Re: Weekly Appointments Check in week of 11/14

• Did you or will you have an appointment this week? I had one today

How did it go / what are you looking forward to?It went great, had another ultrasound and got to see him moving, sucking his thumb, moving his hands<3

Raves & rants:

Did you get an ultrasound? TV or Ab?Yep

How far along are you?22 weeks 6 days, measuring 23 weeks 2 days

Multi or rocking the singleton? Single

Do you know the gender(s) yet? boy!

Have you announced yet?yep.

When is your next appointment? Dec 14th for my one hour glucose

What are you looking forward to at your next appointment? I'm not looking forward to my next appointment, I just drink that yucky drink and get bloodwork. I failed by 1 point last time and had to do the three hour so I'm really hoping that doesn't happen again

GTNY: what gift do you want most this year? Vinyl records, I got a big box of my grandpas records so I bought a record player and now I want my records to add to the collection.

• @librarymom917 ughhh. One point!? That's so so painful! FX your experience this time around isn't like that!
• @kjd291 I know! My doctor said he knew I didn't have GD but since I "failed" I had to do the three hour, it sucked!

• @librarymom917 What!? He said that!? I would have been so pissed and totally refused to go it in that case! Grrr. I'm getting annoyed for you. Haha.
• Did you or will you have an appointment this week? Tuesday (11/15)

How did it go / what are you looking forward to? It was fine... I was expecting a normal boring appointment (pee in a cup, step on a scale, hear the hr with the doppler, measure the belly, leave) so I felt blindsided when my doctor decided to throw at me that since I had a history of heart issues that they were likely going to admit me to ICU instead of L&D for the delivery. It came out of no where, so I was completely unprepared to ask the millions of questions that suddenly flooded my brain as soon as I left the office.

Raves & rants: I'm super annoyed at the above because my OB office has been aware of my heart condition this entire time and didn't seem concerned (I've had mutliple heart surgeries that fixed most of the problem and the rest is well controlled by medication). I feel like this escalated VERY quickly and I'm pissed that they just threw it at me so casually.

Did you get an ultrasound? TV or Ab? N/A

How far along are you? ~23w

Multi or rocking the singleton? Single

Do you know the gender(s) yet? Baby Girl!

Have you announced yet? Yup.

When is your next appointment? Fetal Echocardiogram in a couple weeks to make sure my heart meds aren'tr affecting baby girl's heart.

What are you looking forward to at your next appointment? Asking the 8 million questions I now have that I was unprepared to ask before. For instance - I read that ICU births often only allow the medical team in the room (which wouldn't surprise me because I have had multiple cardiac ICU stays before and I had to beg and plead for very short visits from my husband). Does this mean DH won't be allowed to be there for my delivery? Because that's not ok...

GTNY: what gift do you want most this year? To not have gestational diabetes? For some reason I am overly concerned with GD lol

Sorry for the long and ranty post... I thought after a couple days I would calm down, but I am honestly just getting more ramped up!

• @JustAnotherUsername16 I'm so sorry that was sprung on you! You have the right--and absolutely should--not hesitate to call your nurse or OB to ask these questions! There is no reason to have to wait till next appointment to wonder and worry. They're your provider and that's what you're paying them for! Just let them know you had time to think more about the conversation and need more information!
• Did you or will you have an appointment this week? Today

How did it go / what are you looking forward to? Went well... looking forward to next appointment when we have an ultrasound just to make sure my placenta moved up. Also have to do glucose test next time so happy to be getting that out of the way.

Raves & rants: When Dr. was going to do the doppler baby kicked hard twice. The Dr. was surprised since I'm only 24 weeks and the kicks were definitely visible. She laughed and said good luck! lol

Did you get an ultrasound? TV or Ab? nope

How far along are you? 23w6d

Multi or rocking the singleton? Singleton

Do you know the gender(s) yet? Girl

Have you announced yet? yep

When is your next appointment? Dec 15

What are you looking forward to at your next appointment? Besides seeing baby, after next appt I go to a 2 week schedule!

GTNY: what gift do you want most this year? Well I already know I'm getting a sewing machine so I'm excited to start learning that. I'm gifting myself a cup of coffee xmas morning with my family (I don't do caffeine during pregnancy) so I'm really really looking forward to that!

• @JustAnotherUsername16 ahh I can't believe they sprung it on u!

• Did you or will you have an appointment this week? This morning regular monthly OB appt

How did it go / what are you looking forward to? It went well. The usual 5 minute appt - hear heartbeat and go over what I need to do the next 4 weeks.....He suggested doing birthing classes....Are they worth it? Most people I know who had children didn't do them.

