I'm feeling better as far as my back pain goes, but now I've been dealing with insomnia. I wake up 3-4 times a night, wide awake, then struggle to stay awake from the moment I get to work until my head hits the pillow at bedtime. Oh and I randomly puked this morning. I thought drinking some mineral water before my coffee sounded good, but once it was in my stomach, my body had a different idea. Ohhhh pregnancy!
I wake up every night somewhere between 2:00-2:30 AM in a cold sweat, and then it takes me an hour or so to go back to sleep. That is especially awful because I have to be up at 5:00 to get ready for work, and there's been so much going on lately that I'm not getting to bed until 11-12:00, so my sleep just SUCKS right now. Last night DS kept having bad dreams from like 10-12:00, so I kept having to go in there and rub his back. If our bed wasn't so high off the ground I would have just brought him in there to sleep with me.
(PS, in case anyone wonders, DH travels a lot for work and is gone this week, so he's not just a lazy bum that's not helping out...most of the time )
^I've been having sleeping problems again too. It's been fine for a few weeks, but now I feel like I'm sleeping so lightly, I wake up every time I move, and have a hard time going back to sleep. Last night I woke up around 4:30 and couldn't go back to sleep, which sucked because I had an hour left before my alarm went off.
I've been getting really lightheaded after meals. I think most of this has to do with being out of town and eating three larger meals instead of lots of snacks all day. Still it's not fun. I've also had some brown spotting which was terrifying. At my last appointment my doctor said that the baby is implanted low in the uterus so she wasn't concerned when I called but that doesn't mean I'm totally chill with it either....
Blood. Every time I blow my nose. Which is often thanks to allergies, and then that makes it worse. My sinuses hurt from the dry air too. I need a humidifier.
@wagnerw@hgrich same here, ugh. Where do you guys live? I'm in Colorado so it's super dry all year round, but the winters are especially rough. We recently got a whole-house humidifier put in...hopefully that will help because the number of bloody noses I have had in the past month is ridiculous.
I think I started getting braxton hicks contractions...and they are totally freaking me out. My doctor said to let her know if I have more than 4 per hour. So far that hasn't happened but I swear it happened at least 5 times yesterday. Didn't hurt, just felt like my whole abdomen got really tight and hard. I know they start around 20 weeks and mine started around 23 so it's pretty normal but still....not a fan.
@kitkat8387 Ugh I'm sorry you're having those already. I don't think I've had any and don't look forward to it. I have had cramping after sex that lasted like an hour and freaked me out but no contractions with it.
I live in Missouri. It's so dry. I've never lived further north or higher altitude to compare it to, but I spend every single winter itching all over and with bloody noses, and of course both are worse with pregnancy. And summers in MO are extremely humid. But I would take that any day over winter.
Ok here's a fun new one: I experienced a bright happy, dancing aura for about 20 minutes and couldn't see out of those parts of my eyes. Freaked me out but it seems like ocular migraines aren't uncommon in pregnancy too. A while later I got a mild headache that I'm hoping doesn't blow up into full migraine. I used to get menstrual migraines, so I'm not surprised at this. I've just never had the partial loss of vision for 20 minutes before. So many new things to learn about pregnancy. Hahaha. Anyone else?
@HGRich actually, yes! I'm right there with you. Dancing spots nearly all afternoon for me. I can still see fine but they follow wherever I move my eyes. I got them with migraines before pregnancy as well. No headache came for me.
I'm upping the salt in my water to see if that will help!

@HGRich Have you had migraine with aura before pregnancy? If not, I'd consider checking your BP if/when it happens (home cuff? local pharmacy?). It can be no big deal but is sometimes related to higher BP. I get auras but thankfully not while pregnant. Such a pain
@mdlorenz I thought of that. Only occasional auras before pregnancy. I don't have an at home cuff but thought about calling my doctor for his thoughts tomorrow. But my bp has been excellent every time it's been checked at my appointments and I have no swelling or anything else.
The back pain! Ugh. It's always on one side. It switches depending on the day. I get this loving shoot of pain randomly when I'm walking.
Yesterday when I woke up I had this aching muscle on the right side of my back, so I switched sides and that made it worse. It was so bad! I finally did some stretches to make it a little better..
I've also had some pain on my lower right abdominal area. Yesterday it kind of freaked me out but I think it's normal. Maybe from stretching? It feels like a pulled muscle, but unlike RLP it's constant. It also sometimes hurts there when I urinate, which is really weird. My DH was concerned, but I don't have any symptoms with it to be worried about it being serious (ie fever, vomiting, bleeding, cramping). Does this sound normal?
@SDSwenson I don't know if it's normal but I've had that on the right side. I asked my doctor and he had nothing to offer in the way of suggestions other than ligaments and joints. When you say it hurts there when you urinate, does it kind of feel like it's the weight shifting as your bladder empties? Because I ache afterwards sometimes too, both as my bladder fills and when I empty it and I figured it was just the pain from everything shifting around in there. Don't know. Had it for weeks though and no concerns have arisen.
Yes @HGRich that's exactly what it sounds like! It doesn't hurt when I start, but when my bladder is almost empty it hurts! OK I'm glad I'm not the only one!
Since I know you all were on the edges of your seats (lol), I went to Walgreens and got my bp checked. It was fine. I'm guessing the aura was normal migraine and probably hormone induced rather than blood pressure which is good. But hopefully this doesn't become a common thing. Losing part of my vision for 20 minutes is weird, and wouldn't be fun if it happened while driving. Also called a nurse and she wasn't concerned other than to contact my primary care physician if migraines get worse. Sigh.
