How far along are you? 13 weeks already! Or, finally?
How big is baby? I think it might be a lemon. I saw on other people's tickers that are using the food ticker that now it's an ice cream scoop. Yum!
Appointments this week? I had one on Monday and it went well. It took the midwife a little bit of time to find the heartbeat, which was nerve-wracking, but everything was ok. We also drew blood for that genetic test in which you can find out the sex of the baby, though we're not finding out. I was prepared to start telling people the news after this appointment, but upon talking to my mom she decided it would make sense to do so after the results of the test, which could be two more weeks. (I have an older sister who has had major infertility problems so we're being delicate about when to start telling people other than our parents. My mom and I also share the fantasy that perhaps by the time I tell her, she will say, "me too!" which would seriously make my year.)
Symptoms? STILL nauseated, though it's definitely better than before. Also, when I'm active for a long time (e.g. standing/walking for 5 hours at a Halloween party this weekend), I get some SPD symptoms (back and groin pain at this point.) This also happens if I'm inactive for a very long period of time. Overall, though, I think I'm finally hitting the "sweet spot" time of the pregnancy.
Rant/Rave/Questions? Not really that's not already covered in the above questions.
GTKY: Are you happy, sad, or "don't care" about the Cubs victory last night? We lived in Chicago for 3 years and just moved over a year ago back to the east coast, where we're both from. So I suppose I was rooting for the cubs, also because they had a 108 yr drought. I think it was more exciting for them to win, and to come from so far behind. Though Cleveland had a drought, too, so I also feel bad for them.
Mostly, though, I'm in the "don't care" category. I honestly can't get my mind off of the election that's less than a week away. I also saw this thing that was maybe speculation but maybe an actual study, in which sports fans tend to vote with the incumbent after a big win/championship (life is good), and vote with the challenger after a big loss (life sucks so we need a change.) Even though you obviously can't blame/give credit to anything political when a sports team wins or loses.
Anyhow, since I am a democrat hoping for a Clinton win, according to this I'd hope for Cleveland to have won, since OH is a swing state and IL is not, and Clinton represents the incumbent party. Basically, a bunch of "life is good" people in IL does us no good, and a bunch of "we need a change" people in OH is harmful. I also think a loss could just suppress turnout in general, which is usually worse for democrats than republicans, especially in the actual city of Cleveland, which is the most democratic part of the state. Ugh, I can't wait for this all to be OVER in a week!
@kat81 I hope your sister handles it well. My sister was not able to have kids but was always excited for a new niece or nephew. But I also hope she could have some "me too" news for you as well.
How far along are you? 14 weeks - yay for the second trimester!
How big is baby? Nectarine
Appointments this week? none this week. I go back on the 15th
Symptoms? I am getting my energy back but for some reason I am just now starting to get some bouts with nausea.
Rant/Rave/Questions? I ordered some maternity clothes from pinkblush maternity based on the recommendations in another thread. I love love the tops I got, but the pants are another story. I really wish the sizing was a little more consistent.
GTKY: Are you happy, sad, or "don't care" about the Cubs victory last night? I am super happy. We are totally a baseball family and once the Royals were out I was only semi interested in playoffs until I saw the Cubs advancing. I am a huge Zobrist fan. I know he was only a Royal for a few months, but he was such a great asset to the team. I am so glad to see him win 2 years in a row and now as MVP.
Symptoms? Still battling nausea. Threw up more in my 12th week than I did the rest of the time. Still tired all the time. Hoping in the next couple of weeks those will both improve.
R/R/Q: nothing really pregnancy related. I'm sick of my 5 year old waking up at 3 am, thinking it's time to party.
GTKY: I really didn't care who won. I don't even really like/watch baseball. Watched last nights game though and it was crazy!
Symptoms? All day nausea - resulting in little to no appetite. Extreme fatigue is getting better!
Rant/Rave/Questions? Like PP - so tired of my DD waking up at 4am thinking its the start of the day! Worried about what the time change this weekend will do! GAHHH the thought of 3am wake ups makes me cringe. Excited that I only have a few more weeks of work left before I am officially DONE! Becoming a SAHM has always been something I wanted to do and I am so happy and lucky that I can. Not looking forward to our big move though in a few weeks.
