    1. How far along are you?
    20+3 today!

    2. How many multiples are you expecting? What sex are they?
3, still two girls and a boy as far as I know

    3. Any recent appointment updates?
I had one yesterday, and everyone was looking great! A was 11 ounces, B and C were 12 ounces. B and C have decided they no longer want nice pictures so have turned in ways where we can't get profile shots. They may change by my next appointment, but maybe not. We'll see!

    4. How are you feeling, symptoms, etc? Any current cravings or aversions?
I feel like I've gotten off pretty easy. Sure, heartburn can be a b*tch and I've started to notice some swelling in my feet, especially if I'm on them for too long, but overall I'm feeling pretty okay. Oh yeah, and I'd still love a daily nap, but I've been too busy the past week for those.

    5. Best moment with the babies this week?
I finally definitely felt some movement.

    6.  With Black Friday and Cyber Monday, did you buy anything for the babies?
I did not. We're going to be moving before the babies are born, so I'm trying not to buy anything yet. Oh, I just remembered that I did buy 1 of the dressers we'll need, but it was sent straight to our storage unit to wait for our new house. Other than that, I didn't buy anything for them, unless you count a tasty Panera sandwich and bakery treat.

    7. Is being pregnant with multiples over the holiday season going to change any of your plans?
Maybe. We usually spend the night at DHs parents on CE, but their guest bed is too small and hard for me to get comfortable, so we haven't figured that out yet. Plus my MIL loves clocks that have pendulums and the one in the guest room chimes every 15 minutes, so yeah, horrible. Other than that, I think everything will continue as normal. I don't usually drink, so being pregnant hasn't been a downer in that department, and my MIL is switching the kind of cheese she uses in her Christmas breakfast omelet, so I can still enjoy that.

    8. Anything else you want to share this week, questions, concerns, etc?
I'm wondering just how much weight I'm going to gain. I had almost none during the first tri, but since then I've been doing well with gaining, and if I keep going at this speed I have a feeling I'll be up another 20-30 pounds before they arrive. Yikes! But whatever is best for them!

Also, after yesterdays appointment DH finally was like "oh, we gotta pick names for these babies"... Like it finally sunk in that we're going to have three little people join us early next year, lol!

  • @mrsyimster I too get super hot when I sleep, but when I first get into bed I'm FREEZING for like 5-10 minutes, like teeth chattering cold. But then by morning I'm always at least partially out of the covers, and sometimes have no pants on. I'm sorry seeing the MFM partner wasn't as good as you were hoping. Hopefully Monday will be a better appointment!

  • 1. How far along are you?
23 weeks 6 days ONE DAY OFF FROM VIABILITY! WOO!

    2. How many multiples are you expecting? What sex are they?
    2! di/di boys

    3. Any recent appointment updates?
Nope, this is my off week. I have an appointment on Monday for cervix check and growth scans.

    4. How are you feeling, symptoms, etc? Any current cravings or aversions?
I feel gigantic. I'm running into things with my belly. No real cravings or aversions, but I'm hungry literally all of the time! I've been more tired. Getting to work has gotten so so much harder. The 1/2 mile walk each way seems so much longer and I feel tired and grumpy when i get to the office.

    5. Best moment with the babies this week?
We had a good time at Thanksgiving. Great food, great company. No talk of politics. Good times.

    6.  With Black Friday and Cyber Monday, did you buy anything for the babies?
I pulled the trigger on my stroller: Bumbleride Indie Twin. It is the new model and it is in high demand right now (like won't be in stock for another 2 months most places), so they haven't sent any to BuyBuyBaby or any of the other baby stores, and I knew I couldn't put it on my registry. I wanted to avoid the comments about how expensive it was, anyway... so this is probably for the best. I bought the bassinet attachments and plan on using them as their beds for the first few months. Yes, this was an expensive purchase, but I feel good about it.

I also finished my paperwork for my breast pump. My insurance didn't have any restrictions on WHEN they would send to me, so its already in the mail to me. I went with the Spectra S1.

