I have to admit, I started this for slightly selfish reasons. Can any STM or anyone really, tell me that it's totally normal to feel "not pregnant" at almost 17 weeks. My next appointment is Monday but I am struggling with staying calm about it.
@Taylor72 With my first, I didn't feel pregnant until about 20ish weeks. I actually didn't really like being pregnant the first half of pregnancy. I had NO symptoms, other than my stomach growing (but really, I just looked fat). I didn't really FEEL pregnant or enjoy pregnancy until we found out I was having a boy, put a name to the baby inside me, and could start to feel his kicks.
I'm getting to that point too and it makes me a little nervous. Though the exhaustion is still here and the bump is still growing. That helps. I also have a Doppler though I try not to use it much. But from what I know that's perfectly normal for the second trimester and I'm glad to be here.
We, I think, settled on calling baby by a nickname and I'm trying to get used to actually using it! I want my older daughter to be used to it by the time he gets here, so I figured we should start by using it when we pray at bedtime it's definitely helping me get used to the idea of having a third little bit around!
We all seem to be losing our symptoms, just look at the threads. Don t worry! I was crazy worried last week, but did two doppler appointments and all is good - even though symptoms are gone completely. The only thing I feel is the presence of my uterus, as it is starting to become a bump!
Me: 35 year old FTM, a busy city banker living in London, and a constant worrier. My DH: French guy, car fanatic, best husband ever. Our baby boy: Due on 17 April, currently 37 weeks. I can't believe it - I made it to full term!!!! Last measurement: 3150 gs at 37+1! This is going to be a big baby
I am so glad that we have this internet group to keep each other going. It's hard to talk to DH about things when he doesn't quite understand what's going on anyway. Thank you ladies! FX we will all feel movements soon so we can stop worrying!
Also, for any FTMs out there, I was just lurking on the June board and there is an amazing thread called "what I wish I knew as a first time mom" It was awesome! Lots of great information.
If it weren't for the belly I could forget I was PG. It has already grown to the point that I can no longer sleep on my stomach. Yet when I went to the doctor yesterday I had lost a lb and a half.
Most days I forgot that I'm pregnant. I see the belly but I really just feel fat and never registers as "pregnant." Plus I have two other kids that keep me moving.
Our babies are growing so fast! If you've had multiple ultrasounds, compare the pics. I've had 5 ultrasounds already. Look at the difference in just less than 8 weeks! I'm just in such awe...
STM and not "feeling pregnant" either. I probably won't develop a lot of the negative symptoms until later in the 3rdT. It is hard for me to get excited about something that hasn't happened yet. Right now, I'm setting aside time to enjoy little baby kicks like before bed or after I eat. It is my time to acknowledge, "Hey, I know you are in there. I hope to hold you soon".
Besides little pokes (mostly at night) and the growing belly I'm not feeling pregnant either...which I am welcoming with open arms after feeling like I had a permanent hangover for the last 4 months!
@KirstinH88 I love it. I plan to share a comparison after my u/s Wednesday.
In the meantime, what are yalls thoughts on scary or suspenseful tv or movies while pregnant? This pregnancy has so far already been stressful and I'm trying to learn to let a lot of negativity go because I've read it affects baby. But if I just got hooked on "Supernatural" and want to watch it the rest of my pregnancy but it freaks me out too--is that a bad idea?
I would give my left leg to be someone who can forget they are pregnant. I pretty much feel like I am 9 months pregnant. I am in so much pain. I have already had a few days where I could literally not walk by the end of the day, at least not without a crazy amount of pain that made my eyes water. It hurts to stand up. It hurts to lay down. It hurts to walk. I just hurt all the time. I have cried a few times this week because I am so depressed by the fact that I am in so much pain already.

@mrsstuessy that sounds horrible! Is there a reason for the crazy amount of pain? Or is it just how your body handles being pregnant? Hopefully you can find some relief. Do warm baths help? Massages?

I feel similar. I have pain, though not enough to bring me to tears so @mrsstuessy I hope yours eases up a bit and you get some relief soon. But I already feel as uncomfortable as I did with DS when I started 3tri. I walk a little slower and sometimes notice I can't do a full day of activity or work without being exhausted and feeling like I over did it. I pretty much can't carry DS anymore, to be fair he is 35lbs of dead weight but I'm always impressed when I see PG moms babywearing their toddlers into the 3rd tri--I just know I will not be one of them though! Hopefully it eases up soon for everyone feeling things like this too!
@KirstinH88 This was the last few months of my pregnancy with DD. So, I assumed it would come back again. But, it started at 15 weeks this time and that is just depressing. My body just likes to get super lose and relaxed during pregnancy which means intense joint/ligament pain. So, this baby better slip and slide its way out of my pelvis, after all this pain. A heating pad on my inner thigh/groin area helped a bit the other night when it was really bad. But, honestly the only thing that helps for a little while is just laying down. I will be asking my midwife if there is anything else I can do at my appointment tomorrow.

