GTKY : October Highs and Lows

Another month passing! Thought we could all reflect back and share the highlights and low points of our months! What were yours?

Re: GTKY : October Highs and Lows

  • Highs:
A very overdue rent check finally came in so huge sigh of relief!
Found out we are having a girl
Dropped off the truck today to get it fixed at last

    Lows:
DH hasn't gotten orders yet so we still don't know where we are moving to
Constantly staring at things in the house that need to get done but I am way too tired to do

  • Highs:
Finding out T2 is a boy!
    The month flew by
Starting a pile of stuff for the baby in DS's closet
Starting the holiday season! I love buying Christmas presents.

    Lows:
Getting all of our tags/car insurance bills that are due next month. Plus it just being that time of year to spend money
    Alex
    married to M since 6.13.09
    T - 3.3.14
    A - 2.24.17
  • High: Agree w/ @datalover13 that the month flew by! But enjoyed and got in most all of the stereotypical "fall" activities and events... fairs, apples, pumpkins, leaves, etc.

Low: Hips relaxing so soon so I wasn't able to run or even walk my race I trained for with a friend.
  • Highs:  I feel great!  2nd trimester rocks - so far.  Finally see my bump :)  Starting to figure out the nursery paint scheme....the nesting is insane!  I've been cleaning so much!!
Lows:  because of the bump...unnecessary talking rubbing from the in-laws.  Maternity clothes shopping (because it's so expensive! Even with coupons)

    DH: 37
    DD: 03/17/17

  • @AandDM2014 how did your family react to the triplet news!?

    Highs:
    - Found out its a girl and have my DH and I agree on a name!
    - Fun reveal with parents and in-laws
    - Got new carpets upstairs (finally!)
    - DH getting a very good raise at work - less worried for mat leave
    - Feeling baby move and more energy during the day
    - Starting my course next week to be able to teach Grade 7 - 10

    Lows:
    - Not sleeping entirely through the night - lots worry about work
    - Feeling stuck in current position - no use to change now if going on Mat leave for a year.
    - Feeling like work is always the last place I want to be.. and that making a risky career change was the stupidest thing I've ever done.
    - waiting 4 more months to meet my little lady!
  • @MsTurney Congrats to you on earning credentials to teach 7th-10 grade! :)
  • @jenny0228 I hope everything goes ok with HR and that they take the necessary steps with your boss. This is the same one that's been treating you like a crazy person, right?
  • @MrsFlemingo my fingers are crossed for you also! So much stress to hold onto for that long.. I really hope it works out
  • @kiyamurph thank you- yes this is the same boss who writes me off as hormonal every time I try to talk to him. So maddening! Going to HR is helping.
  • Highs
    - buying and moving into our new home. It's is beautiful, and more than I could have ever hoped for.
    - my new job being great, and finding out the girls mat leave I am doing is moving away so I should roll into a permanent position.
    - spending time with my family now that we live in my home town. It's been fantastic to be able to be able to be around them, and have them around to help us when we need. Support has been something my life has been lacking for the past five years, as DH works away 3/4 of the month.

    Lows
-DS is having a very difficult time adjusting to kindergarten, and they have flagged him as on the autism spectrum disorder, which means we are going to be having a lot of out of town trips while we try and get him a diagnosis (if he needs one). It's been incredibly hard for me to grasp, as the letters I'm getting about him do not sound at all like the child I have at home.

  • Highs: got an A or A+ on every assignment/presentation I did in Oct for my classes; had 2 great US appts showing a healthy baby & decent size cervix (huge relief!); successfully ran my store while my boss was out on her maternity leave while also working a second job; found out tonight I DON'T have jury duty tomorrow & will have my first day off work since the first week of Sept.
Lows: got my hair cut/highlighted & ever since I've been regretting it; had no time to relax, volunteer, or do all the fun fall things I wanted to.

    HIGHS
Got to spend a long weekend in Massachusetts visiting my family
Doc told us all looked great at the anatomy scan (we go in tomorrow for an appointment to review everything in detail)
    We found our DOULA!
My stepson is now stationed 100mi from us instead of 3000mi, so we get to see him every weekend!
Feeling Baby moving around regularly now!!!!!

    LOWS
Tech at our anatomy scan was terrible. It was a very disappointing appointment.
Still haven't heard from my husband's teenage daughter, despite multiple attempts to speak and see her.

    October highs:
    * Started to feel my son kick!!
    * Celebrated 5 years of marriage with a cute babymoon weekend at the beach.
    * Had 2 positive observations at work and made some extra cash by proctoring PSAT tests on the weekends there.
    * Received good news about the health of both of my remaining grandparents, who early in the month had been in the hospital, looking like the end was near.

    October lows:
    * My car battery died :(
    * Pregnancy brain has hit full-force (I forgot an important vet appointment for my dog; I've forgotten multiple times to make copies of tests for classes even though the tests were already planned, written, announced, etc.; sometimes I end up standing in the shower wondering which steps I've already done).
    * My 11th grade students finished their big fall-semester essay and now I have to somehow grade 130 argumentative essays, at 4 to 5 pages each. The thought of attempting to give meaningful feedback while I'm buried in all my other daily tasks, and my new pregnant-lady early bedtime, makes me want to dig a hole and hide.
    * This was potentially our last month in a pre-apocalyptic United States, because I can't imagine the election results are really going to make anybody happy...

  • Highs:
    Good anatomy scan
Finding out we're having a boy
Getting some more things ready for the baby
    Feeling pretty good over all
My bump is clearly a baby now and not a big dinner

    Lows:
Thinking about everything that needs to be done before the baby is overwhelming.
Third UTI so far this pregnancy and no relief (will definitely be bringing this up at my appointment tomorrow!)
Maternity clothes are expensive and stores around here have very poor selections

    Baby Boy: coming March 2017

  • Highs:
Feeling kicks! She moves most nights when I lay down and when I am sitting at my desk
Bought the crib/rug/curtains for nursery and have a vision for what the room will be like!
My friend gave me several bags of hand-me-down baby girl clothing that is in excellent condition - super pumped
Gave a presentation at work that I received really positive feedback on!

    Lows
My DH works at his family business, and his brother is taking out his own family issues on DH at work.
Heartburn has begun and ow it's painful/unmanagable at times

    Highs:
    - Good anatomy scan.
    - Lots of baby kicks that I can see/feel on the outside.
    - DH got the job he applied for, same company but it takes him out of retail so he gets weekends/holidays off now and a good portion of it will be work-from-home. It's also a pay increase (could be slight or significant depending upon performance, but either way it's more money).

    Lows:
    - We have to move for the new job eventually, which means selling our house, buying another, and finding a new OB (probably when I'm in third tri).
    - So much insomnia.
