TTC After a Loss

Has anyone ever done reiki or TCM?

I'm like the least new-agey person ever but I can't get into an RE for a few months and I hate feeling like I'm not doing anything to move this TTCAL journey along.  I've heard mixed things about acupuncture and reiki.  I can kind of see how acupuncture might be helpful, but the whole "energy healing" thing seems like it must be a scam or at least placebo effect.  Has anyone tried anything like this?  Any tips for a good experience or what to look for in a practitioner?

Thanks ladies, hope your October has been a gentle one so far.

I've done both.  I am super crunchy though and I think your mindset  affects the outcome.  Acupuncture was an awesome experience and helped with my allergies.  I had reiki done to me to help with anxiety.  Have you ever heard of cupping?

I've done acupuncture and really liked it and its on my list of things to research moving into the next few months of TTC. I am going to ask a few friends for recs for someone who specializes in acupuncture while TTC... It is a very relaxing experience if nothing else.

@justsuzie Cupping scares me - it looks like it hurts! But I'm game to try anything. I might try making an appointment at a more general "naturopathic wellness" place and see what they recommend.  I live near Boulder and there are SO MANY places like that, I might as well take advantage I guess.

@ladipale I have a phobia about needles but I've heard only good things about acupuncture from actual people (as opposed to Dr. Google).  Thank you for sharing your experience, I think I'm going to try it!

@migdala Cupping scares me too, especially the marks it leaves afterwards! Someone I know just had it done last week and their back looked horrendous afterwards!  Good luck on your naturopath journey!  It's helped me out tremendously with other issues.

@migdala I haven't heard of cupping for the sake of it, I had it done to work on a muscle spasm I continuously get from a car wreck in 1998. DH was flabbergasted at how my back looked but it doesn't hurt after or anything. Mine was only done for a few minutes at a time and just feels like a big pulling sensation--and kinda awesome, the good pain that I think would compare to a deep tissue massage. I second @ladipale with the accupuncture-for at least a relaxing experience (I fell asleep the last time, was like a rock for 30 min). And since there isn't harm in doing it TTC, why not?  ;) Best of luck to you.

I do acupuncture and it's fantastic! I do it weekly and my acupuncturist has been a great support during my process. She specializes in fertility and women's health. I plan on continuing for a while. I generally fall asleep during my sessions. Like PP said if anything it's relaxing.

@migdala My grandma, who passed away a few years ago, was certified in Reiki. She used to treat me (stomach issues - before I learned I was gluten intolerant) and it did help. she also used to treat my parents dog who had a lot of back pain. The dog would lay there for 30 minutes and receive treatment and when it was done she could walk easier.

@NewMommyCoop Wow, reiki on animals.  So cool! I had a roommate that was taking classes for it and she did it on me all the time.  It helped with my anxiety.

@NewMommyCoop That's amazing! I think I'm going to try acupuncture early next week but I might try reiki too ... I'm intrigued!!!

@migdala You'll have to let me know what you think. It is different. It creates a very warm feeling on the area being treated. My poor grandmas hands would go numb from it.

I do acupuncture specifically for fertility. My acupuncturist specializes in it and she helped regulate my cycles for the first time in years. I absolutely believe it works and if nothing else, it is relaxing and gives me my own time once a week. If you feel anxiety or stress about the IF process, let them know that too because they can place needles to help you cope emotionally.

After my loss, my acupuncturist did a lot for cleansing and healing the womb and for grief. It made me feel better!

I wonder if their is accupuncture to make my freakin' HCG level get to 0 already.  It's been 5 weeks and I am only in the 2000s!
