Thin lining

I was supposed to have my FET on Thursday, then at my last monitoring appointment yesterday, my transfer was canceled due to thin lining. Anyone who has had this happen before, what did your RE do the following cycle to help improve it?

I was on:
bcp for 3 weeks
lupron at 20 units then dressed to 10 units
delestrogen injections
never started pio due to the canceled cycle
weekly acupuncture

Any advice?

Re: Thin lining

  • I'm so sorry to hear that your FET was cancelled. I've had thin lining problems and my RE doesn't have me on BCPs, but I also don't get a natural cycle at all. She also switched me from delestrogen to estrace Vaginally and estrogen patches and that seemed to work better.
  • Loading the player...
  • Huh... I haven't personally had that problem @jodes727 . I'm surprised that they didn't try and alter your meds to get it to thicken and re-evaluate a few days later or something. I don't know how that works I guess, maybe it was just too late at that point, I'm sorry regardless... Hopefully they have a plan for the next time around. <3

  • @mtpbadger  I am planning on talking to my doctor tomorrow and will bring up the idea of trying a different estrogen since the injections to not work well for me. And what an aamazing Waimea game last night!

@oxinfree  I had a monitoring appointment on Thursday morning where she realized it was thin, which would have been one week out from my transfer. She decreased my Lupron but that was the only change she made. I then came back in on Saturday morning and that is when she canceled it. I was hoping to try adding in some more estrogen or something, but that was not the option given to me. Feeling frustrated and looking for answers tomorrow.
  • @jodes727 my body didn't respond well to the injections either so you're not alone there. While it was still on the thinner side last cycle, my RE liked the look of it and said it had perfect striping which she said is more important than thickness. I just tend to have lining on the thinner side so I've come to accept it as long as it's responding and looks good.
  • @mtpbadger  I just reread my last post and clearly AutoCorrect took over.  It was supposed to say, what an amazing game last night! Go Badgers!

Do you remember how thick your lining was?
  • **TW - pregnancy mentioned**
I also had altogether 4 FET cycles cancelled due to thin lining. My Lining just wouldn't go beyond 5 and if we upped the estrogen meds, it would finally collapse from the 3-layers to just a mess.
For my successful cycle I took 4 estrogen pills (2 morning, 2 evening), 1 estrogen pill vaginally, 1 estrogen patch and finally 1 viagra (sildenafil) per day vaginally. I got to 6.8 with my lining and it was the triple layer they wanted. My RE gave the transfer a shot and I'm now 14 weeks pregnant.
Don't give up. Good luck @jodes727

  • @flanners1 thank you so much for letting me know your protocol. Congratulations on your pregnancy!  I am hopeful that our next try is more successful.
  • TW: pregnancy mentioned
I had multiple cycles canceled due to thin lining. Seriously, like a year and a half worth of canceled cycles. We could never get my lining above a 5-6. My RE did tons of research and what finally worked was a lupron prep cycle abd a drug called trentnal, which was supposed to increase blood flow. We also did 1000 units a day of vitamin E and estrogen patches increased slowly. I think I did 2 every other day for 3 times then 3 every other day for two times then 4 every other day until the transfer and after. The cycle we did the transfer I got to a 5.5, but it had the triple stipe look the RE liked to see. We decided to go for it and I'm now 18 weeks so there is hope for us with thin lining!!! Good luck! Keep us updated!
  • Thanks for sharing your protocol with me @sberries!  I really do appreciate it.  Congratulations on your pregnancy and hope you enjoy these last 20+ weeks until your LO arrives :)
  • Acupuncture was a miracle worker for my lining!  I highly recommend it