Raves & rants: Had a nurse practitioner student come in...I'm all about learning, so I am one that will usually allow them to be involved. :) She came over to feel where the uterus was, but didn't press hard enough. She'll have to get used to that. Otherwise, she observed :) It was all good.

Did you get an ultrasound? TV or Ab? nope...doppler

How far along are you? 23w 1d

Multi or rocking the singleton? singleton

Do you know the gender(s) yet? Little GIRL

Have you announced yet? yep - had our family over for a gender reveal.

When is your next appointment? 12/15 - the dreaded glucose test

What are you looking forward to at your next appointment? hopefully a good result from the glucose test...but GD runs in the family, so hopefully we'll be good :)

GTNY: what gift do you want most this year? Hm...I basically told everyone that they can get us stuff for the baby, but I think DH might get me a new FitBit....I've been going crazy not having mine. But I would love to get our furniture if possible :) Maybe my dad will get us the crib.

ME: 34
DH: 37
DD: 03/17/17
DS: 12/06/19
• @mecoats oh i fitbit too! i have not worn it since BFP though... i think the heart rate is just off and stuff....

• @JustAnotherUsername16 that's a huge thing to learn, not something that should have been sprung on you like that - especially since it sounds like they gave you so little information! I'd be up in arms too.

• Thanks, y'all - I appreciate your support. Believe it or not, ranting here has actually helped me calm down a little bit... I am writing down all my questions and will come prepared to my next appointment. I keep reminding myself that it's good they are bringing this up now as opposed to right before the birth so that I can adjust my plan and expectations accordingly and have time to ask questions and adapt to the new plan.
• Did you or will you have an appointment this week? Had one this morning (11/18)

How did it go / what are you looking forward to? It went great! I'm so excited to have become a midwife patient. There's 2 in the office and either one of them will deliver depending on who's on call. The one I met with this morning was so pleasant and she explained the entire midwife process and talked about how they believe in letting my body do what comes naturally and won't intervene unless they absolutely have to. And if they have to they'll suggest what to do but won't just say, we're doing X, without giving me an option. I love the calm nature of midwives and it makes me so much more excited for the delivery.

Raves & rants: Nothing to rant about. Great appt!

Did you get an ultrasound? TV or Ab? No, shouldn't need any more.

How far along are you? Measuring 23+6

Multi or rocking the singleton? Uno

Do you know the gender(s) yet? Team green!

Have you announced yet? Yes

When is your next appointment? December 14th. Have to do the 1 hr glucose test before then. NOT looking forward to it. I hate having to sit at the lab for a full hour and can't leave. I think it's BS!

What are you looking forward to at your next appointment? Meeting the other midwife.

GTNY: what gift do you want most this year? I literally haven't even thought about what I've wanted this year! Normally I give my husband a Christmas list with a bunch of different options and price points, but I haven't the foggiest idea what I want. Anything that I want I just buy for myself so I have to think of something.

• @kiyamurph I'm jealous of you midwives. All of my OB's are actually amazing but still the thought of having a midwife has always appealed to me. I was going to hire a doula in training but DH was not on board lol
• @kiyamurph I'm glad you're excited about your midwife birth! Hope the other woman is just as wonderful!
• @kiyamurph those midwives sound AWESOME. I tried to find one, but there are zero near me on my insurance.

@Gators&BoSox nooo why is your husband anti-doula?

• Did you or will you have an appointment this week? Yes- today

How did it go / what are you looking forward to? Great!

Raves & rants: The blood clot is getting smaller and the choroid plexus cysts are gone! Still on pelvic rest and no heavy lifting until clot is gone.

Did you get an ultrasound? TV or Ab? Yes-ab

How far along are you? 21.3

Multi or rocking the singleton? Only one :)

Do you know the gender(s) yet? Boy :)

Have you announced yet? Yes

When is your next appointment? 3 weeks

What are you looking forward to at your next appointment? Seeing my sweet boy again :)

GTNY: what gift do you want most this year? I am bad at this game. I never have any ideas for myself.

• @sunshine507 I think he finds it intrusive and awkward. To quote him "we did it fine last time with the two of us" lol. I'm sure if I really really pushed for it he would go with it for me, but I do think I can achieve my med free birth without a doula, especially if my waters don't rupture prematurely and I can avoid Pit. The obs and entire staff at the hospital are very nurturing and do not push interventions so I don't feel like I need someone there to defend my choices if that makes sense. I mostly just wanted a doula to have someone rub my back lol
• @jazzyma14 the news about the blood clot and cysts is great!!! So happy for you and your LO!!
