Perhaps I'm more aware this year then other years, but I find this to be the most horrific election I have ever witnessed. I was a diehard democrat for many years.... these days though I feel like I'm not for either party! I want less/smarter spending, I want others religion to stay out of government, my better education, legalized weed, GMOs labeled....I don't know how to fix the healthcare mess but I know that my costs have gone significantly up.
SouthPark this season refers to "their" candidates as a giant deuche or a turd sandwich. This is really how I feel. I'm just trying to convince myself to choose the lesser evil and not vote third party (which I know will do very little good and I've heard solid arguments it will do more harm).
I went to the office cafeteria for lunch and finally had the appeal of Trump explained to me by the cashier: "I think that a lot of men are going to vote for Trump just so they can watch his wife be the first lady for the next four years... That's what my husband says." Finally, I get it.

And the pipeline just breaks my heart.
I think I'm going to hide for these last 3 months
I really think Hillary is not as bad as people make her out to be, most of the things that people tell me why they dislike her have already been disproven. But alot of people cannot shake this feeling about her, so your not alone. I do dislike the whole thing about South Park comparison with deuche or turd sandwich, a lot of people of been bring it up, not just you because I really feel like comparing Hillary and Trump is false equivalency saying they both are evil and suck. There really is a real difference. Love this article that talks about it, that there really is no comparison between Hillary and Trump when it comes to scandals. https://www.usatoday.com/story/opinion/2016/10/30/comey-fbi-clinton-trump-scandals-lying-women-max-boot/93009718/
But yeah when it comes to the Health care mess, I feel ya. My healthcare cost are going up too. I think the major problem was when they took out the govt option it really hurt Obamcare. It made it so there is no real competition for Health insurance companies to keep their prices low. The sad part is it could be worse... This fact check talks about the numbers: https://www.factcheck.org/2015/02/slower-premium-growth-under-obama/ I hate how Trump and republicans just say they want to repeal but give no real details how they are going to make sure everyone gets high quality and affordable healthcare. I like Hillary plan where she is going to not scrap it but fix the problems, because if we just scrap it, it will never get through congress and we end up what we had before which was way worse.
@skiingstark AMEN!!!! False equivalency kills me. I understand that Hillary may not be people's favorite, but to try and compare her to Trump and say that they are equally bad, corrupt, evil is outrageous to me.
If people want to vote for Trump, for whatever reasons they have, I hope they are legitimate and not because they think each are equally bad. Vote for him because you think he would make a better president, or you agree with his policies (honestly I'm not sure he has them).

Waiting for my husband to come home so we can go vote! Anyone else feel like they're going to be glued to the tv Tuesday night?
Normally I am glued and drinking... sadly I will just be glued and munching on halloween candy to fill the void of alcohol.
Samesies.
Anyone else tempted to go sit in the woods until 9? I am so darn nervous.
OMG yes. I voted by absentee awhile ago, but MA is not exactly a swing state, so I don't feel like I changed much in the national election. I should count myself fortunate that Yurrup is 6hrs ahead of Boston so I can go to bed and wake up on Wednesday with a lot of the nail-biting already over.
As a Social Studies teacher, I got really excited when I saw this, an accurate map that depicts the Dakota Pipeline, I have been looking everywhere for a good map that explains the issue.
So, I'm side-eyeing my state's judicial decisions hardcore right now. Some dude used bear spray on two deputies and is serving 15 years. Not that what he did was right but seriously? It's mace, in a fog format. Those deputies will not have lasting psychological or physical damage from it. Not to mention how widely it's used BY them as a defensive measure against citizens.
Meanwhile the guy I ranted about earlier in this thread got 60 DAYS for a crime that will permanently change the life of a child, especially since she hasn't even been removed from the residence!
Montana justice, I guess. At least the state's pretty
I realized today that this is the first presidential Election Day of my adult life that I will have to suffer through whilst completely sober. I am sincerely concerned about this.
Today was insane and I need all the wine right now but I kept meaning to share this. One of my closest gfs works at a fancyish restaurant in Newport Beach (think the OC) and this happened last night.
I was shocked that I had no wait time at all this morning; just walked right up and voted. One of the other other wards at my polling place did have a line, but it didn't look terrible. Getting a bagel and coffee at Panera took way longer.
On a more serious note, I thought about the historic nature of this election as I got out of my car to vote. Having a woman president isn't something I thought we'd see so soon. But, oddly, I didn't get as emotional as I thought I might. The first time I voted for Obama, I could barely keep from tearing up the whole time I was in line. I'm still proud that I got to vote for the possible/probable/hopefully first lady president, but I wish I had more warm and fuzzies for her.
It didn't stop me from trying to put together my own version of a pantsuit that fits my bump:
Took me over an hour to vote this morning but glad to see this time Ohio voters realized the importance our state seems to hold in elections. I'm already nervous for tonight
If I had an all white outfit, I'd wear it to vote because I just can't get enough of that symbolism. Instead I'll probably be in yoga pants, but DS will be in his Labor Day yay America outfit and possibly carrying a little American flag if I can find it. And we can walk to our polling place so we will be putting on our own 2 person parade.
@homemake Yes! I've been Pantsuiting basically all day. It's helping soothe my anxiety, even though the stories/photos make me tear up almost constantly...they're happy tears, at least!

Threw some mad snarky shade at all the uneducated millennials on my fb who use memes as a means of research and feel compelled to constantly bash/disagree with ANYONE who has an even remotely opposing opinion. It seems pretty common with my age group right now. No one knows who I voted for, and I prefer to keep it that way just for personal reasons but I had a pretty diverse mix of reps/dems on my fb this year. It's pretty impressive considering the town I'm in where the Trump supporters are the overwhelming majority. Woo.
This MFer is unemployed. For the second time this fall. If I didnt like and respect his wife so much (who is now supporting him, of course) I would LOVE to call out his hypocrisy. But instead, I bite my tongue and talk behind his back to you all.
I'm going to bed because ive already had too much stress and anxiety today to watch this. I'm just hoping to wake up to good news when I need to pee again in two hours...