GTKY: Are you happy, sad, or "don't care" about the Cubs victory last night? Way to go Cubs! Not my team - but happy they were able to come back in the series and win!
Appointments this week? I had blood drawn for NT and have my ultrasound for NT on Nov. 15- excited to see the baby again.
Symptoms? Still extreme fatigue my desire to eat everything nonstop has gone away and it is replaced with slight nausea. It's not enough for me to vomit but I feel it has started to mess with my psyche.
Rant/Rave/Questions? Since DD#1 was born I have had concerns of her muscle tone... After years of pushing my concerns with the Doctor and research we are moving closer to a genetic/ chromosomal disease. We still have a bit more to work through a diagnosis and the impacts of the disease could be minimal to life changing. I am struggling with lots of guilt for her, her sister, and current baby. The "what-ifs" for her are also overwhelming. I am trying to be strong for my husband and my family by not making a big deal but I am freaking out. Just need prayers and good thoughts- I know God is in control. Any Mama's who have been in similar situations- how do you overcome the guilt?
GTKY: Are you happy, sad, or "don't care" about the Cubs victory last night? I am secretly happy for the Cubs to finally of broken the curse of the goat however DH is a die-hard Pirates fan and he is upset they won since they are in the same division.
I was on the Friday ticker change but practice is now going with an EDD of 5/18 instead of the original 5/19. So hi! I'm with y'all now
@kat81 My mom and I have the same fantasy! Except my sister chooses to not have kids. So it's a bummer, but no pressure for her. Have you told your sister yet? I'm sure she will be thrilled for you although it'll be hard for her in some ways.
@awebsteWed218778 I hope your DD miraculously get on a better sleep schedule next week in spite of the time change! And yay to becoming a SAHM! Where are y'all moving to?
How far along are you? 12 weeks
How big is baby? lime
Appointments this week? Just had one this past Monday. I'm a new patient there so they had to schedule a "meeting" with me to go over my health history and make sure my medical record was correct and up to date. Then I had to do blood draw, pap and exam since it's been almost three years since my last one. All I really cared about was knowing there was still a heartbeat and there was one, at 165 bpm. Whew! Next one isn't until after Thanksgiving.
Symptoms? Fatigue, occasional nausea, and a new one: migraine. Thank to the advice of my last BMB, drinking more water seem to help.
Rant/Rave/Questions? Just learning out to deal with the migraines. The lights that bother me more than anything else, so DH has been really sweet about adjusting the lights in the evening so I can be more comfortable. I can't be chugging water at the end of the day or I will be up all night peeing otherwise!
GTKY: Are you happy, sad, or "don't care" about the Cubs victory last night? I had the TV on when the score went to 6-6 so that was exciting to watch. Because of that, I watched until the end of the 9th inning. At that point, it was already midnight for me here on the east coast and I was way too tired to care about staying up for the rest of the game. I have quite a few friends from Chicago area so it was fun to see their excitement.
How big is baby? According to the app, a peach. Aaaaaaaand now I want peaches
Appointments this week? Nope!
Symptoms? Exhaustion, exhaustion, EXHAUSTION. Oh, and hunger. Two things I am just over.
Rant/Rave/Questions? I'm pretty sure if you'd asked me this any other day this week, I'd have a list of complaints a mile long. Today, I'm too tired to even think of what they could be. I kind of want to just fall asleep at my desk (again - I definitely did that earlier this week).
GTKY: Are you happy, sad, or "don't care" about the Cubs victory last night? I pretty much don't care. I'm not a big baseball fan to begin with, so I don't normally get excited by the World Series.
@awebsteWed218778@SparkySunDevil - how old are your kids? My 15 month old son has been waking up all night long lately, and I'm about to lose my mind. I think his is because he's finally getting his back molars. Sending good sleep vibes your way!!
