Nebraska Babies

Obgyn Omaha/Council Bluffs

My husband and I have just started to try to concieve. We recently moved to the area and will need to find an Obgyn, for when we do concieve. Any recommendations?

I'm considering natural birth, but if needed I will consider other options if they are needed for safety.

Re: Obgyn Omaha/Council Bluffs

  • My SIL and I both love Dr. Rebecca Jacobi at Methodist Women's Hospital in Omaha.

She wouldn't be a good fit with someone who has an extensive crazy birth plan; she has a certain way that she likes to do things. It depends on how "flexible" of an experience that you want to have. She is great at what she does though!

  • Great thank you! I'd like to have a natural birth, but would be flexible if there was a complications.
  • Yes, my plan was to go completely med-free, but I ended up having GBS (group B strep) and also had to be induced. I had to be on penicillin and pitocin during labor, so I was hooked up the entire time. I did manage fine without pain meds though and no one ever tried to "push" them on me.

We did have a bit of an emergency situation toward the end when my son's heart rate dropped and Jacobi had to get him out quickly. She did so without resorting to a C-section (though she would have done the C if it had been necessary!).

Methodist is very friendly toward "natural" birth and even has rooms with tubs (though they won't actually let you give birth in one, just labor).
  • Dr Andrea Leishman-Barb at Omaha OBGYN
  • @jessicaoneel I also see Dr. Leishman-Barb and I just love her!! Highly recommend!
  • Why do you guys like her?
