How far along are you? 16 weeks

How big is baby? Dill pickle or avocado

Appointments this week? I just had one yesterday with my midwife. Everything looks great still.

Symptoms? Nausea is getting better all the time. I keep feeling belly flutters, but as a first time mom, I don't know if this is baby or gas bubbles.

Rant/Rave/Questions? Not right now.

I've been careful to only talk details with people I'm close to, and the only advice I've gotten so far has been tips for dealing with nausea, which has been helpful. I know it'll happen eventually.

How big is baby? This size of a game console controller.

Appointments this week? No, I got in early last week! 2.0 is a boy!

Symptoms? Just exhaustion

Rant/Rave/Questions? Not really! My doctor pointed out that the baby is breached. I was only 16+5 when I went. There is so much time for him to turn. I think it was an obnoxious comment.

If so, please share the most annoying things you've been told by others. I will have to think about this one. I am sure I got some with my first. I haven't gotten a whole lot of advice this time around. You know people have already said "one of each" how perfect and blah blah blah when we announced the baby is boy. We would be done if this baby was a girl. Whatevs.

Appointments this week?: I went this past Monday and everything is looking good so far!

Symptoms?: Headaches are still awful. Nausea & trouble sleeping ugh.

Rant/Rave/Questions?: My boss has 4 kids and has been REALLY understanding when I don't feel well. It's so nice to have a boss who gets it!

If so, please share the most annoying things you've been told by others.: When I was pregnant with my first daughter, people would ask us what we were "going to do with our cats". I was like "Umm, they're not going anywere....?" People would reply with why you shouldn't have cats and babies blah blah blah. Luckily I didn't even entertain the idea of giving them up and they have been wonderful with my daughter and she loves them back.

How big is baby? Sugar glider, artichoke

Appointments this week? Tuesday! I have my anatomy scan that morning.

Symptoms? Not much really. I get light headed occasionally. Also the peeing a little when sneezing or coughing is getting old.

Rant/Rave/Questions? I've been trying to convince my husband that we need a second car. Last night was the final straw when he slept through his alarm, which left me stranded at work and DS stranded at daycare! Luckily my work friend was able to take me to daycare and then home (she had just gotten a convertible carseat for her 11 mo old thank goodness). I told him enough was enough, we are getting another car. We shall see. I'm hoping we can go looking this weekend.

I haven't received any unsolicited advice as of yet which is weird. I feel like I got a lot when I was pregnant with DS.

Appointments this week? None officially but I will get blood drawn for AFP testing.

Symptoms? Tossing and turning so much at night, fatigue and more baby movement!

Rant/Rave/Questions? I'm ready for my solid baby bump and no bloated jiggly belly.

How big is baby? Apple, or pack of Skittles...which are not the same size at all...haha

Appointments this week? Check up on Monday

Symptoms? I caught a stomach bug from DS (which I thought was lactose intolerance on his end...turns out, I was wrong), so I spent last night puking and...running to the bathroom. So that's been pleasant. Pregnancy related, not much!

Rant/Rave/Questions? Nothing I can think of!

GTKY: There is an old man at work who insists (as he insisted last pregnancy) that swimming is unsafe while pregnant. I do not know what his reasoning is, and I've tried to explain that it's actually one of the best exercises for pregnancy, but he insists. Now, it just amuses me.

Symptoms? Nothing really. Noticed putting socks and boots on is a bit harder. It just feels different.

Rant/Rave/Questions? I love when I do feel baby move, cant wait to feel it more frequently.

Best size comparison I found is a chicken breast! Haha

None this week.

Symptoms?
Frequent peeing, easily dehydrated (it's amazing how one day of not staying on top of hydration can really set me back), stronger movements, restless sleep, and last night and this morning I had leg and foot cramps-probably from not drinking enough water.

