DR 12.5

First full week of December and I already feel like it's almost over.  any one else?

Appointments this week? My next one isn't until the glucose test and I almost want to start a new thread on that so we can all share tips and tricks or support.  I am slightly nervous about mine.

  • @Taylor72 I think a separate thread for glucose tests is a great idea! I'm nervous about mine too and would love to read others' experiences!

  • @SnarkasaurusRex why would going past 40 weeks change a VBAC?  I don't know much about that, just being nosy :)

So glad everyone is having good appointments and scans! I can't wait til we switch to biweekly appointments!

  • @cafedisco not sure if she has other reasoning but my dr won't let you go overdue for a VBAC being induced greatly increases risk of needing a csection

  • Had my regular appointment. My BP was a bit better at 130/72, which made my doctor happy. She read the results of my anatomy scan. Everything looked good, but I do need to go back on the 27th to see if they can get better pictures of the spine (baby was being stubborn). I am measuring about 2 weeks ahead, which I know means very little right now. My doctor did ok going ahead with the three hour glucose test instead of starting with the 1 hour because I failed the 1 hour test with both of my previous pregnancies. There was some concern because DS was so big at birth, but my doctor checked my glucose results from previous testing and everything was solidly normal, so the three hour test is more of a precaution. She thinks DS was big because he was my second and a boy (and big babies run in the family). So, everything looks good!

@cafedisco There's an increased risk for uterine rupture with births so close together when you go over the due date, as well as the general increased risk of needed a c-section due to other complications when you go over 40 weeks. We already agreed that no induction for this one either, because a lot of studies have shown that an induction with a VBAC increases the risk of uterine rupture as well.

Basically, to not get too into detail with DS's birth story, but my emergency c-section was a little rough because I was in labor when it happened, so she didn't get a nice, clean cut like she wanted. Checking on US, it looks like everything healed really well, but there is some lingering concern that I'm at an increases risk of uterine rupture anyway, so she doesn't want to push it.

ETA that I also sustained an injury to my pelvis when I was a teen and it was supposed to be spreading out, so my super tiny, super rigid pelvis also puts me at higher c-section risk.

  • Thanks for the info..I get a little geeked out by birth stuff!

@SnarkasaurusRex is there anything a chiro could do to help prepare your pelvis now and loosen things up? Also, sounds like we'll need to get your walking and ball bouncing and all that to make sure baby decides to come in that 39th week!

  • @cafedisco I doubt a chiro could do much...I went a couple of times last pregnancy and it never came up. I'll probably start going during third tri again, so I'll ask. After my injury happened I was told there was a surgical fix for it, but it involved breaking my hip and pelvis and resetting them, and ain't nobody got time for that.

  • I haven't had any fun appointments this week but I had go to the regular doctor because I randomly broke out in hives all over my body.  I have no idea why.  The doctor told me that they think my cold turned into pneumonia so I'm on some antibiotics for that and steroids for the hives.  I hate being on all this medication during pregnancy.  I know the doctor said it's fine but it still bothers me.  To top it off I haven't felt him kick yet so it just makes me more worried.  Ok that is it.  Just feel like i'm losing my mind.

  • @aboxofchocolates OMG that sounds rough. I hope the meds help and you can kick this quick.
