worried hardly any weight gain in a month

Please help me if you have any experience with this or anything. DS was diagnosed with reflux about a month ago. However since then he has been eating well and acting great. He has only gained 6 oz. in the past month. He is 3 months old and I dont know what else to do. He is ff and eats anywhere from 28-32 oz a day and he will not eat more than that, I have tried. I am mostly worried b/c the month before he had gained 3 lbs. in a month and now only 6 oz. Has anyone else had problems with this??

Re: worried hardly any weight gain in a month

  • Have you asked your pedi about this?  We go in for weigh-ins every few weeks for our ds because he hasn't gained well since the beginning.  Then they usually tell us if they are real concerned or what our next steps should be to get him to eat more.

  • What'd your doc say?  Over the 8 weeks, the weight gain is actually pretty normal.
  • DS doesn't have reflux but he only gained 7 oz in his 2nd month, and now has gained 2 lbs in the last month.  I kind of figure growth happens in spits and starts?

  • pedi said to bringhim back in 2 weeks for another weight check and then ifhe hasnt gained much we will go from there but it worries me b/c I don't see how I can feed him more b/c he refuses and he doesn't even spit up that much.
  • I feel your pain...we go through the same thing although our ds doesn't have reflux- he just doesn't eat well at all.  We just try not to worry about it too much and just go with what our pedi says when we bring him in for weigh-ins.  Good luck and just see what they say or if you are really concerned give a call in between your weigh-in to see what they suggest.
  • Im struggling with the same thing. My Lo has only gained 4 ounces since nov.! I go to a LC every week and weigh her. I have been exclusivley BF but have tried everything to increase my supply and it is just not happening and i dont think im making enough for her now that shes more active and eating more. So the last week i have been giving her a couple bottles of formula a day and mostly BF. I guess Im not going to worry about it too much since shes not really acting like shes starving. She is definatly sleeping more at night if iBF then give her formula. Wish i had some better advice for you, hang in there! I feel ur pain
