I am 6 weeks 4 days and just went to the bathroom and had brown discharge. When I wiped though I had a red discharge. I'd say it was bright which is freaking me out. I know some light spotting can be normal, but this didn't happen w my previous 3 pregnancies so I'm worried. I have mild cramping and if it weren't for the blood I would say it's RLP.
This happened 2 hours ago and now I'm obsessively going to the restroom to check. So far I haven't seen anymore. If you've miscarried in the past what was it like for you? I'm not going to go to the ER unless I'm heavily bleeding bc I know there's nothing they can do, but I'm curious. I hope it's ok that I ask that!
Thanks ladies!! Please say a prayer...as shocking as this pregnancy has been, we've turned a corner and are so grateful for it. I am so sad thinking this might be over though
UPDATE: Thank you for your responses! I only had that one bleed so I'm going to go in on Monday to my doctors office. I do have lower back pain like I do with my period and some cramping. It's cramping and aching that I may not have thought anything of it I hadn't bled. I'm not feeling very hopeful, but really trying to just get through the weekend!

I wouldn't be too concerned just yet. Some spotting can be normal during pregnancy. Does your OB have an after hours number? It's worth a call if it'll calm your nerves.
As a follow up to what I said above: do get it checked out when you can, 59 be safe and ensure everything is going smoothly. That can even pinpoint the cause of the spotting, occasionally.
I have had bleeding in all of my pregnancies besides my miscarriage. Sometimes it was dark brown, sometimes it was bright red, and each for different reasons (bleeding on my cervix, SCH, etc.). I had no bleeding with my miscarriage.
I agree to call an after hours line, if your OB has one. FX it is nothing.
Sounds like nothing, due to small quantity of blood and low intensity of cramping. FX for you though and hoping your OB after hours can give you some reassurance!
I have had spotting with 3 of my pregnancies-I actually went in to the doctor today (due to spotting) and the ultrasound picked up that I have a subchorionic hemorrhage. Basically a bleed, and I'm hoping my body absorbs it, but until that happens, I was told to expect spotting. If I were to fill a pad within an hour I would go back in and check things out. Hang in there, and if you ever feel uncomfortable about something relating to your pregnancy always call your doctor. They have saved my anxiety from Dr. Google. You got this, lady! Keep us updated.

I have never heard of a subchorionic hemorrhage but I hope yours resolves itself. Could you possibly have it the entire pregnancy? Right now I just have kind of a constant twinge in my lower abdomen. I do have a cyst and while it's leaking, I believe it's just fluid and not a blood filled cyst. I'm really hoping that that's a reason though.

I had an SCH with DD and it was gone within a month or so. My OB put me on progesterone suppositories to help speed the healing process. Once it healed, the spotting was gone, too
*lurking* I had a MC in July at 6+2 - I had brown discharge off and on from O (with a bit of bright red at around 8dpo) until the MC. I went to the washroom and had a bit of pink, and within an hour I was bleeding HARD. Like, going to the washroom every hour and bleeding out almost as much as I would bleed in a day or two of regular AF combined. My cramps weren't super painful and sharp like I thought they'd be. My cramps felt like a constant ache from front to back and I felt like I had to have a bowel movement (but didn't actually have to). I hope your spotting turns out to be nothing serious!

I had a little bit of red when I wiped, plus what I thought was cramping but was a little more painful than expected, and it turned out I had a UTI, which is easily treatable with antibiotics.
Good luck! Lots of times it's nothing so try not to worry while you figure it out.
Spotting can be nerve racking. I had some light spotting earlier in this pregnancy, at about 6 weeks, that turned out to be nothing. I called my OB and she put in an order for blood work for me.
*TW*If it makes you feel any better, my previous pregnancy ended in a miscarriage at 10 weeks. About a week before I started having menstrual type cramps. I then started spotting bright red and then within maybe an hour or so it progressed to period type flow. It became heavier and heavier over the next 36 hours until I started having full on contractions and then I miscarried.

Your description of your cramps and BM's is exactly how I'm feeling. No more blood, but in my mind I'm not expecting to see a heartbeat on Monday. I feel like my body started to MC w the bleeding and now I'm just waiting for more. Thanks for sharing your story, but I'm sorry you went through that.

I had a miscarriage before this pregnancy. I wiped one morning and a brown watery (almost looked like vinegar) discharge was on the toilet paper. It was like that most of the day. Then that night it turned to red but still light. Then to a full on period (with some dark tissue) for a few days. A lot of cramping had started that night. Bad cramps though. Like I had to lay down and do nothing.
Women bleed for many reasons. I wouldn't be too worried if it was one time and light.
I'm kind of in the same boat...for the past couple of days, when I go to the bathroom there's been brownish discharge when I wipe. Then, this morning it was pink.
I keep reading that this can be normal, but in my head it's just heading toward blood.

Ugh I'm sorry!!! Are you going in to get checked? I've made up my mind that I can't wait a week until my next appt, so I'm calling in the morning. I just need to know one way or the other. I hope your sticky baby is ok mama

@LilLee11 I think if it's still been happening I'll call tomorrow afternoon. I don't have another appointment until Nov 16, so I know I'll need to know something before then if it doesn't stop.
Let us know if you go in tomorrow! FX that we are both just fine!
Spotting is nerve wracking. It could just be nothing - seems to often happen after sex too if the cervix is sensitive.
I had a loss at 7 weeks 5 days in June. It started off as brown spotting that never tapered off. I found it helpful to talk to a nurse. Just keep calling until they think (based off your symptoms) that you should come in. I think I just knew at the time that something was wrong - I had felt a loss in pregnancy symptoms for a few days but thought maybe I made it up. When I went to triage there was a heartbeat so the nurses on call brushed me off - but I knew something was wrong...
Not much you can do but wait and if possible try to stay calm. Easier said than done I know. I think you are wise to ask for others' experience though- I was overwhelmed at how much I didn't know and had to google really quickly when things took a downward turn - it sucked.
@caribbeanmama thanks for sharing your story! Just curious - when they saw the heartbeat in triage was it lower than expected? I'm so glad you're here now and wish you lots of sticky baby dust and a healthy pregnancy!

@LilLee11 thanks for the good wishes! I'm so glad they saw a heartbeat when you went in - yay!
The reason the nurses brushed me off after seeing the heartbeat is that statistically speaking, as far as early losses go - seeing a heartbeat reduces the likelihood of a miscarriage significantly! The heartbeat was 120 - and I remember thinking lower than DS1 - it's in the range of normal though. The part that they didn't pay attention to was that the baby was measuring 10 days behind - I knew I could be two or three days off because it's impossible to know when implantation occurs - but hubby and I only did the deed once that month so I was sure of my dates.
I had a missed miscarriage last year and only noticed a pink spot once. I never had any cramping or anything. Wasn't until we did US at 10 weeks that we found out there was no heart beat. It sucked and I ended up having to do D&C because I never passed much naturally.
When I was pregnant with DD, I spotted brown and pink throughout my whole pregnancy.

With my last pregnancy, I miscarried at 7 weeks. I started spotting dark brown abd that continues for a week. Then one day I started cramping really hard. I realized I was cramping in waves, and my elastic band on my skirt was bothering because of the weird pressure. After cramping for about an hour I started bleeding a lot. I passed a lot of tissue the following day, and continued to bleed pretty hard for about a week. I still had some pregnancy symptoms even after.
