Well endowed ladies

I am a normally large breasted woman (42g) now that I am pg they are only getting larger and I'm looking for more maternity friendly bras... any suggestions? Normally I am buying at Lane Bryant as they are good quality and carry my size but they don't do maternity  :'(

Re: Well endowed ladies

  • I am a 32DD normally and a 34G while pregnant. I've always bought bras from a specialty store near by but also on Amazon.

  • I am a 34DDD normally and am desperately in need of a bigger size. Looking forward to any advice that comes from this thread!
  • I'm a 30F normally, I literally have no options but specialty boutiques that will convert a regular bra into a nursing bra. I grow a cup size or four when my milk comes in, but it levels off so I don't buy nice ones until 6-8 weeks postpartum. I suck it up with a uni-boob sports bra style nursing one.
  • I'm normally 34G. I've lost about 10 lbs due to food aversions and nausea, so boob issues have slowed down (for now). Nordstrom is my bra go-to, so I'm probably gonna go at some point in 2nd tri. I'm really hoping I don't turn into some boob explosion!!!
  • I started as a 36dd and now have grown to a 40E!  (The band is on the tightest spot but the cup size fits). Luckily I had bras from my precious pregnancy that are still fitting right now. Ha!  I'm hoping to not get any bigger
  • I'm a 34DDD and I found some great maternity/nursing bras at Target for pretty inexpensive. I got them when I was 7 weeks along because I was already outgrowing my regular bras (and found the underwire to be so uncomfortable with how sore my boobs are).

Last pregnancy, I went to a specialty store and tried on different brands until I found one that fit. I'm always different sizes depending on the brand, so I have to do that anyway. On average, I'm a 34I, and I ended up getting a 36J. I actually waited until I was 4-5 months pregnant and my ribcage had expanded before I went shopping for a new one. I find at this size, my bra cups hold me well enough even though my boobs are getting bigger.

I have never found a bra in a regular store that fit, and the maternity ones are the same deal. Some go up to DDD, but even that's too small for me. So I looked... but it was a waste of time.

Now, for a nursing bra, I went to https://www.breakoutbras.com and got a 34H/I with extenders. The brand is Bravado "Essential Embrace" Nursing Softcup Bra. I was nervous about buying a bra online, but given that they don't have underwire, their sizing chart was accurate and forgiving. I lived in that thing for months, even after I stopped BFing.

ETA: My ribcage took almost a year to go back to regular size, although I was able to wear my usual bras with extenders after several months. (And I stopped BFing at 3m)

  • I bought my nursing bras from Wizard of Bras (storefront in So Cal and a great online store)

The bras that fit me last time were 42 G-I (adjustable cup which was a necessity in the early days of nursing). This time I'm already wearing my post-nursing bras. I got them from Soma. They have some good variety and decent pricing. Not much in the way of nursing bras though.

  • For those who have given birth before, how did you manage the postpartum part of boob care? I heard weaning off breastfeeding slowly helps keeps things firmer afterward?
  • @Knottie42089123 Welllll, I'm not the best to weigh in here. I'm 35 now, was 33 when DD was born, so gravity was already taking its toll. I will say that I don't feel like my boobs look much different pre-pregnancy and post-pregnancy, but I still need a good bra to lift 'em up. I did wean slowly-ish, but I never had much supply, so it just sort of went naturally when I stopped taking the breastmilk supplemental herbs (fenugreek and mill thistle, I think?).

  • In a 36G. I'm holding steady in my regular bras for right now. I buy a lot of them from Zulily.

I'm kind of nervous about what's going to happen to my chest area. I'm already petite and have back pain as it is. Once we are done having children, I will definitely be getting a reduction.

I'm sort of clueless on how to even estimate what size I will be PP to plan ahead. I will just probably get a few wireless nursing bras to have on stand-by and order some sized ones once o get things figured out.
  • I was a 36E, and went up to a 36I after baby was born. I live in a small town and had to order off amazon. I have a prime membership, so returning an item that did not fit was easy and free, and I got to try them on in my own home.

  • With my pregnancy with DD I really liked Bravado nursing bras during pregnancy and postpartum, I tried the allure and bliss.

The bliss was a life saver postpartum because underwire gave me too many problems while nursing (blocked ducts). I have never ever gone wireless, but had to while nursing. I wore the bliss and a support cami (which is only ever minimally helpful). I felt like it accommodated a growing and shrinking bust well (I fluctuated a couple sizes regularly while nursing).

For reference I'm a 36HH pre-pregnancy and generally wear panache brand bras.
  • 36I here. I wear Elomi bras from Nordies normally and when I nurse, I wear Anita nursing bras.

  • Huge fan of Nordstrom... they do REAL fittings, if you need it... which you might want to consider given things are changing for most of us.

Hands down Wacoal is AMAZING and I feel so supported.  I actually wore their underwire sports bra while nursing/pumping after I had my twins... my chest was so heavy that I didn't feel supported in anything else!  The only downside was I couldn't wear v-necks or anything lower cut as it came up higher... but it was the only thing that prevented the aches and pains, seriously the ONLY bra.

I've been wearing the 'Awareness' bra for 'everday'/'work' but I've heard good things from my friends about their 'Basic Beauty' bra as well.
