Canceled ivf

ok just came home from the dr and they canceled my cycle. Nothing was going on down there. No response to meds. This never happened previously.. Feeling disappointed and feel like giving up. Was positive this time around since I recently had an ectopic pregnancy which led to removal of tube. During surgery dr also removed scar tissue, small fibroids and endometriosis. So according to doctors this was my best chances yet to only have my cycle canceled. I asked dr if I should wait some more time before my last Ivf and since I'm 41 he said no, that I have no time to wait.  .  Has anyone had a similar thing happen? How do I not have any growing follicles?  Feeling like giving up!

    I'm not on to IVF so far but was given hopes despite my severe Endo that IUI would work because I had a M/C this year and my testing prior seemed ok. My first cycle was a roller coaster with no mature follicles despite the Injectables, only cysts, and they cancelled my IUI. They've said that really sometimes it's just not a good month. Endo is just so frustrating and unpredictable.  Try not to feel like giving up - I can only imagine how you feel right now but FX next month is your month.

    How long after surgery did you cycle?

    Started TTC April 2011
    Me: 32, DH: 32
    Diagnosis: Endometriosis

    • 2012 - 3 Rounds clomid - all BFN
    • 2013 - 1 Fresh IVF with 2 day 3 embryos - BFN
    • 2014 - 1 Frozen IVF with 2 day 5 embryos - BFN
    • Took a long break, continuing trying naturally
    • Feb 2016 - Biopsy = Endo, DH sperm improved from 1% to 6% morphology
    • March 2016 - Fresh IVF cycle with acupuncture & intralipids: 20 eggs retrieved (17 mature), 7 ICSI'd fertilized, 9 naturally fertilized. 16 total embryos!
    • April 8th - 2 embryos (1ICSI and 1 Natural) transferred. (7 blastocysts frozen), April 18th - Beta = BFN
    • Sept 23rd - Lupron Depot Injection for Endo control
    • Nov 15th 2016 - Started daily Lupron Injections for upcoming FET
    • Nov 22 - Baseline US/BW - Intralipid Infusion - Start Meds for FET with immune protocol
    • Dec 16th FET transfer of 3 embryos (1 - AA, 2 - BB)

    • Dec 22nd - first ever bfp (very faint lines FRER & cheapie)
    • Dec 27th Beta = 192, Dec 29th Beta = 379

    I'm so sorry for the cancellation. My cycle was cancelled in august due to poor response/ 2 lead follies. It was one of my lowest moments because I didn't even get to try... now I'm on my second cycle and so far I have 6 growing together, so hopefully they will keep growing and we will get to retrieval. Do you know your AMH? Mine is low for my age and I also have mild endo. Having IF is tough, but it's even harder when you try the most advanced treatment and it gets cancelled. Know you aren't alone and we are all here for you. I would definitely give it another try! I would ask your RE how they can change your protocol too. I really think that has made a huge difference in my situation.  Happy to share any details if it would help

    Diagnosis: Mild Endo, DOR (AMH of 1.5), Poor Quality Eggs/embryos, Displaced Window of Implantation (ERA Post Receptive)
    March-May 2016: 1 TI and 2 IUIs- BFN 
    June 2016- Laproscopy- found/removed mild endo and confirmed only 1 normal healthy ovary.
    August 2016- IVF #1 with Antagonist Protocol- Cancelled (2 lead follies), converted to IUI- BFN
    Oct-Nov 2016- IVF #2 with Estrogen Priming Micro Lupron Protocol, 2 eggs retrieved, day 3 transfer of 1- BFN
    January 2017- New RE, IVF#3 with Estrogen Priming Antagonist Protocol, 12 eggs, 8 mature, 6 fertilized, 2 day 5 early blasts transferred (none to freeze :(), BFN
    May 2017- Sept 2017- Starting Donor Egg process! Waiting for donor to be available... and then she is pregnant at baseline :(
    Oct 2017- Donor #2: 25R, 22M,18F, 12 blasts frozen! Fresh transfer cancelled due to thin lining with fluid :(
    Nov 2017- Hysterscopy to remove polyp
    Dec 2017- DE FET #1 on 12/8 on 2 perfect blasts- BFN and devastated
    Jan-Mar 2018- ERA #1- Post receptive by 24 hours, ERA #2 RECEPTIVE with 4 days of Progesterone
    Apr 2018- DE FET cancelled for lining issues :(
    Jun 2018- DE FET #2 of two 1AA blasts- first BFP ever! Beta 10dp5dt- 378, Beta 14dp5dt- 2840, Beta 16dp5dt- 4035, beta 18dp5dt- 10916. Due on 2/20 with one baby after a vanishing twin

    Well surgery was on 9/8 finally started cycle on oct 15th. They didn't want to wait. I asked if it would be beneficial. My hormones are horrible. High fsh and low Amh. Just so strange not to have any activity. Well at least I think it's strange.

    This is my 6th month trying to be a single mom and always responded in previous months. By no means did I have a huge number of follicles but something. I guess I was hoping for best results removing all that junk but doesn't seem to be the case. Best of luck to you!

    JamieH2000 how did they change your protocol? Bad thing is this is a new dr so starting from square 1 but this is my last shot at this.

    The first cycle I was on the standard antagonist protocol with birth control. I think that messed me up. This time I did estrogen priming with ganirelax (Schoyer protocol) before I started my stim cycle (with micro dose lupron). Then with stims, we also added HGH, which is not officially FDA approved for infertility but my RE has said can make the difference between success and failure. This second protocol is the most aggressive one they have for low responders. Hope this helps and I am rooting for you!!

    Yes it does thank you! I also did cetrotide (ganorelex) prior to stims for about 7 days. I actually thought this would be it after reading about it online. It made a lot of sense since all other cycles I had follicles all at random sizes. But considering there has been nothing in the screen this week and last week. Not so much. I will definitely ask my RE about it. Thank you. And always best wishes.

    I hope the new RE can come up with a better plan! Maybe a natural start with no suppression? Best wishes and hope to see better news from you soon!
