Dislocated my shoulder while at a playdate for DD yesterday afternoon. Fell down some stairs, fortunately on my butt. But the primary impact was on my left hand.
So off to the ER. Doctor and nurse had more or less the following conversation:
"So we do...." "she's pregnant" "so how about approach" "She's pregnant" "Well then an x-ray" "She's pregnant"
They finally agreed on acetaminophen IV and an US of my shoulder instead of an X-ray. Got the shoulder back in place and am now wearing straps immobilizing it.
My random is that DH is awesome. We are moving DD's room to what was the playroom, and then we're making her room the nursery. She chose PINK paint, and I was about halfway through painting when my midwife told me on Friday to stay off my feet because of the contractions. DH finished painting the room, put up white trim, and moved everything in there for me! I just kind of put everything in its place. Now I can't wait because this means we can start the NURSERY!!!

No good randoms yet, just having coffee and hanging with my youngest watching a Hallmark Christmas movie. :-) Preschool is off all week, we have two days to hang out without her brother and sister. I love those days.
I have a ton to do before Thanksgiving, so after this coffee I think I better get started. We are hosting both of our families for the first time. It's going to be crazy.

@Partyof6? I am so jealous. I have a slight obsession with Hallmark Christmas movies! I don't watch those types of movies throughout the year, but at Christmas I can't get enough!
I got to work late and scored 1 of the 2 expectant mom parking spots at work. Score! Since it's about 30 degrees and like 200 mph winds, it made me even happier.
My random is that I'm soooo ready for Thanksgiving break! Just have to get through today and tomorrow, then I'm off for a whole week! Bring on all the foods!
I'm usually just about done Christmas shopping by now but this year I haven't even started. I kind of really just want to tell everyone I'm too grumpy and tired to buy anyone gifts but I don't think that will fly with the kids.
Thanks guys!!! I'm pretty happy with how it turned out! It's the room above the garage so she has no closets, which is a pain. But we now need FIVE bedrooms with four kids so we have to make do. I don't think she'll ever care too much hopefully

I discovered the UP channel when I saw there was a Gilmore Girls marathon on and there were commercials for a movie called A Puppy for Christmas. Puppies and Christmas? Sign me up!
So, in the great world of unsolicited pregnancy advice, I've been getting a lot of push against trying for a totally natural birth. My mom (who, to be fair, is an anesthetist and therefore literally pushes drugs for a living) will not shut up about how she thinks I "should really" talk to my doctor about getting an epidural. Plenty of random other people have given me similar "advice." I hear a lot of, "I don't know why anybody wouldn't get an epidural."
Anyone else getting this kind of commentary? I'm at a loss for how to respond to it.
@NiceyMeany I haven't told a lot of people that I'm going to try for a natural birth because I don't want to deal with comments. It seems like a lot of friends just automatically got once (which is fine for them) and think others do the same. If I do get questioned I plan to just say that I'm open to an epidural (which I am) but want to try without one first.
I'm definitely not eating straight out of the brownie pan while I wait to hear from the dr. about my 3 hour results...

No, I don't actually think that but the unsolicited advice grates on me after a while and in my head I get mean :-) In reality I just smile and nod and do what I want. I haven't been given any unsolicited advice on that but I got plenty on a number of other things last time and I'm sure I'll get a bunch this time around. And it doesn't end after birth. Prepare yourself for plenty of input on how to take care of your kid. My approach depends on the person and my relationship to them. I either smile, nod, thank them for their advice and then do what I want or I explain to them my stance and if they still push their agenda after I explain my stance, then I smile and nod and do what I want :-) It does get annoying, but it's good practice for your patience :-)

As for no bra though, oh dear! Normal me could handle it, but not bigger pregnant me. Without a bra there's this awful thing i call underboob, where they sort of drape on my (very high) bump. Not a good look for me! I don't like it!

@NiceyMeany I feel like that's the kind of advice that doesn't really warrant a real response. I think it's a really personal decision and women shouldn't be pressuring each other one way or the other. I think it's smart whether you plan on having meds or you plan on going med free to at least know the options that are available to you wherever you are delivering but anymore advice than that isn't appropriate unless asked for.

This is super random but I thought you all could get a good laugh like I did. Took my dog out this morning and noticed someone decided to steal the light bulb out of our lamp post It's actually broken, so if they hadn't left the top open I probably would have never noticed. Not sure what the motivation was but besides it being slightly creepy, I'm still laughing about it
@NiceyMeany personally i havnt experienced this but i would be inclined to agree to peoples face then do my own thing with it for an easier life. Its not as if any random "advice givers" will be there with you at the time to be annoying you. No need to stress yourself arguing it with people when its none of their business.
@NiceyMeany it's weird anyone is pushing you to talk to your doctor now about an epidural. You don't need to learn how to do it! Prepare yourself for the natural birth you want, and if that doesn't work out, it's ok. You can always change your mind and get one!
This reminds me of my family being so insistant before my son was born that I was going to hate cloth diapers and would be running to the store for disposables after he was born. So many times they tried convincing me. It was really annoying! I had done plenty of research and was very happy with my decision. Why do others care so much? I don't know! Having had 1, 2, or 10 kids doesn't make you an expert on someone else's baby or their birthing/parenting decisions!
Saturday our dog had a play date with my fiancé's co-worker and his dog since they are about the same age/energy level. At one point we had switched dogs and we had theirs playing fetch and he had ours playing tag or something. Before we could stop him, he let our dog drink from a veryyyyyy questionable puddle. Not happy. Ever since then she has been constantly pooing very liquidy poos. And she has asked to go out 2 times in the middle of the night for the past 2 nights because of it which she never does. I feel bad for her and I'm extra tired .

My boss basically said I probably wouldn't make it because his wife is small like me and she didn't make it to the hospital in time with the first and wanted meds with the rest because she didn't like it. (he didn't use those exact words of course) I talked to my friend because she had GD with both and was induced with #1 but #2 came on his own. I want to go med free but with GD I'm worried about having to be induced.

You're going to criticize me for my choices, and then want me to tell you more of my choices? Nu uh. We'll go back to the sharing nothing approach.
@NiceyMeany YES! I get a lot of that kind of commentary, I have even had friends disregard me and say "oh, you'll change your mind". Maybe I will, but I'd like people to respect the decision I have made at present. Where do these people get off? I've just stopped telling people, and if they ask, I just tell them I'm still undecided...even though I'm totally hell bent on an un-medicated birth.
I was sending my mom a picture of the painting I just got to match my new sectional (unfortunately it's much too small), meanwhile Peach just wants me to paint her like one of those French girls, Jack.

+1 to awkward "advice" regarding cloth diapering. Or rather more like "oh you'll fail at that." Huh? Because I fail at so many things? Thanks for the vote of confidence I suppose.
But I'll take their lack of confidence ANY day over my in laws telling me that breastfeeding is selfish because it means they can't feed the baby.
