmas lights always make things better though. :)

Finally got to sleep in this morning, and woke up to DH bringing me hot chocolate and toast which was the most magical sight at that moment (I was starving). Going to a makeover (Mary Kay/LuLaRoe) party my BFF is throwing this afternoon with my mom and sister so it'll be nice to see everyone. Otherwise, copious amounts of lounging to be had!
  • We took apart the crib (DD was using it as a daybed), took apart the queen bed, switched rooms with them, and put them both back together along with taking most of the stuff out of DD's room and then putting some of it back. I am exhausted. The look on DD's face when she saw her bigger bed made it all worth it.

  • Today was one of those infamous days in Houston, where you run your heater and your AC in the same day. Uuuggghhhh. Just went on a walk in shorts and tshirt. Where is winter??
