Terrifying blood draw here! 1 hour glucose test at 8 am tomorrow, plus a regular appointment. Hoping my MW is happy with how I am measuring and I'm still not *too* far ahead. I do get to see my favorite MW of the team so that is exciting and helps with my nerves.
The US tech got all of the shots of the heart she needed at my A/S follow up last week and all looked normal. Hooray!
Normal checkup appointment this Friday. I'm 23 weeks and she hasn't mentioned anything about the glucose test yet so I need to remember to ask about it when I'm there
Just to update from my appointment last week the kidney shunt procedure went really well and has successfully kept the kidney drained. I will have weekly ultrasounds from now until they want me to deliver so the first "routine monitoring" appointment will be this Friday. I also met my new high risk OB who I had actually seen to discuss results at the fetal care center at the original hospital we were delivering at (they are part of the same system/network of doctors) so that appointment was really short since she had most of the information from me she needed even though my full records hadn't been sent to the office she sees patients at.
@concreteangell mine ended up not being that bad. It tasted like orange soda and wasn't too thick. Maybe you'll get lucky?
I learned that the hospital only have the orange kind and last time I had it, it turned my stomach upside down. hopefully I won't feel so bad this time. I'm glad it was okay for you!

I have to do the 3 hr glucose Thursday and tomorrow I need to go get the first 3 of my 6 cavities filled at the dentist. I'm sure all the Halloween candy really helps lol
Just got back from the glucose test! The taste didn't bother me, and it didn't bother my stomach, but I felt super jittery for the full hour and beyond. I'm thinking that's not a great sign. We shall see.
I'm still measuring 2 weeks ahead, but my favorite MW today said that since it's consistent she's not worried about it in the slightest. Such a relief! She's the best. I really hope I go into labor on a Monday so I get her for the delivery.
Had my glucose test and regular check-up this morning. Should know about the sugar by Friday (if there are issues).
Met my third doctor in the practice and boy was she intense... So many questions, rapid fire, I was not prepared. Not sure if it was her personality or if I can expect this kind of stuff from now on. Brief sample: Do you know what you're having? If it's a boy, will you be circumcising? Were you or your husband large babies/c-sections? Do you plan on having an epidural or doing Lamaze? Did you pick out a pediatrician yet? Etc. Etc.
@PerraSucia I was wondering if that's just a boy thing or if they do it for girls as well. We now have like 6 different printouts of what they refer to as his 'turtle.' Can I please just have cute profiles and such? We get it, he's a boy, we don't need to stare at it all day!

How did I miss you were on this board. I should have known lol
I have so many appointments this and next week! 1) Diabetes 1 hour test 2) Visit with my family doctor (we just moved back to the neighbourhood where I grew up, so I want to make sure my previous family doc will take my husband, daughter and new baby). 3) Regular OB visit 4) My OB referred me to a psychiatrist at the hospital to discuss postpartum depression. I felt 'borderline' (more like blues than depression) last time, and am taking steps to be better informed this time. Call it a preventative mental health checkup.
@Shawlls That's awesome that you're being so proactive with everything, especially with the PPD! So many women struggle with it and it is so rarely talked about. It really needs to become more normalized, understood, and discussed as different than just 'exhausted with a new baby' and help women so they don't feel so alone! I just read an article today about Adele discussing her struggles with PPD too.

Turtle is awful and I feel like it's common for people to be all about the peen shots on ultrasounds. I have yet to see someone IRL post a picture on Facebook/Instagram to announce a girl with a genitalia shot but I have seen a bunch of "It's a boy" penis ultrasounds. It makes me feel weird.
I got the results of my 2 hr GTT on Tuesday. I failed so I officially have GD. Now I'm just waiting for my GP to refer me to the Endocrinologist. My MW can refer me to the dietician and the education class but not the specialist. Total pain.
I also had my repeat anatomy scan on Tuesday and everything is great. My daughter was born with two holes in her heart, and they needed some extra views of baby boy. Thankfully everything looks normal.
I aIso had a midwife appointment today and everything looks good. I am 25 weeks and measuring 32weeks, but the anatomy scan put baby boy at the 38th percentile for size, so they aren't worried.
Ugh I just had another routine appointment and when I asked my MW about my weight she said I've gained too much so far. I'm pretty disheartened by this since I'm only eating when I'm hungry, just clearly not making the best choices I've tried to avoid focusing on my weight at all and don't weight myself outside of these appointments but I guess I will need to start monitoring myself more often
I got ANOTHER printed picture of my kids penis wtaf. Every single appt since 13 weeks they printed my kids penis.
Stuck in the box!
Sounds like a great photobook opportunity. I told my U/S tech that I was hoping that was the last close up picture of his penis ever taken. I don't know if she got my reference, lol.

