I want to be induced on my due date (Dec 3rd) so long as my little man isn't here by then. My baby brother leaves for the Marines on the 5th and want them to meet each other before he leaves! my doctor is all for it, do long as my cervix is cooperating, but I haven't been able to set a date yet
I got induced with my DD1, 10 years ago. I was 41w 3d, and 1 cm dilated, 10% effaced. Needless to say, my body wasn't ready! It didn't end as planned, I ended up with a c-section. I'm saying this because if there is anything you can help to prepare your body for birth- do it!!! DTD, long walks, ask your Ob how you can help prepare your body for being induced.
I wouldn't be induced unless it was medically necessary. I was induced with my son on my due date (due to high BP) and ended up with a c/s after 24 hours of unproductive (but painful) labor. The rate of c/s with induction is pretty high, and c/s recovery is pretty tough. Just my opinion.
I agree with PP - don't induce unless you really have to. I ended up with over 31 hours of labor and barely missed having an emergency c-section because my body just wasn't ready. Also, pitocin induced contractions are not like the normal ones in that they can be incredibly painful but not effective. Just keep that in mind even though I know you're so anxious to meet your LO.
I was induced a week late with my firstborn and was only dilated half a centimeter. Considering im already dilated (1cm last Monday), I'm not too concerned about anything going wrong or needing a CS. We've talked to my doctor already -since we found out when my brother was leaving for the Marines - and she's all for it so long as my cervix and everything look good. Im hoping she checks my.cervix again next week and we can start composing some sort of plan.
