2: What are your goals for the week ahead? Continue to do a decent job of cutting junk out post-Thanksgiving, more walking/cardio, more weights

3: How have your last few weeks been in terms of your goals? Not too bad. Starting to get to the point where heavier cardio (cycling) becomes really exhausting if I push myself.  I've been walking quite a bit and trying to keep up with my weights/core exercises.

4: Discovered any new fitness challenges or needed modifications?  See above - heavier cardio is getting tougher. I've also needed to eat bigger breakfasts to avoid blood sugar crashes mid-morning in the last week.

5: How are/have you treated your self? Celebrate your body and its accomplishments!  Well, Thanksgiving was one huge treat! Seriously, I love Thanksgiving food. :)  Other than that, going out to dinner tomorrow night with the in-laws.

6: How are you doing mentally and emotionally this week as your body grows and changes?  Honestly, I've struggled a bit in this department and would love to hear from anyone else in a similar boat.  I'm up 17ish pounds at 22 weeks (not sure of the exact amt as I don't have an accurate pre-pregnancy weight).  I love my growing bump, and I'm a FTM so I don't really know how my body reacts to pregnancy, but from everything I've read my weight gain is high for a normal BMI.  I want to be healthy and feel like I'm doing an okay job at it, but I also feel like I can't control the situation and I'm struggling with that. (I feel so Type A saying that - ha!)

2: What are your goals for the week ahead? STOP. BEING. LAZY. IDK what is wrong with me...I can't find the energy to do ANYTHING once I get home from work. Granted, I am on my feet pretty much all day, but I'm not meeting my step goals. I keep telling myself that I am going to do a couple of rounds of 21 Day Fix to get some of my muscle tone back but I keep. not. doing. it. I'm so frustrated with myself right now.

3: How have your last few weeks been in terms of your goals? See above.

4: Discovered any new fitness challenges or needed modifications? My blood sugar is becoming more of an issue, too. I'm usually a coffee for breakfast person, but I'm getting to where I need food (and a lot of it!) in the morning or else I completely crash by 9 AM.

5: How are/have you treated your self? Celebrate your body and its accomplishments! Not especially. I did buy myself some Christmas Lularoe leggings. My SIL is getting married this weekend so I think I will be treating myself to some tasty food and dessert (and probs a glass of champagne!).

6: How are you doing mentally and emotionally this week as you body grows and changes?  Aside from being annoyed with myself, I'm doing pretty well.

7: Questions, Concerns, Rants, Raves, Randoms? If anyone knows the magic words to get me motivated to work out after 11 hour work days and herding a toddler all evening, I'd love to hear them!!

@schef070911 Honestly, weight gain is so varied for everyone that it's hard to pin down what "normal" is for a healthy BMI. Some people gain a lot, some people don't, even if they start at the same weight! It's all in how your body handles it. Just trust that your body is doing exactly what it needs to do for YOU, and if your doctor isn't worried, you shouldn't be either.

  • @SnarkasaurusRex Thanks!  Thankfully my OB has told me basically what you said - that she "noticed a jump" in weight between my 16 and 20 week appts but that women gain at different stages in pregnancy, and that it was normal to gain a lot of weight between some appts and less between others.  Trying to be in the habit of staying positive about my body so I can set a good example for baby girl!

Also, I also find that I am too tired to exercise after a long day of work (and I don't have a toddler as an excuse!) so I've been getting up early and doing it instead. It is hard to set that alarm 45 minutes earlier though! Haha

  • @schef070911 I used to be really good at getting up early and working out...but I have to leave for work by 6:45 at the latest, so in order for me to get a workout in, shower, eat, and get DS ready for daycare, I need to get up at like 4:00. I sleep through my alarm pretty much every time! That's my next plan of attack though...gotta see if I can just get back in that habit of getting up early like I did before I had kids and just get. it. done!

  • 1: How far along are you?
    20 weeks
2: What are your goals for the week ahead?
Keep running 5 days a week, 4-6 moles per day
3: How have your last few weeks been in terms of your goals?
Pretty good. I have been able to make all of my runs despite being super busy and planning around thanksgiving and family obligations.
4: Discovered any new fitness challenges or needed modifications?
I think that baby is how big enough that, depending on where he is positioned, he can ouch on my bladder which is really painful while running...even when u have just peed prior to working out.
5: How are/have you treated your self? Celebrate your body and its accomplishments!
    Lots of pie on Thanksgiving!
6: How are you doing mentally and emotionally this week as you body grows and changes?
Not super excited about my limited wardrobe now that I need to be wearing more and more maternity clothes.

