signs of an ear infections

Hi ladies!  For those that have had children, what were there signs of an ear infection?  My daughter has a terrible cold but my sitter has concerns that she is showing signs of an ear infection also.  The doctors would prefer her to wait it out a day and see her tomorrow if we feel that it is necessary.  Thanks ladies!

Re: signs of an ear infections

  • Pulling on her ears is the biggest one for us. Sometimes combined with being extra sleepy/cranky. I think you said she already has some cold stuff going on, so it could all be really similar symptoms, especially if she has any sort of drainage in her ears from being stuffy. Poor thing:( I hope she feels better soon!

  • We rarely have symptoms, but he has pulled on his ear when there's an infection (this is also a teething symptom, so we usually disregard it). They can also have fevers, discharge from the ear, extra fussiness, etc.

They have usually accompanied other things - like we took him in for a very low-grade fever (which we only did since we were leaving for vacation the next day), once for a cough that wouldn't leave and most recently for pinkeye. But sometimes they've just shown up with no other symptoms.

  • Along w/ all the above signs...my niece always got ear inefections and my SIL said she would know because her ears actually stunk.
