How to say "no gifts please"

I'm trying to work on DS birthday invitation but I want it to say something about no gifts.  What is a way to say that without just saying no gifts?

    We said "Your Presence is Present enough" on DS's invitations however every single person still brought a gift. Go figure.

    we said "in lieu of gifts"... and had people bring a children's book to be donated to a local soup kitchen.  We collected well over 30 books... the soup kitchen liked to have books on hand to let the children read, play with and even take home.

    We just said it.

    At the bottom of the invite, we wrote "No gifts, please" and put a cute icon in the beginning and at the end of the sentence.

    Of course, every single person still brought a gift to the party!?

    I don't think there is a way to have people NOT bring gifts unfortunately.  I'd do what HaloRN did and just pick a local charity and announce that gifts will be given to the local women's shelter or whatever.

    We requested it by word of mouth and unfortunately nobody listened.  I like the idea of requesting a small gift to be donated though, I think we'll have to do that at her next bday!
