  • How far along are you? 15 weeks

How big is baby? Navel orange, Cinnamon roll (YUM!), Travel size deodorant

Do you know the sex yet? Team Blue, Pink, Green? Team Blue

    Appointments this week?
Monday! Short OB appt, heartbeat, and more blood draws.

Symptoms? Nothing much this week. Other than being extremely exhausted and worn out.

Rants/Raves/Questions: It's been an extremely rough week in the household. DH's aunt was hospitalized and released to go home and receive hospice care until she passed on Thursday. Much of the week, we had been spending with family and waiting for her last days. I've had to take days off so my MIL doesn't have to worry about picking DS up from preschool and caring for him. My leave time is dwindling, which I was trying to save. My house looks like a bomb went off. And my poor puppy has been getting less than desired amount of attention. It is just rough on all fronts.

GTKY: What's your favorite Thanksgiving side dish? Definitely mashed potatoes and gravy. But I want them soft, fluffy, and creamy. I can't stand it when they are chunky or gritty.

Do you know the sex yet? Team Blue, Pink, Green? We are TEAM GREEN!!!

Appointments this week? Next Friday we have our first ultrasound to check baby's growth since 12weeks

Symptoms? Nausea is still there but way less, my boobs always feel like they are on fire lol but that's it!

Rant/Rave/Questions? Rave-pretty excited I found an OB who is 200% pro-VBAC! That's super exciting to me!

GTKY: What's your favorite Thanksgiving side dish? I love me some mashed potatoes and gravy!

  • @Aarg were you team green with your LO before? I'm always impressed by the team green crowd. Also, glad your OB is pro VBAC, I know that can be a tough thing to find in an OB. Hopefully you get that dream birth!

  • @KirstinH88 sorry to hear about your aunt.  It sounds like you've had a rough week.  When are the services?

How far along are you? 16 weeks

How big is baby? Honestly, no idea :/

Do you know the sex yet? Team Blue, Pink, Green? Team Green (for now...I keep debating finding out because we are so stuck on a boy's name.  If we don't have to worry about it, it might be nice to know.)

    Appointments this week?
    Not for another 2 weeks.

Symptoms? Much less nauseous, which is a huge relief!  I'm only sick in the morning now and then ok the rest of the day.  I'm still so tired though.  Sleeping 10+ hours a day and napping on the weekends.  Today and yesterday I've had a lot of period like dull cramps and my lady parts are throbbing. I just wish I could use a heating pad like I would with my period.

Rant/Rave/Questions? This is sort of a dumb question, but to stay Team Green, would we have to avoid looking at an ultrasound completely?  We didn't have an ultrasound at all with DD but I would like to get an anatomy scan this time.  I know this is silly but I don't know how it goes - is it pretty obvious at that point what you are looking at?  Or would we need to look away the whole time?

GTKY: What's your favorite Thanksgiving side dish?
Green bean casserole. Or DH's gravy.  It's so good - last year, DD literally drank it and that was her whole feast.

  • @cafedisco I'm not sure that services have been set yet. I believe sometime next week.

I believe if you are team green (but honestly, I have no clue) that you could tell the tech right at the start and they either won't look down there, or they will turn the screen away from you so you don't see that part of the ultrasound.

    Appointments this week? yes! Tuesday.

Symptoms? Growing pains, heartburn, hips ache, still dry heaving in the AM

Rant/Rave/Questions? Sorted through all of the old baby clothing and cloth diapers today! Started shopping around for strollers and car seats.

GTKY: What's your favorite Thanksgiving side dish? Stuffing or corn casserole (really, whatever my mom makes)

  • @ebloom3 Ugh, you reminded me that sorting the baby clothes has to happen at some point!  How did your experience go?  I tried to be very thoughtful when packing things up in the first place but I don't know how well that will work out when unpacking.

