Feeling pulse in the abdomen

Is anyone feeling their pulse in their abdomen area? It happens to me mostly after I eat. I want to see if it's common or not?

I've always had a strong abdominal  pulse.  When lying down I see my stomach move with the beat, in pregnancy I have a hard time feeling baby's little movements at first because all I feel when I put my hand on my abdomen is my own blood pumping.

When i went for my Anatomy Scan the tech had lots of trouble getting pics because baby was literally laying on the artery and being bounced with each beat.

No professional opinion here--but the abdomen is a location that you can usually find a pulse, and I'd assume with pregnancy and things squishing around it would just make it more obvious to anyone that hadn't noticed it before.

@kjd291 The image of your baby being bounced with each beat is adorable! It looks like he/she would do well with this bed I just found today: https://www.businessinsider.com/smart-crib-babies-sleep-snoo-video-2016-10

  • @nicklesb YES! I'd seen that posted on my FB. Oy! For that price it better change diapers too ;)

it was cute--but I also though, great: that means this kid is going to be even harder to get to sleep because she's EXTRA used to the motion and loud noise ; )
  • Yes!! I also get it, very strong too. I actually googled it yesterday cause I wanted to know what the heck it is. Seems pretty common tho

  • I can feel it whenever I lay on my back. I've never felt it before pregnancy but it's always there now.

  • I get this a lot too! I had a little trouble differentiating between the pulse and movement at first. I assume it's due to increased blood flow and the placenta maybe?

  • Yes! Me too. I had the remote control on my belly earlier and could see it bouncing up and down with my pulse.
  • It's your aortic pulse and super common during pregnancy with all the extra blood and dilation. Some people have strong aortic pulses when not pregnant.
  • I actually just felt this yesterday - it was super strong and took me by surprise!
  • I can feel it starting this week when I lay on my back. I don't remember feeling it with DS last time.

  • I have this when not pregnant also
  • I just felt this earlier tonight I think - it was my lower left abdomen though and not close to where they found the heartbeat at any of my visits. I did see my abdomen move up and down though. I thought I was finally feeling kicks.
