A few trips to childrens hospital

I have been Mia on here for the past month or so... simply because little one has been scaring the crap out of us. I am hoping someone can say they have had similar things or know how the hell to keep my nerves from getting the best of me.

Little one has had a few issues since she was about a week old. At 4 days she spit up, stopped breathing and turned blue at 3am. I flipped her over banged on her back and was able to get her breathing again. Doctor had no clue what caused it. She then developed a rash which the doctor told me was baby acne. We saw a new doctor when she was about 4 weeks old and they were able to tell us she had a milk allergy and the rash should get better when we get her off milk based formula. She continued the spitting up and breathing thing multiple times a day so we tried medications, different formulas, just about everything! We finally saw a GI specialist who diagnosed her with severe acid reflux and milk allergy. We went on Zantac, Prevacid and alimentum. The spitting up and breathing has finally worked itself out and we are doing pretty good with that.

Then last week she spit up blood on me... I freaked took her to the doctor who told me that was normal... I called Bullshit and called the GI. She then didn't eat for 18 hours so he ordered x-rays that came back ok. Then she decided to have an allergic reaction on us that caused us to rush her to the ER. Her whole face went puffy she broke out in hives on her face and her eyes were swollen shut. She was also coughing like she was choking. ER said it was definitely an allergic reaction to something, but with her being this little there is no telling what. We didn't do or have anything new around her when it happened.

Sorry for the long post but I am truly losing my mind with all this. I suffer from anxiety and as I am sure you can imagine I am freaking out every time she coughs or sneezes now. The GI told us if anything else happens they are admitting us to the hospital for a few days of observation and testing. I hate that my 3.5 month old has to go through all this. Even though it isn't phasing her much she is still smiling 24/7 and laughing at everything.

The picture was about 10 minutes after we got her in the car to the hospital after the reaction.

I have no words, I'm so sorry that you all are going through so much! I would be a wreck too. You're doing everything I would be doing if it were happening to Damien. Your little one is real trooper, she's handling everything so well. Such a strong girl! You're doing an awesome job and she knows she is so loved. Sending you all good vibes and well wishes!!!

Thank you. Sometimes I feel like I am missing something and that makes me a bad mom. I have to say her doctors are great her GI calls me every couple of days since all this started to check up on her. He said he wants to keep an extra careful watch on her. Which makes me feel good and scared at the same time.

You poor thing! It sounds like you're doing everything you can!

Do do you have one of the monitors that detects baby's breathing at night? We have the Owlet, my friend has an angel monitor and I know there are a couple others out there.

May give you some peace of mind.

Poor little peanut. So sorry you are going through this. It's stressful enough being a new mother without these added worries. You are doing everything right. I hope they figure things out for you soon.

Thank you ladies! This is why I love this group. Everyone is so awesome, I was hoping someone had experience and could tell me this was somewhat normal. But I have to say the kind words are making me feel better too.

So sorry to hear that your little one and you are going through all of this. Praying you'll get answers soon. Have they considered if maybe there is an environmental allergen? Sounds crazy, but several years back I rented and lived in a house that had a bad mold issue unbeknownst to me. It gave me horrible acid reflux, sleep issues, gut pain, heart palpitations, headaches, chest pain, and joint pain. Hang in there mama. Your little one is lucky to have such a loving mommy.

Well we were back at the hospital last night for an overnight stay :( they did find that had a UTI which I didn't know was very common in little girls. They said most of the time if there is an unexplained fever and fussing randomly it is signs of a UTI. We didn't get many more answers on the other things though. But my little trooper was amazing. She hated the IV though everyone someone came in the room she made sure to show it to them. She didn't eat hardly anything yesterday and her rash was back so our doctor told us to head in. They gave us no answer of what caused either

I had UTIs all th time when I was little, can't recall if I had them as a baby as well. I'm so glad they figured out that she has one and are taking care of it. It's a damn shame they couldn't figure out the rest yet. I hope they do soon!!

Such a little sweetheart! Praying that your baby girl gets well soon and that you are able to get some answers about what's going on.

Thank you girls. She is doing better when it comes to the UTI. The culture actually came back negative on all bacteria so we have no idea what caused it. The doctor said that was unusual but didn't have much more to say about it. We actually sold our house so we are moving states and I am a little excited to see if a new set of doctors will know more about what is going on.