I think it's so ridiculous how they do that. When I was pregnant with DS, the tech took a close up of his penis and when she handed me the pictures, she told me "that's just extra proof to reassure the dads" and laughed afterwards.
I just thought what in the fresh hell does that even mean? Are you kidding? ***dramatic eye roll***
We're having a girl this time and wouldn't you know, no "close ups". And daddy couldn't be happier, thx.

Im sorry she said that. If it makes you feel any better I'm in the same boat but my midwife hasn't said anything because I'm too scared to ask about it!
TeacherMom2517 - thank you for the kind words! Exactly, mental illness is nothing to be ashamed of and is very common. For me, it typically starts in pregnancy and my husband and I had such a good conversation about it last night. We are virtual equals (grew up with similar backgrounds, have exactly the same two degrees - met in Grad school, both have career corporate jobs, equal social/sports lives outside of each other)...but then the "equity" stops when it comes to babies. I have to be the one that's pregnant and I have to be the one to take the maternity leave and breastfeed. So as a result, our balance is off and that part makes me feel very lonely/alone. Our daughter is 21 months now and my husband and I have the same life as it relates to her (the parenting does not fall to one more than the other), but with a newborn baby, it's just naturally more on the mom. So hence why I find the 1st year difficult (I say a year because I am in Canada and that is the length of the maternity leave).
I had a routine appointment and they complained I wasn't gaining enough because I've gained around 4-5lbs since bfp and my weight has fluctuated a little more or less every time I go. Idk what she wants me to do about it though. They said baby is growing just fine and is on schedule, but that I should've at least gained 15+lbs by now? They also put me on magnesium to prevent migraines (which has really worked wonders) and then they put me on calcium supplements to decrease uterine activity because I was having a few too many BH contractions for their comfort. They also referred me to a chiro because they think the chronic migraines are due to a nasty fall I had in Sept and they think I may have sent my spine out of alignment because of the way I landed. Fun stuff.
@LivingLaVidaGinger they didn't send you to a nutritionist? That's great the baby is growing well but the baby is probably depleting YOUR stores of vitamins and nutrition.
I had a routine check up this week, no concerns, everything looked good, measuring right and my glucose test scheduled for my next appt.
@LivingLaVidaGinger, my OB is a high risk specialist and MFM. He doesn't worry about weight gain affecting the baby. As he has told me, the baby takes what it needs first. if baby is growing appropriately , even mothers starved during famines can have healthy babies.
However, what this translates too, is that YOU might not be getting what you need. This is what I have struggled with. My blood sugar dips, I can get nauseated easily, and might not have much energy. I am only up 5 pound and mine fluctuateso too. But, I know that I was overweight to start with, and you were not. :-) I would try to get more high calorie snacks in you!

@AfKash nope, they'll probably pursue more efforts if I don't gain appropriately by my next appointment.
@Partyof6? That probably explains why I'm so exhausted! I get a whole lot of those weak noodle feels in my arms and legs too so I'm not sure if that is related at all. But the OB has been hounding me to gain for over a year now. *possible tw* when I was having my miscarriages they wanted me to gain more weight before I got pregnant again with this baby because based on my BMI, I was under. I usually take BMI with a grain of salt though, it doesn't always determine the health of a person. But I now have an excuse to pick up doughnuts on the way home tonight!
@LivingLaVidaGinger I haven't gained anything, I'm actually down some wweigh but I was overweight when we got our BFP. Sounds like you deserve some donughts and some apples with peanut butter or nuts :-)
I forgot to mention that I had my 24 week appointment on Thursday, and everything looks great. I measured right on target and little dude's heart sounded incredible. It's awesome how much stronger it sounds every time I hear it. December 1 is my "pincushion" appointment - GD test, TDAP, and Rhogam all in one delightful afternoon. I also scheduled my next two appointments after that, when I start going every two weeks. I'll actually go in three times in December (on the 15th and 29th). As someone who never goes to the doctor, I feel like I'm already going all the time! Can't believe I go to every two weeks so soon.

I love how you still acknowledge my unhealthy choice, but then insert a few healthy ones too. Thanks @Gretchypoo! You sure know how to look after a homie.
Did I tel you guys that I got the flu shot twice because pregnancy brain? Eff you predicted strain of flu!
What?! Did you have it done at the same place?
Man I have Kaiser and so I randomly got it at the hospital after my a/s then couldn't remember if i did it and guess the shot clinics don't update their records as quickly so got it again at the doctor at a regular appt