  • @cafedisco @ebloom3 The room that will be our nursery was basically our "junk" room. I tried not to let it get too out of hand, but all the clothes that currently didn't fit the boys just sat in piles upon piles. Last weekend (or maybe 2 weekends ago), I finally went and bought tubs and put all the clothes in. The only ones I left out were size newborn through 3-6 months. It was kind of nice to look back at all those tiny clothes :) Now I need to clear off the "changing table" as it has transformed into a nice table to hold anything and everything.

  • Maybe looking through baby clothes will get me more excited for the baby part of all this.  I keep forgetting that's why I'm going through all the crap of pregnancy.

I don't think I'm going to do a nursery at all...we have 3 bedrooms and the 3rd is like yours Kirstin, just a junk room basically.  LO will be in our room for quite a while and then I'm just crossing my fingers we could have the kids share. I'd really like to make an awesome play room in the 3rd bedroom but I'm not sure reality will let that happen any time soon.  I like the idea of them playing in a different room than where they sleep.  Currently, DD's toys are spread ALL over the house and she never plays alone in her room.  I'm thinking a cool play room may help with that..?!

  • @cafedisco I always loved the idea of a separate play room! Clear out the junk room. Hahaha! I'm definitely nesting at 15 weeks. Told DH that tmrw we are going to pick out and buy the paint for the baby's room.

  • How far along are you? 17 weeks.

How big is baby? I read somewhere about the size of an iPhone. 5 inches and 5 oz, give or take.

Do you know the sex yet? Team Blue, Pink, Green? we find out (hopefully) at our anatomy scan in 24 days. November 29th.

    Appointments this week?
nope. I had my midwife appointment this last week. I don't have anything until my anatomy scan and then a midwife appointment 2 days later.

Symptoms? SPD is killing me. So much pain. Sorry, I am going to sound like a repeating parrot about that. It is just going to get worse for the rest of the pregnancy. I have been trying to sit as much as I possibly can and definitely notice a difference on days that I am up all day. Those days end up with me literally not having the ability to move my legs right by the time I go to sleep. A little scary. Oh well.

Rant/Rave/Questions? Our entire lives are still completely up in the air. Still living with SIL. Still looking for an architecture job for DH. Still not knowing where we are going to be living 1, 2 or 3 months from now. I am pretty sure I will start getting out the baby things/buying new things around 35 weeks, because that is sort of the deadline for knowing where we are going to be for the birth. I try and just not think about it very much because if I think about it to much than the idea of divorce sounds better. That sounds horrible. But, honestly it is true. If I think about all the ways I am miserable and horribly disappointed in DH than I will want to leave him. So, I ignore reality most days. I went to a baby shower today though, for someone else, and it caused a few moments of absolutely out of control crazy panic. So, I don't know what I will do. Seriously. No idea.

GTKY: What's your favorite Thanksgiving side dish?
Probably my mom's sweet potatoes. Or really anything of my mom's. Thanksgiving with DH's family is just one cruel disappointment after another. I am way to spoiled by my mom's amazing cooking.

    Appointments this week? No

Symptoms? Hips are achy and boobs are getting huge!

Rant/Rave/Questions? I am so impressed by you ladies who have started going through old stuff and getting baby's room organized. I am also going to be cleaning out a guest room/office/laundry room for the new baby. I am so overwhelmed with what to do with all that stuff I haven't even started.

@KirstinH88  and @mrsstuessy I am sorry to hear you are going through a challenging time. Sending T&Ps to you both!

GTKY: What's your favorite Thanksgiving side dish? Mashed potatoes are a must, and my sister makes a delicious corn soufflé.

  • @cafedisco It took about 3 and a half hours to sort everything. This is the only time I wish I was finding out the sex! I am trying to get rid of as much as possible, so we can maximize space, but it's hard when we are hanging into a lot of clothing (at least until the baby arrives). My best friend just found out she's about 6 weeks pregnant. She has 2 boys and is due around the time when I had DD. If we have a boy I'm hoping she has a girl because she will inherit clothing that will last about 2 years!