I absolutely hated getting advice about dealing with morning sickness, because for me it was more than just typical "morning sickness". I still need medication to manage it and I'm 18 weeks. Somebody once told me to snif a lemon. I know it comes from a good place, but it still annoyed me. We've told some people the two names we've decided on and one person flat out said they didn't like the name(which I expected). So I just told them that it's a good thing their opinion doesn't matter then. I've also received major side eye and judgement for taking medication for morning sickness and I just flat out tell them if they're not in my situation they can't chime in. Haha, I shut down unsolicited advice pretty darn quickly most of the time.

Appointments this week? Midwife appt on Dec 6th and hopefully scheduling an ultrasound soon!

Symptoms? A little bit of nausea still, still a bit tired, but getting my energy back, no flutters yet...but I'm not really sure what they feel like.

Rant/Rave/Questions? I really want to feel those flutters. Is there a good position to be in to be able to feel them better?

I've had a lot of unsolicited advice from people about parenting, and a lot of it is a lot of "older school" parenting practices. It actually makes me a bit worried because I know I'm going to be doing things a lot differently as a parent and I worry about facing criticism.

The only advice my mom always gives me is not to do the preventative things we do nowadays. Like: "Why do you have to have ultrasounds so often. We didn't have many of those when I was pregnant with you. Why would you even consider a blood test? We didn't have those..." Times have changed mom, we can learn a lot more now than they could then.

@StephyM89 - I get where you're coming from being worried about facing criticism for parenting choices. No matter what you do, there is always someone on the other side thinking you're wrong- breast/bottle, cry it out/co-sleeping, cloth/disposable, circ/intact...it really is endless. It's impossible to completely ignore, but you grow more confident that you know what is best for your situation and your baby, as you know your situation and your baby better than anyone. Be smart, do your research, and hold strong in your decisions- you're the momma, and I'm sure you'll be a great one

@kayemjay2 - You are so sweet and that is such great advice. All of that is so true, and I hope that I am able to move forward as a mom and be accepting of other people's decisions for their own children and be confident in my own. Thank you!

@StephyM89 I know it's annoying, just try to ignore it. I didn't do a lot of stuff my parents did with us (rice cereal, DD is extended RF, etc) and sometimes my parents would make comments and it could seem obnoxious, but really it was them just amazed how different it all is now ya know? Also I feel the baby at night after laying down for a bit.

@roper2617 we only told my parents and my siblings DD's name before she was born. I wanted to bounce ideas off of my siblings because they could come up with reasons that name could be made fun of, etc. DD has a unique name (Peregrine) and it was not made known until she was born. I highly suggest doing this. People ALWAYS have opinions on names. They keep their opinions to themselves when the baby is already born and named (at least most people do).

We've let our family know we will not be sharing our potential names and just like the sex of the baby, they'll find out when it's born! I'm not telling friends either. Considering running the potential names here for opinions, but IDK. I think we're set on our boy name, which is odd because that's the hardest for us.

@StephyM89 sometimes I'm able to feel flutters if I'm sitting on the couch with my knees bent up. I guess the uterine area gets a little squished and I will feel some movement.

@bacorrea Yeah the person that gave her opinion was my mom, lol. I hear you with telling other people. For some reason people seem to think if they ask the name and you tell them that they can voice wether they like it or not, I've seen it happen so often. Unless someone is asked their opinion I think it's never okay to say say yeah I like it, or no I don't.

Appointments this week?

I had one on Wednesday. Baby had a heartbeat of 150. My doctor looked at my stomach and said "Yep, your just going to be someone that shows." lol.

Symptoms?
I had a really bad bout of dizziness Saturday at work and almost passed out in front of a customer. Needless to say I got sent home after being there for an hour and a half. (Not to say that was a bad thing. My boss was very concerned.) I'm thinking I am getting a bit dehydrated and that is where the dizziness is coming from.

I havent told like anyone yet lmao. And I dont think I'll get much advice since im on the second kid and they know by now that I just ignore them and do what I think is best anyways lmao.
