Insurance covering diclegis (morning sickness meds)

Has anyone had any luck convincing their insurance company to cover diclegis? It is a newer medication that is very expensive and my insurance company has rejected paying for it multiple times. It's the only thing that keeps me from being completely miserable and is getting veryyyy expensive to pay for all out of pocket.

Mine covered it. If they won't cover it then can you take 1/2 of a unisom and vitamin B12 as separate pills? It's my understanding that is what the medication is. Or will they cover zofran or other anti nausea meds?

Mine rejected it...but my doctor had me pick up unisom and B12 instead. Maybe ask your doctor if you can take the OTC pills (and how much - it has been over a year and I can't recall the dosage of each med I was on...)

ETA: Yes, it's actually B6 (sorry I was going off memory!)

My doctor recommended just getting unisom and B6 since and essentially making my own diclegis since those are the two active ingredients. It ended up being a whole heck of a lot cheaper. I don't remember the exact dosages so you'd have to check with your doc on that but it's a very valid option.

Mine rejected it, and I have really good insurance. I've never been rejected for any Meds, including all of my IVF Meds which they covered 100%... So I was really surprised they rejected it. I ended up taking unisom

Look on their website. There's a coupon. We only had to pay 40$ for the meds with it. It needs to be the coupon from the pharmaceutical company website

Diclegis is the only Class A medicine out there for morning sickness. It is safe for both mother and child. Just because it says 'herbal' or 'natural' does not mean is safe.

Andplusalso what makes you think she hasn't tried other things? If one more person suggested preggo pops or ginger during my first tri I may have puked directly on them. Most women don't turn to meds first, and most doctors won't prescribe it before trying other things. Suggesting that a woman try something else and alluding to using meds as somehow "unsafe" for her baby makes me upset.

Literally just went through this with my insurance. My doctor doesn't want me on zofran until further along so unisom+b6 it is.
Anddddd if you're sick enough to need prescribed medication then no herbal nonsense/small meals/carbs/no carbs is going to help.

My insurance paid for it thankfully.I haven't had to use it yet though. Dr. Prescribed just in case. But insurance denied my prenatal. SMDH

I have aetna and they covered it. It went from 650 something dollars down to 60. Diclegis is the best thing that ive taken. I was getting so sick and dehydrated. I feel amazing now! So if they wont cover yours i would do the unisom and b6!

We didn't have to pay for it at the pharmacy, but my husband got an email about paying for it from the insurance company. After the first 4 days, it made a world of difference!! I'm still hoping we don't have to pay and I'm trying to cut back to 2 a day so that I don't have to get a refill (I'm almost 12 weeks now).

Talk to your doctor, and make sure they agree Unisom and B6 is the right choice. Both are category B, while Diclegis is the only category A.

I used a coupon (one on their website, but my doctor gave me the one I used.) I highly recommend talking to your doctor. Look on goodrx.com for coupons or where the cheapest pharmacy is, sometimes price shopping is key!

If you are somewhere with Kroger, go there. Diclegis is not covered by my insurance but with their discount card or whatever, it's $40.