    7. Is being pregnant with multiples over the holiday season going to change any of your plans?
Not really. We always run around like idiots on Christmas Eve. My husband's family and my dad's family celebrate on Christmas Eve. My dad's family is HUGE (he has 6 brothers, 3 sisters) and they rotate who hosts. This is his year, so I think that I can get away with spending longer than usual with my family. My father in law is sick, and this might be his last Christmas, so I really don't want to forgo stopping by their house either... Decisions.

    8. Anything else you want to share this week, questions, concerns, etc?
I'm not sure that anyone can help me here, but I'm looking for some solutions to my constant hunger. I drink water like crazy. I will drain my 24 oz mug once an hour. I am willing to gain as much weight as is necessary for my guys, but my doctor advised 30 lbs total, and I hit that at 22 weeks. I have been eating balanced meals (for the most part) they are lean protein heavy, but always include whole grains and vegetables.

Some background about me: I used to be morbidly obese in my teens and early 20's. I lost 115 lbs about 10 years ago, but in the past 10 years put back on about 50. So here I am inching closer and closer to my top weight and it is really scaring me! I don't want to put my boys in danger and am really trying to be as active as possible and eat right.

I've tried a number of different snacks: fruit, veggies, cheese, yogurt, etc and I always seem to be hungry immediately after.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
  • 1. How far along are you? - 26 weeks & 4 days!

    2. How many multiples are you expecting? What sex are they? Di/Di Twins - A boy and a girl! :)

    3. Any recent appointment updates? At my last appointment they did an ultrasound to check the heartbeats and I ended up with a growth scan because they saw a pocket of something. Maybe blood? Maybe Fluid from a membrane separating? They said they really don't know but went ahead and did a growth scan to make sure the babies weren't affected and it didn't seem that they were. They told me there is nothing that I can do other than let them know about any spotting or bleeding (duh!) and to be extra diligent about letting them know about anything above mild cramps. It was pretty scary at the time but good to know the babes are doing okay.

    4. How are you feeling, symptoms, etc? Any current cravings or aversions? - I'm getting more and more tired. Even sitting all day at work. Also tingling down my arms into my fingertips sometimes. Thats really annoying!

    5. Best moment with the babies this week? - I love to lay in bed in the mornings and feel them wiggle around. I wonder if they are interacting with one another. I can literally watch my belly some mornings. It's a nice way to start the day.

    6.  With Black Friday and Cyber Monday, did you buy anything for the babies? - I only bought a picture frame believe it or not. We are trying to hold off until our shower this weekend before purchasing anything major.

    7. Is being pregnant with multiples over the holiday season going to change any of your plans? - Definitely slowing the plans down a bit. We normally run around like maniacs for 3 solid days but we have limited a few plans so that I will have more time to rest and to set the precedent for next year that we will want some alone time at home with the babies. I also am not putting up many decorations at all because the thought of taking them all done at 32ish weeks just sounds like hell. I usually go way overboard so I am really cutting back this year.

    8. Anything else you want to share this week, questions, concerns, etc? - We have our first shower this weekend so I'm pretty excited about that. It will be nice to celebrate with close friends and church family (and eat yummy shower food!). :)

  • 1. How far along are you?  Almost 26 weeks!

    2. How many multiples are you expecting? What sex are they? Di/di twin boys

    3. Any recent appointment updates? Great ultrasound yesterday, nothing new to report except the scale is getting depressing...

    4. How are you feeling, symptoms, etc? Any current cravings or aversions?  Running out of space.  Weird aches and pains, ridiculous reflux that keeps me up at night, but lots and lots of kicking which I still find cute and doesn't bother me at all.

    5. Best moment with the babies this week? Seeing them kicking up a storm on the ultrasound.

    6.  With Black Friday and Cyber Monday, did you buy anything for the babies? We hadn't bought a single thing for them, but bought the uppa baby vista and various attachments for it.  Not sure if we're going to keep it -- we will probably go look at strollers in the store before even taking it out of the box -- but the price was right so we ordered it for now.