I've started having some of the same issues. I'm getting pains and symptoms at 14 weeks that I had at the end of my pregnancy last time. Not to mention the ligament pain is so much more terrible this time. I cried at my desk on Friday, because all I wanted to do was lay flat to try to get the pain to go away. I'm just not sure how i'm going to make it through this pregnancy if this lasts the entire time.
I'm a STM and still sometimes don't feel pregnant. The placenta is anterior this time, so I will only feel the baby turn every once in a while. It is more uncomfortable than "fun" at this point
@mrsstuessy Sorry to hear about all the pain you're in, I'm unfortunately in the same boat I have Symphysis Pubis Dysfunction (had it with my son too). Between that and being pregnant with twins whIle caring for a one year old, I can barely walk half the time. I'm seeing a chiropractor that specializes in dealing with pregnant women and also found sone website with gentle yoga stretches specifically for my condition and that's helped a bit. Hopefully you find some relief soon!
I'm with many other posters where I just don't feel very pregnant right now. I have more energy back, not as much food aversion, not really showing a lot, etc. I'll take the break in symptoms for a while
So I'm dying with laughter - DH is literally nesting already I swear. Meanwhile, I've been super lazy and like others, almost forgetting I was pregnant due to low symptoms.
But seriously, DH has completely moved the entire guest room downstairs, set up the room entirely and finished building the new built-in bookshelves in the playroom. He just started this weekend on cleaning the room that DS will move into and he went and got a bunch of paint samples for the nursery color change. Now I feel super lazy typing all of that out! So cute of him and seriously, I love him for having the energy I just don't see to have. The 2nd tri energy needs to kick in already - this mama has a long list of stuff to still do!

Thoughts?
Watch it! We've actually been watching a lot of scary movies b/c of Halloween and I didn't have any crazy dreams or anything like that. I even went through a haunted house! I guess it just depends how much you "dwell and think" about what you just saw. I try to stay up and watch an episode of South Park to keep my mind off the scary stuff. BTW Supernatural is a great show! We named our DS Dean after Dean Winchester
@shaunessa thanks! I think you're right. I don't tend to dwell on it later or have nightmares but I guess I was more worried about the jump scares and the suspense I'm in for the whole episode. Haha! But I guess that probably isn't harmful if I don't binge watch.
I'm enjoying it too. I love the name Dean and it's actually a family name so I could totally get away with it.
Maybe it's time to start another thread for FTM questions and registry stuff. I'm asking bc I hadn't seen one but didn't know if someone was already planning on doing so and I missed it?
@Magheeta my placenta was anterior with my first and it was such a let down. I'm getting nervous that it is again(I still couldn't say I've felt definite movement at almost 18 weeks) and I'm super bummed about it.

@Koukonei I got the official SPD diagnosis today as well. This midwife visit I got the brand spanking new midwife who just started 2 weeks ago. She was trying to be helpful, but didn't know much. I told her we could give it a couple of weeks. If it doesn't get any worse than it is now it would be bearable. So, I am calling in 2 weeks if it gets worse and then we can talk about more serious options like physical therapy or pain meds. She was also going to consult with a more experienced midwife and see about other suggestions and things to do. She was very sweet. But very, very new at this whole job.

@Koukonei & @mrsstuessy I'm so sorry that you gals are in such pain at all, but especially with so much time ahead of us. I hope you both get some relief soon.
@M&Max Your hubs sounds amazing! Last night I was telling mine about pregnancy & child care classes I want us to take at the hospital. He showed me his "to do" list which included a note about wanting to take an infant CPR class. Maybe it's just my hormonal self, but that warmed my heart.
@doozenberg and @HGRich thanks! Glad it wasn't just me. I deleted and reinstalled. It's better now. I was having troubles posting recently so hopefully it's fixed for me.
I'm glad I'm not the only who's getting the "not pregnant" feeling. Tomorrow I'm 18 weeks and I swear my gut has shrunk. Luckily I have an OB appt tomorrow morning (basic weight, doppler, Q's appt) so that should give me piece of mind.
@mrsstuessy I'm sorry about the pain you're feeling!!
I had one day where I had awful round ligament pain on the left side that lasted a solid 7 hours. Just throbbing. That was last week and it hasn't been back since - I've been trying different stretches to keep it at bay.

@super_sam03 I'm 18w today and was just thinking that my bump has shrunk if anything in the last week! I think I'm just getting used to the new size of it. Seriously, though, for peace of mind this anatomy scan cannot come soon enough!
@schef070911 I feel the same sometimes that my bump looks smaller some days! Have you started feeling any movements yet at 18w? I hate being in the in-between stage of having no more of my first tri symptoms but still not feeling kicks or anything yet. The dr. appts and scans definitely help though, hopefully yours is soon for some peace of mind!
