PP weight loss

hi ladies!!! I know I've been MIA, being a twin mommy is exhausting lol. I have a question for stm, any if you experienced rapid weight loss pp? I really wasn't expecting this, at all, but not even two weeks pp I only have 10 pounds of baby weight left to lose. I've literally been losing about a pound or two a day for the last week. Not that I'm complaining, I just really didn't expect this at all. I gained 52 pounds growing my girls, I've lost 42 pounds since giving birth 10 days ago. I know a lot of that was actual baby weight, and birth stuffs. Five days pp was the first time I got on the scale, and I'd lost 25 at that point. I kinda want to try on my normal jeans, but kinda don't lol.

Re: PP weight loss

  • With dd1 I gained a lot of water weight at the end and that flew off. it was the weight I gained in the first half of the pregnancy that was the challenge (never lost it all).

  • I never gained much weight either pregnancy, but with L I was down about 25lbs by the end of the 1st month. Baby and their stuff average about 15-20 lbs *i think* and nursing or pumping can really help with weight loss. Something about hormones and how they affect fat storage.

  • Most of mine was gone within the first few weeks as well. I didn't do too great with nursing but several people mentioned to me that if you are nursing, your body hangs on to like, the last 10 lbs and that can be harder to lose until you are done with it. Again, I dunno if that's true for all, since I never had the experience.
  • Well I know at least 9 pounds was actual babies lol.

  • I dropped 20 of the 30 lbs in the first month and then the remainder over that next year... slowly. But I don't think that gives you much info as twins seem like a different thing and bodies seem to do whatever the heck they want in that first year

  • I lost a TON of water weight after I had DD1. I want to say by the time I left the hospital (about a week after she was born) I had lost 20 of the 40 I had originally gained. But every body is different and there are so many variables to consider (multiples, BFing, water retention, PP appetite, etc.)
  • Lucky!  I held onto the last 15 lb (35 total gain) until I stopped pumping and then I lost the rest plus 10. :)  Way to go!

  • You had me curious. I had gained 24 pounds as of my last appointment 1.5 weeks prior, so probably 25-26 total. As of 3 days pp, I've lost 9.

I bet your body is burning cals like crazy to produce for the twins!
  • I'm kind of a petite person normally, but gain massively with pregnancy. 70lbs with my 1st, lost about 45 lbs within the 1st month pp, the rest took me about a year. Gained 60lbs with my 2nd, lost 40 lbs within 1st month pp, the rest within 6 months. I only gained 40 with this one and was so happy, but gained 10 more in the last 2 weeks thanks to rapid swelling. I've got 2 1/2 weeks left, I'm so crossing my fat, swollen fingers that I stop gaining until my RCS!!
I imagine breastfeeding 2 babies will suck the calories out of you!!! That's awesome! Though don't be surprised if your shape is just diff from what it used to be. I swear my waist got longer.

  • With DS I gained 40 and lost 32 pounds. I lost 20 in the first week, then the rest over the next month or two and I retained the last 8 pounds. Of course I got pregnant with this LO when DS was about 8 months old so I didn't get the time to drop the rest of it. There are tons of factors, I didn't really breast feed but I did pump for awhile, plus BC, plus lifestyle, plus just how your body recovers.