    7. Is being pregnant with multiples over the holiday season going to change any of your plans?  I don't think so.  We don't celebrate Christmas so this isn't as big of a time of year for us as it is for others.  I would otherwise think about a vacation the week between Christmas and New Years because work is slow, but I'm too big to want to go anywhere....

    8. Anything else you want to share this week, questions, concerns, etc?  I don't think so!
  • @direwolfmini are you sure you're eating enough calories?  I get that you are trying to keep weight gain to a minimum and I totally respect that but it seems like if you're actually really hungry and pregnant with twins you should ... eat? I'm guessing you aren't getting enough protein because I'm guessing none of us are getting enough protein.  Maybe additional protein would keep you full longer?  I hate the feeling of being really hungry!  My problem is less how much I'm eating and more what I'm eating.  I keep craving junk.

Also I totally feel you on the secret expensive purchases.  We bought an expensive stroller this weekend and I really didn't want my family to see what it cost.  People were like "don't you want to register for that stuff?"  But for some stuff I would rather just buy myself exactly what I want than worry about finding things at the right price points for everyone I know.

  • ladies i saw this this morning. i know it doesn't apply for everyone but it does for me. i get this question a lot..

    SaveSave
  • @mrsyimster hahaha I have totally gotten that question!  I love to very earnestly tell people that mine are fraternal, so they could have two different fathers...
  • @mrsyimster - I swear it is amazing the things people will ask. My favorites are that question and the "do twins run in your family?". I feel like the latter is always said with a snark of "did you use fertility treatments". While I'm not ashamed that I did...I also don't feel like telling every damn person I work with about my fertility struggles.  :|

  • @direwolfmini I can't believe you walk a 1/2 mile each way to work. That right now to me seems awful! (though I have been a sloth the past few months) I'm glad you were able to get your stroller! Hopefully it won't take two months to get it! Your Christmas plans sound crazy busy! As for your hunger, I'm not quite sure what else you can do. For me, some days it seems like all I do is eat. Is there a reason your doc advised only 30 pounds? That's awfully low for a multiples pregnancy. You should be closer to about 45 from all the literature I've seen.

@Finallyhismrs07 Yay for getting an extra chance to see your babes! And of course they don't care. It was the same with mine when I was bleeding. They were still having a dance party, totally oblivious. Yay for upcoming shower! So exciting! Also, I totally get not wanting to put up Christmas decorations. We can't put up our tree this year because we're selling our house and our tree is huge, but I'm secretly glad because I'm the one who has to decorate and undecorate it, and I just don't feel up to it right now.

@anonellis Every time you look at the scale just remember that you now have two people growing inside you, plus you to weigh.

@mrsyimster Lol to your ecard! Everyone that I know knows how we got triplets, but no strangers have asked yet. I think I'm just getting to the point where it's obvious that I'm pregnant, not just fat-ish, so I have a feeling it'll be coming up soon. Luckily I don't mind oversharing!

  • @AandDM2014 My doctor advised 30 lbs because I started the pregnancy overweight, technically obese by the BMI chart. They haven't gotten on my case about my weight gain, so that's good. I think I'm overthinking it. Funny story about my walk to and from the train... Yesterday I had to walk from the station before mine. All trains were stopped because one of the earlier trains hit a pedestrian :( and we only made it as far as the station before my normal stop. I ended up walking a mile and a half to my car rather than trying to catch an uber or waiting for the trains to start running again (it usually takes about 2-3 hrs after an accident). Needless to say, I'm super tired today! I'm working from home in my recliner. I earned it.

@anonellis You're totally right, If I'm hungry I should eat, and I definitely have been. Don't get me wrong, I'm not starving the babies by any means. Yesterday I had a protein shake, 2 slices of peanut butter toast with a banana, cottage cheese with mango, Carrot sticks and celery with hummus, cheese ravioli with turkey Italian sausage and a ton of veggies, an apple, a pear, a Greek Salad (no feta :'( ) with chicken, a piece of pita bread, 4 stolen fries from my husband, a snack pack of almonds, a mini kit kat and a glass of milk. I also had at least 6-7 refills on my 24 oz bottle of water and a couple cans of La Croix. I guess the saving grace is that everything (except for the kit kat... but come on...) was healthy.

