How to Announce

Has anyone thought already about how they will announce their pregnancy? I am due June 3rd, 2017 and am thinking we will probably announce between Thanksgiving and Christmas. Does anyone have any good ideas for cute pictures? Maybe something about eating for two or a third stocking on the mantle? Just curious what you ladies are thinking about!

I'm not sure! I'm hoping to know the sex before publicly announcing. Maybe just a pic or video of us telling the kids, or of its another boy that meme with the dos Equis guy 'I don't always have a baby but when I do it's a boy.' Probably a comment about the anchor of our relay team.

If if its a girl I'll probably just scream 'OMG it's a girl' lol.

I think we're going to announce to family at Thanksgiving. We'll put DD in a "thankful to be a big sister" shirt and see who notices first.

Facebook announcement, I'm not sure. We didn't announce until 5 months with her.

With my first I made a card for Valentine's Day and put an u/s pic in the middle of a heart and said something like first comes love, then marriage, then a baby carriage in _____. With DS I had DD wear a big sister shirt. I attached how we announced w our third. This time we prb won't "announce" bc in feeling super protective over this pregnancy!

I think I'm going to announce through a Santa picture at the mall with my DD! I suppose it'll be early December I'll announce.. I'm due June 1

Not sure if I'll have him hold up a sign like this or a picture of the ultrasound yet. I haven't found many examples online to get ideas from! This is really all I've found so far.

ETA: we did the big sister shirt with DD to announce to family.. nobody picked up on it 2+ hours into our visit so my husband pointed it out

WIth DD2 we had DD1 wear a big sister sister shirt and waited for our families to notice.

This is time we just told family.

We've never done a social media announcement.

We are having some cute family in matching pyjamas and bed Christmas card photos done in a couple weeks, so we will add in one with the kids holding a sign saying something like "the more the merrier, making room for #3 in June". Haven't figured it out entirely haha

We are taking family pictures this weekend and I have a couple ideas to try from Pinterest.

We we told our close family in person not really in a cute way since its our third.

I do want to do a cute tie breaker type gender reveal for our kids since we have one girl and one boy already.

I've been scouring Pinterest and have finally settled on my ideas. We're announcing to our more extended family on Thanksgiving. I'm going to wear this shirt and basically see how long it takes people to notice:

And then I'll be doing a Christmas themed social media announcement where my belly will be wrapped in a bow with a tag that says "Do not open until June 2017" like this:

We have a lot of people that know already (too excited!) but it'll still be fun to do these more planned announcements.

There is already a pregnancy announcement thread with a lot of great idea. I plan to hang a fourth stocking and put ultrasound pictures in it for ours.

@assiram42 The safety pins are incredibly adodrable.

We were doing DS's three year old photo shoot, which he refused to smile for, until we put the soon-to-be big brother shirt on him and asked if he wanted a baby brother or sister (he wants a sister.) We are going to use those pictures in our Christmas card.

I haven't decided how to tell family or co-workers yet. I'm afraid at work they're just going to find out by me screaming I'm pregnant when they drive me crazy with all my rollercoaster hormones right now. I've almost burst out with the announcement the past two days!

I always loved the idea of announcing during a group family photo. But I'm not sure that's how I want to do it.

@meilay Both of your ideas are so great! Love them! Is meilay your first name? It's really pretty (if I'm even getting the pronunciation right.)

For our first we called close friends and family (most are out of town) and then posted this on Facebook with a caption that said "after 2 years of freeloading Jaxx has found himself a job". Zero clue what we will do with this one but I want it to include DS.

One person knows so far and it gets harder everyday to keep it that way. We live out of state and are waiting to tell our families until we see them Thanksgiving weekend (10w). This would be #6 on my side, #1 on his side. I would like to involve the cousins in the reveal. My SIL has three dogs (her kids, our kid's cousins) and we are going to give them each a bone. One will say Baby, one will say Berg, the third will say June 2017. SIL and BIL are kinda funny about what toys are allowed in their house. So giving the bones out on the sly and watching them run into the house with them and the inevitable, 'What do you have?' should lead to them finding out.
We're still waiting on my family to firm up their Turkey Day plans. If everyone is in one place I may have shirts made for each cousin that says Papa (my dad) and Sweetie (my mom)'s Crew and have the birth year or team # on the back. Then I would have one for myself, with #6 or 2017. If everyone is everywhere then we might do donuts and when you open the box "Everyone eat one, my Mom can't be the only one with a belly." or something along those lines. I haven't told my BFF's yet either on the slight chance I see them that weekend. The struggle is real.

