Hey all,
I thought it might be fun to have a little thread where we can post our funniest (or most embarrassing) IF moments. I know this is a hard time for a lot of us, but it always helps me to have a little humor.
So, what awkward convos have you had to have?
Weird places you've had to do an injection?
Mishaps and mixups?
I think for me, my most awkward moment was during my last transfer, and the doctor asked me if he was the one to do my HSG. He asked this while he was inserting the catheter, so, keeping in fashion of making awkward jokes when I'm nervous I blurted out "Why? Does it look familiar down there?"
*facepalm*
At least he got a laugh out of it.

Let's hear yours!

Re: Fun with IF
During my most recent FET the dr asked for my SSN and I completely blanked and got all flustered. And then started joking that I was nervous for the "first date" with this dr and of course my DH had to pipe in that he was jealous of the dr Bc it took me awhile to drop my panties for him!
When we were doing IUIs, we lived close enough so we could "collect" at home. I didn't realize that would mean I had to keep it warm until we got there! The RE said the best thing to do was put it in your shirt in your cleavage area. I always wondered how that conversation would go if I got pulled over

The first time I did progesterone suppositories I didn't put it in far enough nor did I remember to put on a panty liner. I went about my day and was standing in line at the grocery store, reaching over the belt to grab a divider when I felt a massive "rushing" feeling. It had finally dissolved and came out all over the place. I waddled to my car and I'm pretty sure if anyone saw me they might have thought I pooped my pants lol.
@mtpbadger I might have to have my husband take pics of the "room" tomorrow. I am curious too!

our first meeting with the clinic the RE was explaining that DH will need to provide a sample and first offered that he could do it at home and bring it in. He goes "well here is good, like I'd be fine with this room - doesn't matter to me, do you need it now?" - she actually burst out laughing at him and said most guys aren't usually that comfortable but "we have a room for that and no need to give it to us today". haha
The day comes - he calls it "whacking day" - he goes into the room and i'm not joking he's back in less than 10mins. I said "oh did they just get you registered?" Nope - he was done. A couple beside us overhead and next thing I know the guy is high fiving my DH. This is why I married this man! haha

TTC for 8 years.
Started in 2008 with timed intercourse, ovulation testing, no official monitoring.
OB-GYN recommended Clomid and timed intercourse, attempted for 6 straight months.
First surgery June 2009 (OB-GYN): diagnosed with stage 4 endometriosis and large hydrosalpinx on right tube.
Second surgery (July 2009, RE performed this): Right tube had to be removed, lots of adhesions removed.
Attempted "trying on our own" as per RE recommendations, unsuccessful 5-6 months.
HSG performed December 2009: left tube open.
February 2010: started Femara and timed intercourse, attempted 6 months, no BFPs.
Took a break for a while.
January 2011: started IUI process, ovaries never properly responded to medications, 6 failed attempts, never actually completed an IUI.
Took 2012-2014 off due to depression and frustration (side note: did complete grad school to become a nurse practitioner- great distraction).
2015: started seeing RE again, went through tons of testing and HSG, left tube now blocked, only option is IVF.
September 2015: Started first official IVF cycle, cancelled in October due to large cyst on left ovary.
October 2015: started on birth control for 2 months.
December 2015: attempted to start another IVF cycle, cysts on both ovaries on initial ultrasound, left was huge, cancelled to aspirated cyst.
January 2016: Cyst back, surgery for ex-lap, cyst and adhesions removed.
March 2016: Attempted second IVF cycle, estrogen way too high, cyst back, cancelled again.
April 2016: Third attempted IVF cycle, 7 eggs retrieved, 2 mature (but not great) embryos made to fresh transfer, neither implanted.
May-Sept 2016: Break to regain sanity.
Sept-Oct 2016: Attempted fourth IVF cycle, very successful, cyst still on left but we ignored. 7 mature "great looking" eggs retrieved, 4 mature embryos made it to day 5 transfer. Transfer aborted due to large amount of endometriosis fluid in uterus.
FET of 2 embryos completed on 12/12/16.
12/22/16 1st Beta 179 BFP!!!
12/24/16 2nd Beta 449!!
EDD 8/30/17 with two girls!!!!!
Audrey (4lb 8oz) and Olivia (6lb 6oz) born 8/10/17!!
Our second IUI fell on thanksgiving day last year. My husband and I were being so immature about it, we were giggling because I was getting turkey basted on turkey day!!! We told the doctor but she didn't find it nearly as hilarious as we did.
these are hilarious, I definitely needed this today - thanks all!
I used the mixing needle for the Menopur injection.. ouch and had to do my shots in the bathroom at work one time - talk about feeling like a junkie.
My DH had to do an extraction (prior vasectomy) and we ended up in the ER that night ,stiches had come undone and his ballas were the size of oranges.
Not sure if these are funny though.. more tragic than anything, but its nice to share stories and now that we are all not so perfect together
IVF#1 Sep 2016 (4 eggs retrieved, 2 matured, 0 transferred due to DNA breakdown)
IVF#2 Nov 2016: Estrogen & Ganirelix. Stimming: Loprun, Follistim, Menopur. (7 eggs retrieved. 3 matured. 0 transferred due to PGD results)
IVF#3 Feb 2017: Estrogen priming. Menopur, Follistim and HGH
When i was on estrace vaginally 3/day I had to do one in the public bathroom at work in the afternoon. One day I dropped the pill (thankfully I had extras) but can only imagine what the person next to me thought I was doing as they saw this little blue pill roll under the stall. Probably thought I was getting high on some drug lol!
i had hysteriscopic surgery for a uterine septum last Friday, and the surgeon left in a "balloon" to keep the uterus inflated. Before, she told me there's a "string" attached that may come out and hang through, and to just bunch it back up and shove it up if so.
Ok, so a tampon like string, no big deal.
fast forward- all of a sudden four days after the surgery I feel this huge hard plastic thing- the end had like BRANCHES with blood coursing OUT the top of- hanging out of me- I decided the balloon itself was coming out and called my dr office in a panic! I tried to get it the rest of the way out and tmi but it looked like Freddy Krueger paid my toilet and nearby walls a visit because the tube was spraying blood like a hose with too much water pressure that moves everywhere!
Turns out "string" is code for "long, thick, blood filled plastic tube" and the balloon was still in the right spot the whole time.
hi, doctor, maybe don't describe it as a string???? I seriously just cleaned more blood off the wall just now that I missed. I was majorly traumatized at the time but it's funny now to think about.
OMG that's actually quite traumatic. wow.. yes sometimes we need more detail Docs
My husband's Urologists name is Dr Seaman... I think he is over the jokes and didn't find our immature behavior too funny.
IVF#1 Sep 2016 (4 eggs retrieved, 2 matured, 0 transferred due to DNA breakdown)

IVF#3 Feb 2017: Estrogen priming. Menopur, Follistim and HGH
OK I'm dying laughing/cringing at these stories - thank you @LeFemmeViolette for starting this thread! Totally needed this today. And I'm sorry but @natalie4oscar your urologist needs to accept the jokes - what did he expect choosing that field for a career with his name!!!
Only one I have is one of my first days of stims for my IVF cycle I had to do my shots in the bathroom of a crowded restaurant at a friend's bday dinner. I was still new at it so had to pull up the video tutorials and follow along so it took me forever to get both shots set up and done. It was a single co-ed restroom too so there were like 10 people waiting on line when I came out, everyone def thought I was in there dropping a big one if ya know what I mean!