I'm just nervous to fall into the trap of eating out of boredom. That was an issue I have always dealt with, and don't want to be one of those women that use pregnancy as an excuse to go hog wild. I'm going to keep trying to make the food as healthy as possible and hopefully I'll see the gains in the babies weights, and have super big and healthy little dudes.

Thanks for giving me the perspective, ladies. I appreciate you all more than you know!
  • @direwolfmini Ah, that makes some sense I guess, but if you've still got a few months to go, you're probably going to gain some more weight as the last bit is when the babies grow the most. That walk does not sounds like fun (which is funny that I'm typing that since I'm going to Disneyland tomorrow and will be doing lots of walking). And wow your food yesterday all sounds amazing! Especially peanut butter banana toast! I may have to go and buy some bread!

  • @direwolfmini that is so healthy!  I'm genuinely impressed (especially at the water...I'm trying, but I'm sure i'm not drinking enough).  For me, the hardest part is OTHER people encouraging me to use pregnancy as an excuse to eat like crap. I feel like everyone at my office is encouraging me to eat junk food (or just straight up bringing it to me) all the time.  I definitely treat myself sometimes, but I'm trying not to go too wild and other people are not helping.
  • @anonellis YES. I was fortunate that no one gave me snacks yesterday, but I have a good cop/bad cop thing going at my office regarding food.

I have one guy that polices what I eat and drink (my dept's VP, he's the dad of Mono/Di twin boys so he's been through a twin pregnancy. His wife gained more than 70 lbs and their boys were more than 7lbs each born at 35 weeks! I can't really tell him to shove off because he has a point and he's my boss's boss...). He gives me crap if he sees me eating anything bad and compliments me when he sees me eating healthy things. The rest of the office keeps bringing in cookies and cupcakes etc etc and they always give to the pregnant lady first. I know they're trying to be nice, but I need to NOT be eating cupcakes.

@AandDM2014 Peanut butter & banana toast is my LIFE. Super filling and yummy in the morning. Especially if you do a nice wheat bread. I know I'm going to gain more, I'm really crossing my fingers that I can keep it down to 1 lb a week maybe 1 1/2. If that's not in the cards for me, I'll deal with it (probably poorly at first).

Back to multiples stuff, has anyone checked out twiniversity.com? I'm taking their Expecting Twins classes. The first class is next week on Tuesday. One of my friends from high school had twins in October, and she took the class and told me that I absolutely NEEDED to take the classes. I'll let you know how it goes. They do in person classes in Chicago and NY and do an online class as well. For the moms expecting more than two, it looks like they have at least some info about higher order multiples, but I haven't check it out.
  • @direwolfmini I hadn't heard of that site, but that seems like a really awesome class! You'll have to let us know how it is! I won't be 24 weeks until Christmas, so if you think it's worth it, I may sign up for the January sessions. I think DH would greatly benefit from this, and it would be helpful for me too!

  • 1. How far along are you? 26 Weeks

    2. How many multiples are you expecting? What sex are they?  Di/Di boys

    3. Any recent appointment updates? Appointment next week

    4. How are you feeling, symptoms, etc? Any current cravings or aversions? Baby A is so low when he kicks I feel like he is going to kick his way out.  I know that is insane, but sometimes I get legitimately worried about it especially since I have had cervix issue in the past.

    5. Best moment with the babies this week?  They have really been moving a lot more even Baby B who I usually fee much less.

    6.  With Black Friday and Cyber Monday, did you buy anything for the babies? No baby stuff.  Christmas gifts only.

    7. Is being pregnant with multiples over the holiday season going to change any of your plans?  Not really.  We got everything decorated last weekend.  I'm a little worried about taking it down after the holidays but DD loves all the decorations so I couldn't pass on getting everything out.

    8. Anything else you want to share this week, questions, concerns, etc?  I feel you gals about the scale getting seriously depressing!

Next week can we add a question about how everyone ideally plans to deliver?  I'm curious to see what other doctors are pushing for and also if folks are planning medicated vs. non-medicated.
