I'm digging this weekly check-in! I like keeping up with all you ladies and knowing how things are progressing.
1. How are you feeling? Pretty good; the neausa went away for a bit and now seems like it is returning to an all day thing again, but I'll take it.
2. Anyone have an appointment this week? Not until Nov. 3rd.
3. Rants/Raves/Random Probably a dumb question, but my sister is having her birthday dinner at Benihana tonight and I love me some splash and meadow. Cooked scallops are fine, right? Google seems to be iffy on it, but it seems like as long as they're cooked I'm golden. Just wanted to see what ya'll thought.
1. How are you feeling? Pretty good. My boobs are huge. They are uncomfortable at times, but I can deal with it because they are so pretty! I actually told DH that this is when we should go on vacation. My boobs would look great in a bathing suit and the bloating has died down for the most part. Seems like the best timing! I had like two waves of nausea last week and some lower backache and fatigue yesterday. But today I feel pretty spectacular. I'm only 5 weeks in though. I feel like every day is a little different. We'll see what week 6 brings.
2. Anyone have an appointment this week? Nope, not until 11/7
3. Rants/Raves/Randoms: DH and I haven't told anyone. We live 4+ hours from home and since it's our first and the first grandkid on his side (#6 on my side), we want to do it in person. This means we have to wait until Thanksgiving. It's killing me slowly. I feel guilty telling my friends before my Mom and sister. We'll see how long I last.
PS: So happy to have all you girls here with me! Makes me happy to know that when all these one million one-offs pop up I'm not the only one who is twitching...
@Sirius37 I think you'll be fine! I actually ate sushi during my pregnancy only if from reputable restaurants. Both my IF specialist and OB said it was fine (you know... not gas station sushi) in moderation. I try to stick to the cooked sushi options and I avoid tuna (or other high mercury fish), but I'll spoil myself from time to time.
1. How are you feeling? Kind of like I have the world's worst hangover, but without the enjoyment of a great night out prior.
2. Anyone have an appointment this week? No, but next week is my first ultrasound. Hoping to graduate to my OB the following week where I would have my 8w prenatal visit.
3. Rants/Raves/Randoms I've been lurking on TTGP and IF to see how some of the ladies are doing and to see if anyone got their BFP. Today there was a horrible post on TTGP (now closed) and all I had to restrain myself from chiming in. Then I read down to the comments and saw a "Just move on to your BMB" and thought... "Oh *#@%!... that will probably be us!!! Don't come here!"
1. How are you feeling? I am tired, emotional, and my face is breaking out. By emotional I mean happy crying at dumb things like tv shows and I had an episode of sad crying today when someone posted a tribute to their dying cat on facebook. I haven't even met their cat nor am I a cat person. But honestly at 4w5d no hints of sickness yet
2. Anyone have an appointment this week?
Nope, although I did schedule with a new practice instead of my regular OB. They are a practice with nurse midwives and I have my first appointment, complete with ultrasound, November 16!
3. Rants/Raves/Randoms
I am a full time graduate student, graduating in April. I work part time at a hospital and also have a part time internship. Today, my internship supervisor told me he would love to recommend me for a full time position that he expects to be posted soon. I would love this position, but didn't expect to start looking for post-grad full time careers until after I graduated (really until maternity leave now). If they would be willing to work with me re: leave, it would be the clear decision to make! But I feel strange about withholding the pregnancy from them during the selection process if this job opportunity did become a reality for me, like they may feel I was dishonest and it would reflect poorly on me. I have been stressing about it a bit today! Any advice is greatly welcomed!