How big is baby? the size of a hot dog?

Do you know the sex yet? Team Blue, Pink, Green?  We find out TUESDAY!

    Appointments this week?
Anatomy scan on Tuesday. So stinkin excited!

Symptoms? Energy is still up this week but have been having some strange stomach discomfort really low.  I'm guessing it's just muscles and things expanding now that I am showing a tiny bit.

Rant/Rave/Questions? I have a couple this week.  We ordered scratch off reveal cards from Etsy to send to our parents after our appointment Tuesday and for DH and I to find out together after the appointment.  They shipped on Monday and didn't even leave the post office until Friday.  So now I am worried they won't be here in time for us to use it to find out.  I definitely don't want to find out IN the appointment so I will be disappointed if they aren't  here in time.

Second, now that our anatomy scan is so close I am getting really frustrated with both sets of parents going all "oh you're no fun for finding out if it's a boy or girl.  Back in our day....blah blah blah".  I get it, you guys didn't find out.  I want to.  End of story.  It's going to be a surprise either way.  I'm really hoping finding out the sex makes me feel more excited and makes this pregnancy more real so I am definitely finding out.  They can just deal with it :p

GTKY: What's your favorite Thanksgiving side dish?
Anything carb related.  Mashed potatoes and gravy are probably the top.  However, we also have a family tradition that I started with my grandma when I was little.  We always have homemade macaroni and cheese at every holiday.  Now that she is gone I love that we still have our tradition and it reminds me of her.

@mrsstuessy @KirstinH88 So sorry that life is so rough on both of you right now.  I hope that things get better and life settles down for both of you.

  • Thanks for the kind words everyone. I just keep telling myself that no matter what, it will get better someday. And, my kids won't starve in the meantime. @cafedisco I get a lot of joy from planning. So, it makes me so sad that so much of the joy of this pregnancy has been taken from me. I like being spontaneous as well, but planning is so fun for me. I just try and avoid even thinking about most baby related things, other than my excitement for the actual baby. And every week I get a week further makes me happy because I am that much closer to seeing my baby and not being in awful pain anymore. But, it also makes me a week closer to my baby coming out and us having nowhere to put him/her and another week closer to me leaving my husband for awhile to live somewhere else.

Thank you you all for your sweet words. This may sound horrible, but I don't intend for it to come out this way, but now that DH's aunt has actually passed, life has already calmed down. We are home, the kids are back on a schedule, homework is getting done, we are having dinners, etc. It's so strange how getting off your regular schedule totally throws your whole life/attitude out of whack.

A cream corn dish that my mom makes.
  • @cafedisco Well, the ultimatum that I have had to unfortunately make is that if we are not on our own by the time the baby is born I will be going to live with my parents, 4 hours away from where we are now. It is partially for space, but so much more for my sanity and the good of my own children. It is not a good situation for me living where we are now, partially for space, but mostly because of being taken advantage of/not listened to/not treated with respect... etc. It is the reason for the depression I have been dealing with for 5 months now. I know, beyond a shadow of a doubt that staying here, recovering from having a baby and taking care of both of my children will not work. There will definitely be PPD or PPA. It will not be healthy for me. DH has listened to me tell him that, but deep down I don't think he believes me and he refuses to put our family first. So, I will not be shocked if that has to happen and I'm not sure our marriage would make it through that.

I'm really sad that your H doesn't seem to get what you're going through emotionally.  Has it always been like this or just stresses of life have built up lately?

  • @mrsstuessy I'm so sorry for everything, especially your husband not putting your family first! Also the pain you're currently in is miserable I hope you get some relief soon. I suffered from SPD with my last pregnancy, i was lucky and it healed after about 4 months after having DD. However, it has reared its ugly head earlier this time. I feel like someone is constantly stabbing me in the pubic bone with a hot knife, and yesterday after going to a theme park, and sitting for what felt like half the trip, with my family I could hardly walk after laying down for a little bit last night.
