Sooo... TV or no aTV?

I wanted to get an idea of how many moms out there have TV on once in a while for LO?
My baby girl is 13 months with some speech delay (not saying mamma or daddy) but babbling a lot and doing a lot of other amazing things (walking, feeding self). We have had TV on here and there for good part of her life (not constantly), - lot of time it's just in the background and she's not actively watching.
Due to delays in the communication department we have shut off all TV and electronics in our home but its driving me crazy! Significant other works very long Shifts and is barely ever home and I - myself work full time so it's really tough to not have a moment to make dinner or wash dishes or feed the dog and often An educational tv show would be helpful but im left feeling super guilty! Any thoughts ?!

  • We have a tv on a lot of the time. He watches sometimes others it's just there. SO and I are watching thru the first 5 seasons of Big Bang and Damien loves the theme song but once the show starts he plays and then at the end he stops everything to watch for the song. Sometimes during breakfast he'll watch something. He loves Tarzan!

  • We turn on shows for her sometimes. Sometimes she'll actually sit and watch it sometimes she's in and out. Basically if there's music or a song she's in. She really likes Sesame Street but didn't care much about Paw Patrol or Mickey Mouse. I have different things on here and there for me too.

It might bother us more if she sat there like a zombie but she's either interested enough to be dancing and babbling along or she just plays by herself with it on.
  • We have the tv on mostly for background noise. She watches some Doc or Mickey. She also dances to commercials and theme songs and I'll put on music videos because she's all about Beyonce's Single Ladies!
  • Thanks for all the input! I feel better about putting it on once in a while when I have To make dinner or do dishes !
  • It's always on in my house. They're by no means glued to it I just like having background noise.
  • I have the TV on. Either she likes watching the Babyfirst channel or watching some of the youtube channels I watch (iiSuperwomanii or Grav3yardgirl, she loves both of them)
