No fun. Aside from meds approved by your doc I'd drink tons of warm water with honey and lemon/chamomile tea, and if you can find them I have great luck with organic manuka honey & ginger drops. You can also find shower steamers with scents like eucalyptus and menthol to help open up your sinuses.
@Jilliants You can also try using saline sinus rinses! I find it works best for me after showering because the steam helps open up my sinuses. I use the NeilMed sinus rinse packets and it helped me a lot!
I've had a sinus infection for 3 weeks now! It sucks! One thing my ob mentioned is to drink tons of water bc when youre stuffy you tend to breathe through your mouth and lose more water. I also find putting a warm compress on my forehead sinuses in the am helps get things draining. My doc has approved Tylenol, Pseudaphedrine, and Mucinex. I'm also starting amoxicillin today which I'm a little nervous about but this infection has been going on for weeks.
@RunBooRun thanks for posting that list! I stood in front of all the meds at Walgreens last night, saw the Vicks Vapor Rub and figured I would try the oldie. Was it a goody!!! I rubbed it all over my chest and under my nose and it definitely helped! I also propped my head up a little so I wasn't lying flat, and that was a big help too. Finally got a decent night's sleep in a few days!
I'm a teacher and I got my yearly cord early on back in Sept. It was one of the worst colds I ever had!
I didnt use any Tylenol or anything. I drank chamomile tea with honey and lemon every day, cut out dairy, and gargled warm salt water every morning before work to help my throat. Also, of course, lots of water. it took a little longer to get rid of the cold, but those are daily remedies you can do to help lessen the symptoms.
This is the site site where I got most of my remedies from.
