Twin Surprise

Hi Everyone! Hope everyone is feeling much better now that we are in our second trimesters. I went for my 20 week last Monday and to my surprise within 10 seconds of the tech putting the wand on my stomach says "Congrats you're having twins". With my first ultrasound and listening to the heartbeat we only found 1 baby both times in the last 2 months. Has this happened to anyone else? We are over the moon (once we got over the shock) and looking forward to this new adventure, I just know I cant be the only one this happened to. Good vibes to all you mama's to be!

Congratulations!! It hasn't happened to anyone that I know, but DH and I are actually slightly terrified that this will happen to us when we go for our AS in a couple of days...we can definitely afford 2 kiddos, but 3 would be a struggle, haha. Good luck, momma!

We did find out they are both girls. I have triplet brothers and twins down the family line on my Moms side and DH has twin cousins on his side. It never crossed our minds there was a good chance we would have more than one, the doctors even told me I wouldn't be able to get pregnant (Tried for 2 years previously with no success). I guess we showed them. LOL.

Wow, congrats! One of my odder dreams when I was pregnant with DD was that I went in for a scan fairly late in the pregnancy and was told there was a surprise twin that had been "hiding" behind the other baby for all of my earlier ultrasounds. Kinda scary that it actually can happen!!

I've had so many dreams about this happening to me but no ultrasound yet. I'm like @SnarkasaurusRex this would be slightly terrifying for us.

I have a 10 year old son from a previous relationship who is not very happy about having 2 sisters. Once they get here though I think he will be a great big brother. Its going to be an adjustment for all of us. Thank you all for your kind words

Congratulations! So cool! I am probably one of the few "crazy" ladies who would love if this happened to me. I secretly hoped twins would happen this go around as I knew it would likely be our last. But I've already had about 6 ultrasounds so I would think they would have caught something during any of those 6.

This happened to my coworkers sister with her 2nd pregnancy. Her first u/s was the anatomy scan and there were twins! It was babies 2 & 3 for her.

Congrats - wonderful news! This happened to one of my DH's coworkers a couple years ago ... they found out at the A/S and it turned out to be girls, too! More recently my son's best friend's mom was surprised by twins, but it was much earlier. She had her pregnancy confirmation at 4 or 5 weeks and when she went back for the dating scan a while later and they found a second jellybean! So exciting!