  • @chelle087 I am super impressed with your running at 20 weeks!! You go girl!!  I hear you too about the maternity clothes.  I just got a big box of clothes from my SIL so everything is "new to me", but it was still kinda sad putting most of my old clothes away for a while.

  • @chelle087 Also impressed that you're still running! I regularly do half marathons when not pregnant, but the loosening of the joints that comes with pregnancy aggravates a hip and knee injury that I have, so running is too high impact for me right now. I miss it...this is my favorite weather to run in! Cold, but not freezing. So looking forward to getting back into it after this LO is here!

  • @schef070911 and @SnarkasaurusRex thanks! I am doing my best to keep with it. I have not really gotten over the fatigue ( and never did with my first) and the running helps combat the tiredness. I am hoping to continue for as long as I can even though I am slowing down quite a bit!
  • 1: How far along are you?
    23 weeks tomorrow
2: What are your goals for the week ahead?
try to find some weight lifting that works me more than what I'm doing and eat healthier.  I've done a lot better, but still have more to work on
3: How have your last few weeks been in terms of your goals?
I started going to the gym 3 weeks ago..it's been years!
4: Discovered any new fitness challenges or needed modifications?
Any cardio raises my heart rate and blood pressure too much so my OB has restricted me from all cardio :(  I've also found that any exercises that use my lower abdomen too much creates significant cramping in my back and front.  I can't do those either :(
5: How are/have you treated your self? Celebrate your body and its accomplishments!
Nothing really...I'm only 3 weeks in...I guess my form is getting better and I've upped the weight a bit (even though I'm not supposed to lift more than 20 lbs..it does nothing!)
6: How are you doing mentally and emotionally this week as you body grows and changes?
I had a freak out moment at my appointment last week.  I'm very overweight so my Dr. told me way in the beginning that he would like my weight gain to be minimal.  He didn't give me a specific number, but he told me that some women my size gain nothing, while others do gain some, and that I just need to keep it in check.  Up until my last appointment I gained nothing.  This last one I was up 4 lbs and it bothers me.  I know some of you are probably thinking only 4 lbs?! But I'm already over 300.  I was hoping my gain would be under 15 for the entire pregnancy, but I'm worried it won't be.  I need to continue my healthy breakfasts, lunches, and snacks, and really focus on dinner and no sugary drinks!

2: What are your goals for the week ahead? Be more careful of what I eat--more fruit and veggies and less sugar. Try some suggested exercises for pelvic pain. Focus on arms.

3: How have your last few weeks been in terms of your goals? I had such high expectations for the second trimester--that I'd have energy back and feel like walking a lot and trying yoga. But the pain I've been in has been crippling. I'm so frustrated. Like, walking might help, but too much walking will hurt a lot later. I haven't found the balance. And it's stressing me out because I wanted to be more fit before baby.

4: Discovered any new fitness challenges or needed modifications? I think I need to focus on building arm strength. If I can feel good about that I might stress less about the rest of me.

5: How are/have you treated your self? Celebrate your body and its accomplishments! I'm allowing myself to nap, knowing that this is the only pregnancy where that will be an option. Haha. Next time, this one will be a toddler who won't let me nap. :)

6: How are you doing mentally and emotionally this week as you body grows and changes? I am doing fine about my body. I have only gained one pound from pre pregnancy weight so I'm not feeling big. Right now at least. I'll probably gain a lot toward the end and get allllll the stretch marks. Otherwise just frustrated and kind of embarrassed that my pelvic and back muscles are so weak that I'm in this much pain already.

7: Questions, Concerns, Rants, Raves, Randoms? I hate cold weather! Not only do I not want to go out and exercise, I don't even want to leave my warm pile of blankets on the couch at home because DH likes to keep it chilly in the house.....makes me really lazy.
  • 1: How far along are you? 22 weeks

2: What are your goals for the week ahead? Get a few extra walks in.. eating more fruit (I love veggies and fruit juice but just don't eat a lot of actual fruit.)

3: How have your last few weeks been in terms of your goals? Ive been having a hard time being active.. it's cold and I'm so tired still.

4: Discovered any new fitness challenges or needed modifications? I haven't done much so not really but bending seems to be getting hard.

5: How are/have you treated your self? Celebrate your body and its accomplishments! I've been taking it easy when I need to. My husband's been great about helping in the mornings when I need to sleep in or doing extra so I can sit.

6: How are you doing mentally and emotionally this week as you body grows and changes? doing better than I thought I would.. I've gained 8 lbs but very steadily and pretty much all in the belly so I'm happy with that.

7: Questions, Concerns, Rants, Raves, Randoms?  Braxton Hicks.. and far more than I thought would happen at this stage. They didn't happen until last few weeks with my daughter.. they don't hurt but they definitely stop me in my tracks at least twice a day.
