Mental Health Monday 12/05

I noticed this hasn't started this week. How's everyone doing?

I've been quite depressed. I have no energy to do anything and I feel guilty dropping it all on my husband. I feel depressed to begin with because of the hormonal changes and the anxiety from everything that needs to get done is just making it worse. I don't know how to lift myself up and function like a normal person.

Re: Mental Health Monday 12/05

  • @plumpous - my depression is always worse while pregnant. Its so awful. What helps when you are not pregnant? Exercise? Seeing friends?

As for me - we had a rough weekend that has made my anxiety just horrible. My FIL was basically handed a terminal diagnosis and its set off a wave of repercussions and worry. My husband and his dad are in business together so its a double whammy. DH is working his ass off and going up to see his dad as often as he can. I'm trying to hold our girls' lives in a normal rhythm and pull myself from the dredges of some terrible morning/all day sickness and exhaustion. And now it feels like I have extra pressure to stay pregnant and be something good and happy for the family to focus on after a year of terrible news.

  • @ladipale I'm so sorry to hear that. It must take a real heavy toll. Wishing everyone a lot of strength through this difficult time.

Thank you for your support. I don't think I've ever felt this depressed. I know that accomplishing things can help my anxiety but it's hard to get started.

  • @ladipale I'm so sorry to hear about your FIL. So much stress for you and your DH. Sending you love.

@plumpous Totally relate. I got really depressed during my first pregnancy (no meds). Now I take an antidepressant (and I did through my second pregnancy). I would be a wreck without it. That's just me though. Can you tell your doctor how you are feeling? I'm sure s/he would want to know, and might have some suggestions that would help. Accomplishing things is the hardest thing ever, when you're anxious/depressed. Such a shame spiral.

  • @plumpous - I agree with @tsarina - I wish I had spoke up during my first pregnancy about the way I was feeling... I was put on antidpressents shortly after birth of my first and was on them during my subsequent pregnancies (including now). but its so much better that my OB knows my mental health history - it has helped our relationship and my care tremendously.

Thanks for the good thoughts and hugs @SaphireSweetie88, @tsarina and @plumpous
