19 weeks. Still can't believe I am almost halfway done.

    Appointments this week?
Nope, not until next week - anatomy scan on Wednesday. Alternating between excitement and fear for that appointment.
    Symptoms?
Nausea is much better so I think I am going to try going off the diclegis again this week and see what happens. Also (TMI Warning!) started getting a lot more discharge in the past week or so. It's still clear/white as it was before, there is just more of it. It freaked me out at first but it seems normal (according to Dr. Google). Anyone else?
    Rant/Rave/Questions?
Rant - I just want this pregnancy to feel real. I am really struggling lately.
Question - has anyone had family (other than their partner) come with them to the anatomy scan? My mom knows I am super scared and she wants to come, along with my husband. I asked my OB's office and they said I can bring whoever I want (their ultrasound room is pretty big). I really want her there, but I am scared that we will get bad news and it will upset her. However, this is somewhat irrational, because even if we were to get bad news, I would tell her immediately anyway. What do people think?
GTKY: What was your favorite subject in school?
Math all the way. I loved math as a kid, and I was in math league in high school - I was a pretty big nerd :) In college I majored in Finance/minored in Math. I love logic and rules and formulas. Probably why I am not a fan of pregnancy and all of these unknowns.

  • @kitkat8387 I have been having crazy amounts of discharge this whole pregnancy. I don't remember it being this much with DS, but yes, it is normal. Also, I say bring your mom! We took my boys to our elective sex ultrasound. Do you have a reason to believe something may be wrong? Or is it just an irrational fear? Honestly, if having your mom there makes you more comfortable, I say bring her.

  • @KirstinH88 just an irrational fear due to my anxiety. Everything so far has looked great. Thanks for the advice!

Appointments this week? Had one yesterday, hence the last post.  I went through with the amnio.  The sequential screen came back with a 1/10 chance of Down Syndrome.  The QNatal came back with a 1/10000 chance.  I wasn't comfortable with the huge difference between the tests and needed something definitive so I can stop worrying and start planning if needed.

Symptoms? Just peeing myself when I cough.  Hopefully this thing will be on it's way out sooner than later.  I'd like to be healthy for my birthday.

Rant/Rave/Questions? I think it's insane that more than half the tests I've gone through have a 10 day turnaround for results.  I have to wonder if that's like an industry standard.

GTKY: What was your favorite subject in school?  I had a really cool law class in high school where we watched movies twice a week.  I also had a non-traditional gym class I loved where we went hiking, biking, and canoeing for half the semester, then played team building games the rest of the semester.

  • @kitkat8387 One thought I have for you - have you asked your husband?  I have a friend that included her mom in everything and afterwards her husband said he felt useless because her mom "stood in" for him.  Since your starting a family together it would be nice to get his feedback.  If he's comfortable with her being there, I say go for it.  The more support the better.

  • @pammasu0909 that is great advice. I did ask him and he's happy for her to come. His parents are not very involved in our lives and I think he appreciates that my mom is so interested and will be so much help when we have this baby. I think I'm going to have her come after thinking about it some more. It will be a fun way for her to connect with the baby before it's born, and if anything were to be wrong, I would tell her immediately after the appointment anyway.

  • @pammasu0909 I'm also super jealous of your non- traditional gym class in school!! We didn't have anything like that and it made me HATE gym because I wasn't athletic (in the competitive sports sense). Took me years as an adult to realize I love being outdoors and exploring, just not competing!
