I found out I was pregnant the morning we left for Paris, and since I can't have any wine I've eaten a chocolate eclair every day.  That's fair, right?

I need a similar plan of action for my beer-less trip to Brussels in December.
  • @CurlyMommy416 - I randomly saw it on the guide yesterday and recorded it.  I was tempted to watch it while the Seahawks were playing at a terrible snails pace, but I wanted to actually watch it and not be distracted.  It made me fall even more in love.

@swanbrooner @Ahutch428 @xath - It's so nice to know I'm not alone.  Only listened to one song today while at lunch, but it made me happy.

On a different note, I'm trying to eat all the spicy and delicious things before nausea kicks in and nothing sounds appetizing.  Tonight it'll be Pho with a ton of rooster sauce.

  • I'm working on something with the local Hamilton production. Very exciting and can't say much else!
  • There was a first exodus and crackdown on the bump in like January/February 15, I had recently moved to fb for my June 15 group. Think there was a bigger one later.

And on in the nest there was a huuuuuge exodus years back. 2012? 13? Politics board, the money one, the big groups totally left for proboards. The tone has vastly changed, it's too bad it was more diverse and fun

  • I already told my boss because I have 2 appointments only a week apart and I don't want him to think I am job hunting.
  • I made the exodus to ProBoards but I like the format here better. It's definitely dead, though. Super sad because the 1st tri board used to provide hours of entertainment on the daily.

Soeakinf of death, I'm somewhere in the 7 stages of grief after The Walking Dead last night.

  • I feel like the boards, as a whole, are freaking dead. I don't know what happened during my two year hiatus but it sucks.

I'll be waiting until sometime in the 2nd tri. This pregnancy is going to require me to relinquish my position so I want to make sure it's actually happening, first, while still giving her plenty of time to find a replacement.
I think it's a combination of still early and people not knowing what to post where with all the rules so instead they post nothing.  It will likely liven up in a few weeks.

Im also a fan of a good GBCB.  We had quite a few of them in A15 where we were the mean girls for telling people to call their doctors and not show us pictures of their mucous plugs.

I will tell my boss next Thursday when I see her.  I would tell her this week but H is out of town and he doesn't even know yet.  She's a friend as well as my boss and I wouldn't be able to hide it if I tried.

@thankfully  Frites and Waffles...all of the frites and waffles.  And for some reason, the mayo in Brussels is the best anywhere.  So definitely try it with your frites if you haven't before.

  • @Xath When I first saw that picture, I thought, "why is she showing us a picture of burnt hot dogs?!"  Haha!  Then, I realized, it's chocolate!

  • @neludelu Me too! If it's not burnt, black, and crispy, I'm not interested.
  • Lol y'all are funny. Everyone in my husband's side of our family likes their hot dogs completely burnt. I on the other hand like there to be black lines from the grill but mostly the color their supposed to be.

  • There is some craziness today!! On the appointment chat AND the Introduction thread. The April '14 Bumpie in me is like...

  • Also, I dislike fish. Sadly. I hate the smell of it even more. Today they had boiled fish at DS's daycare. I'm 5 seconds from throwing him in the bath. Boiled fish!! Oh my gawd.

  • Wasn't really sure where to post this... but curious if you guys (especially those of you who have done this before!) have any recommendations on good books to read about carrying a baby, child birth, raising a human, etc.? I literally have no idea what I'm doing.
  • I love reading comedic type accounts of pregnancy and Jenny McCarthy's books are hilarious.

  • @tjvan If you are interested in low intervention/med-free childbirth, definitely read Ina May's Guide to Childbirth. I would also recommend getting a book on breastfeeding because the most natural thing in the world is the most difficult thing I have ever done. No recommendation for one, just pick one that helps you troubleshoot all of the problems that can come along with it. One other one I liked was Your Pregnancy Week-By-Week. There is a chapter dedicated to each week of pregnancy and it was fascinating. I loved sitting down with it each week for my first baby.

  • @tjvan I read "Sippy Cups are not for Chardonnay" by Stefanie Wilder-Taylor.  It was pretty good.  There were a few things I didn't agree with, though, like her co-sleeping section.  It was a pretty light read.  I'm reading "Do Chocolate Lovers have Sweeter Babies?" by Jena Pincott.  It's been really good, so far.  Very scientific though, so it does get a little dull in some places.  She answers a lot of unusual questions that I think people think about, but don't know where to look (i.e. Why do skinny chicks have more girls?)  You can get both of these books used on Amazon for pennies.

I plan to read "Mayo Clinic Guide to a Healthy Pregnancy" and "The Baby Bump" by Carly Roney.  I've thought about reading "Bringing up Bebe" by Pamela Druckerman.

This will be my first child, too, so I'm looking for other suggestions, also!  I'm probably opening a can of worms here, but even though I've heard the Jenny McCarthy books are good, I can't get on board with someone that thinks vaccinating your children causes autism.

For practical advice, I liked What to Expect. They also have a First Year book that I liked.