My first was also a June baby, but she was due later so that I was 13 weeks on Christmas. We gave the grandmothers ultrasound pictures in their gifts and they loved it. I will admit that I hated the whole announcement thing though. I think this time we will just take a video of DD running around in a Big Sister t-shirt and send it to our immediate families after NIPT and/or NT scan/quad-screen results come in. My sister has been struggling with getting pregnant, so I think it would be kinder to announce to her remotely so that she can process it privately. Undecided on a social media announcement right now, but if I do anything it will likely just be a simple picture of DD in a big sister t-shirt and a vague reference to due date and the sex of the baby (I didn't say anything on social media until well past the halfway mark last time around either).

We haven't told a single soul yet, and it is such a hard secret to keep!!! Since it's our first pregnancy, we just want to make sure everything is progressing before shouting it from the roof tops. We're going to tell immediate family on Thanksgiving (I'll be ~10 1/2 wks at that point) and we're hosting a big holiday party in mid-December at which we'll tell our friends (I'll be ~13 wks then). Since we've decided to not do an ultrasound or fetal doppler, it'll be even harder to "know" that everything is developing well, but we'll base it on blood tests/hormone levels, etc.

We always do our own photo shoots for our Christmas cards (my hubs is a stellar photographer on the side) and create our own cards, so we'll put a pic on the back of the card that will serve as our birth announcement as well....still haven't decided what to do yet, but have seen some cute Christmas-ey ideas on Pinterest!

I will only be 13 weeks at Christmas. I will probably tell family then, but I will save telling friends for a few weeks more. Not sure when I am going to tell me boss. I have some international travel coming up in January so I am likely going to have to discuss that with him in November or December.

We've already told our parents. We're telling my siblings on Thanksgiving; they'll notice when I don't have a couple of glasses of wine with dinner anyway. My best friend found out when we went to dinner and I didn't order a cocktail. I'm telling co-workers as things come up (going out to lunch and not being allowed to have raw food or a cocktail, organizing the office Halloween party and not being able to help lift furniture, etc.). I'll probably start telling other friends after my 1st trimester ends early December. I don't think we'll do a social media announcement. DH might want to though.......

We told my parents last week (at about 7 weeks) because I've been dying to talk to my mom about every little thing! It was such a special moment... my mom had the most amazing reaction. Complete surprise and joy! I bought this adorable onesie on Etsy to announce to our other friends and family at 12 weeks.

I'm not due until 6/30 so we will only be 8-9 weeks at Thanksgiving. However, we rent a house with my husband'a family for the weekend, so there's no way I will be able to not get caught not drinking for 4 days. We're going to have to tell then.

We told my family just through a text and told hubby's family when we went down home for a visit. We had dd wear a shirt that said "I solemnly swear I'm going to be a big sister".

We are both big video game fans and hubby saw a pregnancy announcment he liked so we are going to do that. Not sure when we will announce all depends on the ultrasound Wednesday.

We live far away from family and I want to tell them in person so we'll be telling them when we go visit for Thanksgiving I'll be about 9 weeks then. I bought a shirt from 7ate9apparel.com that says eating for two and I'll just wear a zip up jacket or sweatshirt until we're ready to reveal it.
then we'll probably do a Christmas themed Social media photo shoot to let the rest of the world know in December.

We already told our parents and some close friends. We will tell my siblings and grandparents at Thanksgiving. We will probably call some other family around that time too. I am planning on doing a Christmas card announcement with a photo of our stockings with a little baby stocking. That will be for extended family and other friends.

With all the craziness that has ensued since my BFP, we haven't told anyone. Well, I did tell my dad because I needed his help watching the kids one day while I was in the ER (but he is sworn to secrecy), and a coworker who is a friend caught me crying in my office one day, so she knows too (and has been a great support).

If everything keeps progressing well, I plan to tell the rest of my immediate and extended family at Christmas, so I'll be about 15 weeks. We have this tradition of everyone doing a "talent" at the family Christmas party, so I'm trying to figure out a way to incorporate the announcement into a song or story or something.

For social media, I had planned to announce with something like the picture below, but I don't know if I want to announce that early. I didn't announce until about 20 weeks last time (and I didn't announce with my first because social media wasn't as big a thing 11 years ago....). We'll see.
