WAYDTGKU: Prenatals, OPKs and trying to figure out temping
R/R: It's so nice outside for November where I live, normally, it's freezing at this time of year...but the news said to expect snow this week....
CS/Q: This is my first month of temping and I seem to be all over the place. Part of the problem I think is that I frequently wake up throughout the night to use the restroom (like 4-6 times), so I do not have any stretches beyond 2 hours of consistent sleep. Has anyone else had this problem?
This is my first cycle charting...does this seem "typical" for the first part of the cycle? I usually take my temp around 6:40am when I am waking up for the day. Here is my chart so far:
GTKY: What is your favorite activity to do with your DH/SO?
Hmm, I really love going on hikes with our dog and DH.
@beachbunnyxo123 There’s a part of me that would love to get
outdoor decorating early but I’m a firm believer in the no Christmas things out
until the day after Thanksgiving
@Sailing_Mama Some people just don’t get it and never
will. Thankfully we have each other to
lean on when things like this happen
@norahbeansmom DH and I sometimes cook together but he’s
actually better than me so I try to stay out of his way when he’s working on deliciousness
@Ohemgee So sorry your DH and his friend were
inconsiderate. I would’ve gone out and
told them to keep it down
@linzrunz Welcome back!
I’m glad to hear that you’re doing better!
@LadyMillil That’s good to know for when I finally cave and
start using OPKs
@Dinosaur I usually get mildly annoyed when I have to do
some adulting like cleaning and grocery shopping
@metrogirl Welcome! I
hope your stay here is short and remember, there is no such thing as TMI or
stupid questions here!
@wabash15 The weather is so nice here too. We took the dog out to the local dog
park.
@baileygomez I’ve had some rocky temps before. Remember you are
looking for the bigger picture not individual temps.
Month/Cycle: 6/8
CD: 2
WAYDTGKU: not enough
obviously
R/R: I wasn’t originally
going to flame the drive-by on the grad thread but after a few others did, I
decided to add a little something. I
certainly didn’t need it after my day yesterday. Although, watching my puppy eat her birthday
treat last night really helped cheer up both me and DH (I’ll post pics tomorrow
). DH was torn up yesterday beyond
just worrying about me and he just held me while I sobbed uncontrollably. It reminds me time and again how much I love
him and how amazing he is. In case
anyone is wondering, I have decided that I’m going to see if this cycle is
normal and if it’s only 15-16 days again then I’m calling my doctor and demand
that something be done. Also, other than
yesterday being CD1, it was also the month rollover *sigh* Thank you to everyone that offered their “condolences”
on my situation yesterday, I love all you ladies more than you know!
CS/Q: I’m considering
taking the month off from temping like a few others here.
GTKY: What is your favorite
activity to do with your DH/SO? Playing chess.
We don’t play all that often, but he is the one who taught me a couple
years ago and I beat him for the first time a few weeks ago!

@adirat take all of the time you need to "wallow." I know it sounds very kumbaya-ish but I think that allowing yourself to "feel your feelings" is very important. I have my FX very tightly for you this month
@Brooklyngirl6 I agree with @starla and would start OPKs around CD12. I have a crazy short surge and basically have to pee on ALL THE THINGS 3x per day from CD 10 - CD 17 to catch it. Initially I bought CB digital OPKs but quickly realized that I needed to invest in Wondfos so that I wouldn't need to take out a second mortgage on my house!
@linzrunz welcome back! So glad to hear that you're feeling a bit better.
@lulu1180 I noticed the same thing last night when I looked at her activity. Rude douche-Bs aside, I can't wait to see the pics of your puppy's birthday!

@baileygomez I usually don't temp during AF as my temps are typically higher until she's gone. I think things look good the only thing I would say is try your best to temp at the same time every day. Your last two temps are open circles, it's not such a big deal early on but as you approach your FW you'll be able to narrow down O the best if your temping the same time daily. GL!
@lulu1180 sorry for the tough day yesterday. Glad you enjoyed the time with your pup though! Can't wait to see pictures!
@beachbunnyxo123: Thanks for the insights. I always test between 6:10-6:50am. I honestly don't have much control over when I wake up, as I have pretty crazy sleep patterns. So I thought it was best to take the temp as soon as you wake up. I have an alarm set for 6:40am, but I usually wake up before it. So not sure how to consistently temp at the same time. Given my sleep patterns are so all over the place, I really try to stay to asleep as long as possible, so hence the reason for a 6:40am alarm.
Random Rant (The Bump isn't allowing me to edit my original post via mobile): DH just told me he booked his annual trip to Texas to see the Cowboys play. It happens to fall literally the weekend of my FW and ovulation for that month. So if we aren't successful this month, we can basically count December out too. He will leave on Friday and return on Monday, projected O is Sunday. So I guess we could try on Thursday. Trying not to get too annoyed, but it's quite frustrating. Of all the dang weekends?!?!
