How much will everyone be paying for health insurance for their families next year?

We will be paying $550 a month w/ a 4000 out of pock max. for the family.   Seems like a lot.
Add that to the $2,200 we will be paying in a daycare + student loans, and things are going to be tight with two kids! Sorry my posts are always about insurance and money, but I would love to know what other people are paying.

  • I'm not trying to be rude, but I think you need to meet with a professional about your insurance. As you said, every time you post it's about insurance and this is a board about pregnancy. Unless someone on this page works in the insurance field, I think you're better off speaking to someone more suited to talk to you about your options.
Agree. Also the cost of insurance and coverage will vary greatly depending on what state you are in and whether you/your spouse have benefits through work.
  • I think insurance and pregnancy go hand in hand actually.  Especially babies that are due around now and people having the chance of paying a double deductible.  I have a special needs kid and a baby on the way,  so the chance of a double deductible and insurance rates sky rocketing next year is quite scary.  Our insurance will be going up a grand in out of pocket max.  That isn't something you want to hear with a special needs kid.  I don't post much on here either but I also am quite busy with him.  I understand your concern and  (needing support) wondering about others and what is going on in insurance.  It is not a normal year with the election and insurance companies.  I hope you can find a cheaper rate but I don't know if it's even possible with how it's supposed to affect everyone.
  • Insurance and pregnancy do go hand in hand but I think it's a bit personal to ask people how much they're paying for it, especially if you haven't been an active participant in other areas of the board.

Like PP said insurance varies greatly by where you live, the type you have, how many people are on your policy, and so many other factors.

  • The insurance policies in my workplace alone vary greatly, I can't imagine how many different types of policies everyone on this board would have and then we also have people on here outside of the US. It would be wiser to consult with someone from your HR or insurance company if you have questions about it.

    Me: 33 DH: 38 Married: 1/10/15

1st Pregnancy EDD: 1/1/17 Born 1/10/17 Team Green turned Blue!

2nd Pregnancy EDD: 11/6/18 Born 11/09/18 Baby Boy!

    3rd Pregnancy EDD: 12/?/21

Children are like casseroles; it takes a lot to mess them up.

  • My husband works for an automotive company and the benefits are great. When we add baby and move to the family plan our monthly premium is $165 I think. It's the middle deductible option, I think the max is $3500. All of my prenatal care has no copay so we won't even meet it this year, but we will right away with delivery next year.

I feel for for those of you dealing with open enrollment and the marketplace right now. I can't imagine paying $500 a month for health insurance. That's rent for some people!

Yeah I don't think you're going to get very informative answers from random people located all over the place, on different insurance companies, and in different companies that have different benefits.

Anecdote: My fiancee and I both get the same exact insurance plan from the same exact insurance company through our work (at different companies) and we pay wildly different amounts for co-share due to the fact that our companies pay different amounts of the premium.

Hi All, my insurance premium just jumped $300/mo from being $350/mo to $650.   My company pays 75% and I am paying 25%.  Although we didn't have a deductible for 2016 for 2017 our deductible went to $250.00 which is ok but we have the "Gold" Plan through the Health Exchange (Obama Care).  What sucks is that this is the second insurance company we've had, the first one declared bankruptcy and failed to pay the doctors's bills.  fun... We now have a really good insurance which works with the doctor.  its tight but i'm ok with the cost since it covers everything except 1500 of the delivery.

  • I understand the market place plans very well, and my the options under my husband's employer very well.  I have spent a lot of time dealing with the insurance companies, market place, and HR individuals at my husband's place of employment.

I just wanted to know how our prices compared to other people's plans and just wanted random input from others... I just think it's ridiculous that we will be paying so much for health insurance and I wanted to see what other people are getting.  I'm frustrated that in our fields, we don't get better insurance coverage.

I think you're misunderstanding the majority of responses here. Depending on several factors (location, employment, income, marital status, etc), rates will vary an incredible amount, so unless you are asking someone in your same location, with the same or similar employer at the same income level, you aren't going to get accurate, helpful information.

  • Of course everyones circumstances are different, I want to know what it is like for the people out there in different circumstances than myself, that is exactly why I asked.  I of course know what it is like in my circumstances and my market, I wanted to see how it compared to others!
  • There's really no way to compare insurances in any kind of meaningful way unless a lot of factors are constant.  A google search might be a better way to get the exact information you are looking for.  Also, I'm not sure how many people would be comfortable sharing personal and financial information in a public forum like this, I know I'm not.
