Re: Randoms - Week of November 14th

  • I'm so sick of being sick! Sunday morning, which was baby shower day, I woke up with the worst head cold and congestion. It moved to my chest now. Boo...

But, the shower was lovely and my mom did amazing job putting it together. Lumpy is going to be a very well dressed little guy! He was spoiled! I was impressed too, we only got a few duplicate gifts and very few duplicate books (which we asked for instead of cards).

And the nursery needs 1 more cost of paint on the wainscoting, then it is ready to move baby stuff into!

    AND

our kitchen us is almost done!!! The carpenters are done today! We are tiling the floor and putting the bead board on the ceiling, the counter top template is happening tmrw. As soon as the counter tops are in we will move back in!!

Does anyone get muscle cramps on the side of their stomach when walking fast? I started getting them recently, so wondering if it's normal due to growing belly. I'll ask my OB tomorrow too.

  • @babylonghorn16 agreed! I decided long ago that I would not publicly complain about the negative aspects of pregnancy, because the positive by far outweigh them! Do I have heartburn? Yup. Does it suck really bad? Yup. But that means my babies are still growing and we're getting closer with each bout of heartburn to meeting them. It's especially weird when you read those things and it's like "uh, yeah, I knew that, everyone knows that".

  • @ADRIANAC1982 Wow, what an appointment that must have been! I'm glad that this doctor hasn't given up hope and seems to be doing everything within his power to help you get a take-home baby. I hope the transfusion specialist will take your case and everything goes smoothly. I know hospital bedrest won't be any fun, but if it gets you your baby, it'll be totally worth it! I know there are many resources about how to make being hospitalized better and not be bored out of your mind, so hopefully you can use those to make the stay a bit better! I will continue to hope that things keep going well!

  • @Tulips29 Yes, I get little stitches in my side fairly often. I have to walk slow and sometimes just support my stomach when I walk. I definitely notice it if I'm walking up or down hill more. I've heard of people using those support belts, but I don't hurt enough (and I'm not active enough) to feel like I need one.

@babylonghorn16 Yes, this! I definitely think we all have a different mindset with our pregnancies because of IF. I'll tell people about something funny or whatever, and they go "oh just wait until this bad/annoying thing happens." All I can think is "okay, I'll deal with it if it does!" I've definitely had days where I'm grumpy about a symptom or just not being able to get comfortable, but I am just so thrilled to be pregnant that I will happily deal with it all for as long as it lasts.

@ADRIANAC1982 I am SO SO glad you got to a doc who is going to work hard for you and your baby! We will continue to pray for you guys.

  • I have a random question. It is starting to get cold in Michigan and I am afraid my winter coats won't fit me much longer. Does anyone have suggestions where to buy warm winter maternity coats at a reasonable price?  I am not a huge fan of puffer coats and that is all I can find for less than $150-$200.

  • @kelrauh Unfortunately that's all I could find too, and I HATE them. But I wasn't willing to spend $100 on a coat I'll wear for 3 months. So I bit the bullet and got one from Walmart that is doing the trick. I don't even care what it looks like at this point. It's keeping me warm and it was $20.

  • Has anyone had their nausea return? Mine has been gone since about 16 weeks, but came back full force last night. I thought maybe it was something I ate, but I've had it on and off all day today as well. Please let this be temporary! I can't live like that again :confounded:

  • @NurseTMD85 - I saw the same one and said if I cant find a non-puffer for a reasonable price I would just buy that one. I love coats, but I cant bring myself to spend a fortune one that I will only wear for one season.
I am only 12 weeks so I am not much help on the return of nausea as I am still fighting it to start. I use diclegis which is essentially Unisom and vitamin B6. It might be worth going and buying Unisom and Vitamin B6 over the counter and taking it at night (bonus is that it can help you sleep like a baby).

  • @dragonfaerie haha! add in some back pain in there and I look like a total penguin walking these days.

@kelrauh I also couldn't justify spending a lot on a jacket I won't need for that long, so I found one at old navy and it was on sale for $55. https://oldnavy.gap.com/browse/product.do?pid=2749320020005&cid=1072152&locale=en_US

  • @kelrauh I'm not buying a winter coat. It doesn't get super cold where I live, and it definitely never snows, so I bought a thick sweater to wear that I can put my regular winter coat over and just not button once it gets cold enough.

  • @kelrauh I've wondered the same thing. My winter coats have zero room for expansion in them and I can't see them fitting anymore by the end of December. I haven't even started looking yet though but I need to get on it! Coats are so expensive!