@Sailing_Mama. I don't test at work, but I usually test right when I get home. I try not to use the restroom for the afternoon, and I tend to be able to turn opks for at least a couple of days, so I don't usually have to worry about missing a surge. However, that took some trial and error to learn.
@lizrunz Good luck with the ultrasound on 11/21. It's great that so far the testing has been positive! Fingers crossed for you.
R/R: not really anything today...except that I don't want to go to work tomorrow
CS/Q: nope.
GTKY: What is your favorite activity to do with your DH/SO?
As far as specific experiences, we like doing specialty dinners together every now and then. We've done some wine and beer paired dinners and it's great to be able to share each other's interests (wine v beer) with something united like food.
@baileygomez it's normal for temps to be all over the place during AF. If you're temping close to the same time every day it should start to even out now. It sucks about the weekend, but keep in mind that sperm can live inside you for 5 days so if you do O on that Sunday you could still get -5, -4, -3 timing, plus before YH leaves on Friday (-2).
@ChefRamsay I don't know. I don't recall anyone owning up to being a Vikings fan. Also I am going to pretend you did not indicate you are a 49ers fan so that we can still be friends.
@Sailing_mama and @Starla I don't use OPKs at work -- the bathroom would not be conducive. I test first thing when I get home instead. There are cycles I've missed my true positive, but I can't do it at work.
@lulu1180 Good for you! I hope you don't have another crazy cycle, but if you do, you should demand testing. I have to say, I've sometimes been skeptical about how aggressive to be, but the ladies on here have repeatedly encouraged me to ask for explanations and advocate for myself, and I have never once regretted it (even if I felt awkward in the moment). Good luck.
@baileygomez, I'm in the same boat for next month, except that I'm the one who is traveling. I'll be gone the entire week, and if I ovulate on time per FF, I'll get home the evening of my ovulation day.
That would put us at -5, 0 timing for December.....ouch.
What's that saying, make plans and the universe laughs at you?
@LadyMillil: yes, all hope will not be lost, but morning of Friday is a basic no. We have tried having sex in the mornings before....and well, let's just say it never ends well. DH has a hard time finishing in the morning and waking up before 6:30am to DTD would not bode well for us. But we shall see.
@sheknows6: Sorry to hear you are travelling as well. I agree, the universe sometimes like to send a big middle finger when we start to get confident with our planning.
@Sailing_Mama thanks! @linzrunz welcome back and I'm glad you're feeling better. @lulu1180 thanks and I'm sure I'll have a lot of questions coming for the group @metrogirl welcome!
Here from posting/lurking in TWW.... Posting late but felt the need to share.
Month/Cycle: 5
CD: 2
WAYDTGKU: Was temping, opk, prenatals, tracking EVERYTHING... Thinking about scaling back a little.
R/R: This is only my second "normal" cycle since coming off bc and it is so heavy this time!!! Ugh. Also, my username will not switch over even though I have changed it... I feel so random
CS/Q: How do you stay excited about ttc?? I know 5 cycles is nothing compared to what some of you ladies have been through, but I'm starting to feel blah about it all...
GTKY: What is your favorite activity to do with your DH/SO? Going to the movies... We saw Doctor Strange today and it was pretty good.
... Me: 26 DH: 25 Married: October 2015 TTC #1 since July 2016
@adirat Thank you !! It's nice to be back with all of you wonderful ladies, and I'm feeling much more at peace than I was the last couple of weeks. And while I am glad to see you, I wish you weren't back on this side of the cycle.
@Knottie87298476 I believe if you change your username it takes a bit to kick over to the new name. Also, have you tried logging out and then logging back in after you change it? I think you have to log out for the change to register.
ETA: Sorry Knottie, I forgot to actually answer your questions!
As to scaling back, you have to do what works the best for you, but would it help if you maybe temped and then focused on just one secondary sign to track? Trying to figure out what cp/cm/opks/temping/etc is telling you when it seems like they may be telling you different things can be overwhelming. Maybe picking the most regular secondary sign to track would be less stressful? My cycles are irregular, so without tracking it would be next to impossible to really know what was going on, even with secondary signs. I find that temping and charting really helps keep me sane, but I also think it can definitely cause stress in others.
As far as trying to stay excited, I'm not trying to be a Debbie downer, but I don't think I really have excitement anymore in the standard sense of the word...that adrenaline rush has sort of fled since we started down this path in 5/15. However, I do think the hopfulness endures. It can be hard, but focusing on the joy I know I'll feel if I ever get to have my take home baby and watch him/her grow up helps to keep the dark thoughts at bay.
@JulesDP that J-law gif is perfect. @sheknows6 I'm traveling for work next month too but dates are still TBD, but it's looking like my whole FW.
