I started pre-natals months ago, while I was still on BC (pre-natals have extra folic acid).

they say that so if you do get pg, you have it in your system for the lil one. if you are safe, you should start about 3 months on a good pnv before you plan to ttc.
Prenatal vitamins will give you the required amount of folic acid along with all that you would get from any other multi. If you take prenatals you don't need to supplement with folic.

Well, Prenatals have more folic acid in them, but they have other vitamins too. Right now I just take an over the counter multi with extra folic acid and calcium, but you can always just take a folic acid suppliment by itself.

PNVs have the extra folic Acid you need when TTC so you don't have to take extra unless you are instructed by a dr. My doc said I need to take PNV a year before i start TTC.