@kat81 - good luck with your sister! I'm sure it will be tough for her to hear, but hopefully she can still be happy for you!!
Symptoms? No more nausea (knock on wood) and I haven't been as tired lately. However, I'm more hormonal than I've been since I was a teenager. It doesn't take much for me to feel overwhelmed, even by the smallest things. I was not this way at all with my first two.
Rant/Rave/Questions? We got the results of the QNatal test yesterday and everything looks good, so now I'm okay with telling the world. We also found out it's another girl. My poor husband is nervous about having 3 crazy hormonal teenagers at the same time, but at least we'll save a lot of money since we won't have to buy much.
GTKY: Are you happy, sad, or "don't care" about the Cubs victory last night? I really don't care, but I understand why people in Chicago are so thrilled. We don't have to pro baseball team here, so I had zero interest in watching the game, but I can compare it to when the Saints won the Super Bowl. The whole city was crazy with excitement. It was one of the most fun nights of my life, and I'm not even that into football.
@MamaMiller I hope you get all the answers you need for your daughter. I know it's hard to stay the strong one, and we mommas often feel that we have to be.
Symptoms? Really tired still and more nausea than usual.
Rant/Rave/Questions? I found another pair of maternity dress pants for $1 yesterday when I was thrifting! H and I told my sisters last Friday night that I'm expecting and my mom caught it all on camera. Since I love going to thrift stores, I gave each sister a gift saying that I found 3 of the same thing when I was thrifting and that we can each have one. I had printed off a picture of my ultrasound with the saying "Only the best big/little sister gets promoted to Auntie..." and put it in matching picture frames for them. It took my older sister a second to get it, but my little sister freaked out with happiness right away. It felt really good to tell them since this will be their first niece/nephew.
GTKY: Are you happy, sad, or "don't care" about the Cubs victory last night? I was really annoyed that the game went into extra innings because I wanted to watch the whole thing, but I also wanted to go to bed. So when the rain delay happened H and I both just went to bed. I like that the series went to 7 games because I like a bit of suspense and drama.
Appointments this week? Just got the results of the Panorama test today: low risk for abnormalities (phew), and we're having a girl! Next week is my 12 week appt/physical.
Symptoms? Exhausted. I'm also in a different phase of being nauseated that's hard to explain. It's different than before, but not really better. Still left side sciatica pain.
Rant/Rave/Questions? Rant. I work with a bunch of children. Not literally... They look like adults, but they all act like children. I had someone ask me last night if they could skip their shift today because they got a huge tattoo yesterday and were sore. Uhhhh... I can't force you to be here, but I'm not excusing that absence, so you'll have to deal with the consequences. The lack of work ethic boggles my mind. I constantly have employees who are late or try to get out of work without a real excuse. Why?? You have the best job ever! It's like they've never had to be responsible before. Sorry, it just drives me nuts, but now we have some new guidelines and I'm cracking down. *slams fist into palm*
GTKY: Are you happy, sad, or "don't care" about the Cubs victory last night? Don't care
How big is baby? 3.5-4 inches. One website said "the size of an iphone 4 screen" which I thought was a funny comparison...
Appointments this week? Nope
Symptoms? Not really.. Feeling like myself again! Just a really emotional version these days LOL, but at least there was no nausea, fatigue, bloating, etc. And I finally stopped taking naps after work this week. That allowed me to get some much needed chores done around the house.
Rant/Rave/Questions? Not today.
GTKY: Are you happy, sad, or "don't care" about the Cubs victory last night? I was cheering for Cleveland, but overall I really enjoyed watching the series.
@ChristinaWild I have a 5 year old and a 2 year old. The 5 year old is the one that keeps waking up around 3 am. It's been this way about 5 months and we are so over it. I called her pediatrician today for advice. A friend suggested I try gummy melatonin....but obviously I want to clear something like that with them first. Unfortunately he's not in the office today, so we have to pray tonight that she sleeps better than last night. Hubby is off tomorrow, which means he'll handle wake-ups. (He drives for a living, so I prefer him to get plenty of rest versus getting up and trying to wrangle her back to bed.)
