Re: Bumpie of the Week 10.21 - allicat89
When is your due date? December 2nd, 34 weeks!
What part of the world are you from (be as vague/specific as you want)? East Tennessee
What number baby/pregnancy is this for you? First!
What is your occupation or dream occupation? I'm a TV writer. I mostly do true crimes shows, but I've also worked on some home improvement shows and some celebrity shows. I love my job, but I would also love to write a novel one day!
Does your/will your nursery have a theme or color combination? We are calling our current theme "Minimalist Green." We finally managed to paint our walls a light green, and we have received some green sheets. At first we were going for a farm/woodland theme, but with t-minus 6 weeks until our daughter is here, I'm not sure if that is going to happen. We do have an adorable fox wreath hanging on her door, so that must count for something.
Have you bought anything for baby yet? This is the first grandchild on both sides and the first baby born at our church in three years so we haven't had to buy much, honestly. People have been really kind and generous to us!
If you have bought things, what is your favorite thing that you have gotten so far?- Favorite present is a hand-knit christening gown. I can't wait for our daughter to wear it when she is baptized! My mom also saved some of my old dresses from when I was little so it will be fun to reuse them with our girl!
What is your favorite part of pregnancy so far?- I love feeling her kick and squirm around. I also love how people react to pregnancy. I haven't had anyone say anything rude yet. Most people I meet, even total strangers, seem genuinely excited about the baby and want to tell me stories about their own kids/grandkids. It's been fun to have that connection with people.
Do you have a favorite maternity/baby brand?- Target maternity jeans made me feel very beautiful in that first trimester when nothing seemed to fit right. And now Belk maternity jeans and maternity capris are making me feel beautiful when things REALLY don't fit right.
One thing you will splurge on this pregnancy?- Probably the breast pump. Our insurance only covers $30 towards a pump, boo!
What are your top pregnancy related priorities?- Actually taking it easy these last few weeks. I have the tendency to overdo things. Also, I would like to finish our daughter's nursery sometime before she starts kindergarten.
What is your favorite book?- I love the Harry Potter series (I'm a Hufflepuff and Pukwudgie for all of you Pottermore fans!). C.S. Lewis's Space Trilogy, The Sandman series, The Hellboy series, and Jayber Crow. I also love ghost stories and gothic literature.
What is your favorite tv show?- Masterpiece Classic and Masterpiece Mystery (especially Sherlock!), Nova, Futurama, and Star Trek: Next Gen
What is your favorite movie?- The Princess Bride, Beauty and the Beast, The Lord of the Rings Trilogy, Princess Mononoke (and most of the Studio Ghibli films, honestly!).
What is your favorite band/singer? Goo Goo Dolls, Barenaked Ladies, Great Big Sea
Anything else you would like us to know? We live on a cattle farm so I have enjoyed reading from other ladies who raise goats, horses, vegetables, cows, etc!
Good to meet all of you officially! I have loved getting to know everyone over the last few months, and I love the atmosphere on this board!

I actually got into writing for TV totally by accident. My then fiance, now DH, was a TV producer, and one day one of the executives walked into the office and said, "We need writers. Does anyone know any writers?" I was finishing up my degree in creative writing, so DH put forward my name, even though I didn't have any experience in television. I wrote a sample script for the company, they liked my work, and then they hired me.
Chattanooga is a great little town for sure, and it's changed so much over the past 25 years or so. I'd probably push for moving back there if the job market for DH was better.
