Breastfeeding App

FTM Here. I was wondering if any of you STM+ have any input on breastfeeding apps

Is there an App you just love and why?
Did you find it useful or can you go without?
What method of tracking worked best for you if any?

I may be overthinking this, but just want to hear from other mommas. Thanks!

Re: Breastfeeding App

  • I tried to use an app in the very beginning with DD but it was really a pain in the ass entering the info into the phone to track it. For me it was much easier to keep a journal on hand that I just jotted down the last time I finished nursing. So much easier. I did that in the beginning a lot and found it helpful because time just starts to run together after a while and it was nice to have a reminder of the last time we nursed for my own peace of mind. You could also indicate which side you nursed on primarily so you knew what side to start on the next time around, because believe me you forget.

  • I used the Total Baby app and really liked it. After a while, I stopped tracking BFing, but a good friend of mine uses it all the time and even tracks how much she has in her freezer stash with it.
i like that it keep track of all my DDs immunizations and doctor's visits.
definitely back it up though - I learned that the hard way

  • *back the app up - there are easy instructions on how, I just didn't and had to refill all the important stuff once

  • I used an app called BabyNursing and LOVED it! You can track everything: nursing, sleeping, diapers, growth, doctor's appointments, vaccines, etc. I really only used it for nursing, but still it's a great app and I'm planning on using it again with this LO.
  • I used BabyNursing too.
  • I used BabyLog. It tracks a lot of things, but I just used it to keep track of when I had started the last feeding, which side and how long baby ate from each side. I also used it to keep track of baby's weight, length, etc. from Drs appts.

  • I use iBabyLog. It's user friendly and tracks a lot of stuff if you so choose too. I use it mainly for feeding. I suck at remembering which side I last used. I also have been using it to track my medications so I can stay ahead of my pain (cesarean).

  • Thank you ladies for your feedback. I did worry as OP mentioned that time just runs together and it's difficult to keep track of what breast baby fed from last. I might download a couple apps mentioned and play with them a bit to figure out which one might work for me. I'm awful at tracking things I start off great and on track then slowly just stop. Eek.

  • You can also just use a light bracelet or hair tie around the wrist of the side you most recently fed from. That's my plan.
  • I'm using Baby Tracker and I like it!

  • I nursed on demand, not a schedule so never used an app. I may look into one this time, I'm sure I'll lose my mind with a 3yo and a newborn.

I NID too, but also had a lazy eater for the first week or so, so it was helpful to see when he last ate.
