Balance - or, I fell on my face today...

Sigh.  I've never felt so clumsy.  I'm now on my way to the ER per the Drs orders.  I did fall on my tummy  :(  I feel fine and it's more precautionary than anything but goodness, I feel stupid.  I don't even know the last time I've crashed & burned.  Thought I'd have my balance a little longer but guess not.  I've tripped & caught myself a few times now.  Anyone else having this problem?

Re: Balance - or, I fell on my face today...

  • At times during my first pregnancy I had those issues.. I fell everywhere.. ran into everything and was constantly bruised.. it disappears pretty close to after giving birth
This time not too much yet!

  • I'm naturally clumsy anyway but I slipped and fell on the one patch of ice in all of Texas my last pregnancy and broke my elbow, at 38 weeks, I was falling straight down onto my stomach and turned to protect the belly and broke my elbow instead.   Exactly a year  later I slipped in a store (on water, stores fault) and broke my ankle.   Friends and family are already joking I'm not allowed to leave the house if it rains or snows.

  • I slipped on ice when I was pregnant with my first as well. Thankfully just landed on my butt but I've already had to try really hard to be more careful, especially with my tall DS wanting to be carried sometimes.

  • I just tripped over my dress this morning (foot got caught) and ended up on my hands and knees, actually hurting my knee a bit! Man I felt like an idiot and was glad no one was around to see it.

How did everything go at the er @Goodmorning12?

  • I have to actively think about walking up and down the stairs because for some reason when I am pregnant , and only when I'm pregnant, I have issues with missing/skipping steps. Apparently my feet just forget how to work lol
  • I'm naturally clumsy anyway. My DH says that he's going to wrap me up in bubble wrap come winter.

I have been having this SAME problem! I have to use the hand rail every single time I take the stairs which I have never done in my life before! It really freaks me out!

  • @SienaC it went away after I gave birth if it makes you feel better lol.... it is so strange though

  • I hope it goes away after birth!  I'd like to do some baby carrying and all I can think about now is how likely I am to fall in that situation  :# I've never been a clutz so this is very new.  I also just started some serious leg pain, again, hoping it's just a phase...

It does unless you are naturally clutzy like me :) You get more clumsy because your size is changing so rapidly and because your ligaments are relaxing. Sometimes you develop carpal tunnel giving you butter fingers.
