Hello everyone! After lurking for awhile now I thought I would come out and introduce myself. I'm 31, DH is 35, and we've been married for since 2011. We went through the whole "lets stop taking BC and if it happens, it happens" back in 2013. A year went by, nothing happened, but for some (stupid) reason I wasn't too worried. But shortly after, I was diagnosed with PCOS and my doctor referred me to a specialist.
We saw her for about a year. We tried Clomid, Letrozole, and ended up adding in the trigger shot. I didn't mind this doctor, but there was always something a bit "off" with our visits, like she would completely forget entire conversations that we had, and didn't seem to factor in the PCOS issue. We switched to a new specialist back in August of this year, and I absolutely love her. She did additional testing, she started me on Metformin, and within a few more weeks I was in for my first IUI.
This brings me to today, and why I wanted to officially join you all. I got my BFN on Friday, and I was (am) devastated. It hit me like a ton of bricks how isolating this whole experience is. I love my friends and family, but I don't think they know how to support me in all this. No one in our family/friend group has dealt with infertility, they are all as fertile as can be! So as much as I hate being here and hate that you all have to be here as well, I am hoping to find help, support and guidance here with you all. Thanks for letting me share!

Hi @emelizabeth85 I'm so sorry you got a BFN this last cycle. It does really hit hard when you work so hard towards something and come up empty. This community of women are incredibly supportive and a wealth of knowledge. Welcome and I wish you success soon!! xox

Hi @emelizabeth85! I'm sorry about your most recent BFN. I'm glad to hear you're being proactive about your gut feelings, though, and switching doctors.
Can I ask what kind of specialist you're seeing? Are you seeing an ob/gyn who specializes in infertility or are you seeing an RE (Reproductive Endocrinologist)?
I think that you will definitely find the support you are looking for here! It's hard for family and friends to support us, I've found that too. I think they just don't know what to say.

TTC #1 since Nov. 2015 Dx: Both tubes blocked, PCOS, DOR, RPL IVF Cycle #1 Dec. 2016 - 11R·11M·5F - Transferred 2 - BFP - Miscarriage - 0 Embryos Left
IVF Cycle #2 March 2017 - 5R·4M·3F - Transferred 1 - BFP - Miscarriage - 0 Embryos Left
@PennStateCait the first person I started seeing was a Nurse Practitioner who was certified in Reproductive Endocrinology. The doctor I see now is an MD Reproductive Endocrinologist. Definitely wish I would have gone to the MD first!

@emelizabeth85 Gotcha! Well I'm glad you're going now I saw a "fertility specialist" who was an ob/gyn with that title but not an RE for a month before I had my RE appointment. It's the natural progression of things but an RE is definitely the most helpful. Mine is, at least! It's really reassuring to be in good hands.

The BFN from our first IUI felt devastating for me as well, even after years of other attempts and BFNs. I was heartbroken. I'm also from a very fertile family and have lots of neices and nephews so I understand feeling isolated.
I hope you find the support you need.

I am so sorry to hear about your BFN after your IUI. I completely know how you feel, I had to jump straight to IVF when I found out both tubes were blocked and my first BFN was truly devastating. It took a lot of rebuilding internally and externally to learn how to carry on and try and fight to the end. Keep holding you head up. IF is hard but when we have groups like these it is manageable. I know what you mean about not including friends and family but with these ladies I have never felt alone. Big hug girlie, I hope you get your happy ending soon.

Re: Introduction
A BFN is never fun, but I feel like the one from your first IUI is the worst. I hope your stay is short and your next IUI is a success.

If anyone understands the utter disappointed of a BFN after a medicated cycle it's us.
I'm glad you switched and found a better specialist who you feel more comfortable with.

Looking forward to getting to know you!