I like keeping up with you ladies too – seems like we have a
bit of a friendship going from the TTGP board that it is nice to carry over to here
1. How
are you feeling? Meh. I have been getting a lot of headaches which is a
lot different than my last pregnancy. I’d almost rather have the morning
sickness. Almost. I do get a pretty major gag reflex whenever I smell something
funky though. I don’t have sore boobs yet like last time either.
2. Anyone have an appointment this week? First one November 3rd
3. Rants/Raves/Randoms – not much, getting impatient waiting for
our puppy. We have been on a wait list for a bernese
since June and I am trying to look on the bright side that I am not cleaning up
puppy mess yet but that’s not very convincing. I want my puppy and I want it
now!
@sirius37 – I don’t know about scallops, sorry I am no help.
@berg – we aren’t telling family until Thanksgiving-ish either.
I will have to tell my parents over the phone/skype (across the country) unless
I recruit my brother to surprise them. I was thinking of having him take over
donuts or something one day with a note “eat up, L doesn’t want to be the only
one with a belly this spring”. My DH’s parents are visiting for Thanksgiving
and staying with us so I think we will tell them using DS somehow.
@elyse1384 uh ohhhhhh hope that troll finds her way to July
@elyse1384 That one was a doozy. I was pretty shocked at her attitude and attempt to say she had been lurking. Whoa. Whoa. Whoa. She will be getting the side eye from me if/when she joins in here (and makes her own Intro post in her own thread undoubtedly).
1. How are you feeling? Mostly good! Nausea hasn't kicked in persistently yet so I'm enjoying that for now. Still anxiously awaiting the reassurance that an ultrasound will bring (26 days... Not like i have a countdown on my phone or anything)
2. Anyone have an appointment this week? Nope - nov 15!
3. Rants/Raves/Randoms it's my last night of 4 weeks of night shift in a row!!! Can't wait to function like a normal person instead... Until all the symptoms set in... But I will take it

@Sirius37 is splash and meadow another term for surf and
turf? I think scallops are okay if they
are cooked. I downloaded the Ovia app,
and it has a “Food Safety” look-up section.
I looked up scallops and it says they are safe and that the protein in
them is good for your baby.
@berg I would never last until Thanksgiving! But, I can understand why you would want to tell your family before your friends.
@Elyse1384 Oh no! Now, I have to go to TTGP to check it out…
1. How are you feeling?
Great! I just have a little bit of nausea in the evenings.
2. Anyone have an appointment this week? I
had a beta draw yesterday. I went from
165.8 HCG last week to 7,074 HCG this week!
Ultrasound scheduled for next Thursday!
3. Rants/Raves/Randoms We’re getting new
floors installed tomorrow and found out today that we may have to replace the
sub-floor in addition to the actual floor, increasing the cost by about
$500. Ugh! If it’s not one thing, it’s another.
@Sirius37 google seems to be iffy on so many foods! I underestimated the limitations. But overall it does seem like scallops are fine and delicious, enjoy them
@sevenn my appointment is just a day off from yours. It seems like so long to wait but hopefully it goes by quickly
@berg per your vacation comment, are you planning one?? H and I have a flight credit that expires at the end of May so I'm trying to think of a good destination for a quick 3-4 night baby moon trip

@PolarBear517 I think that if the selection is being made
before you hit the second tri-mester it wouldn’t be dishonest not to mention
the pregnancy. A lot of people keep
pregnancy a secret until they hit 12 weeks.
@lmc929 Congratulations on getting a puppy!! We had to wait a long time to get our’s,
too.
@PolarBear517 we waited until 8 weeks for immediate family last time and 12 weeks for everyone else. I feel like that is just playing it safe so I agree with @mrlight that its not dishonest.
1. How are you feeling? FAT. I almost cried this morning because my pants were too tight without the hair tie button extender trick. I feel like it's too early to be feeling this big. Plus, I just look like a busted can of biscuits, not a cute pregnant lady.
2. Anyone have an appointment this week? A week from today!
3. Rants/Raves/Randoms
DH is a DIY (aka save as much money as possible) guy. I appreciate his thriftiness, but this weekend he is taking out a load bearing wall between our kitchen and living room and adding a support beam. I know he isn't wreckless and has done his research, but still:
@swanbrooner Your DH and my DH would be great friends. When we decided to paint our living room, my DH decided he needed to knock some nail pops in the sheet rock back in to the wall before painting. (We live in an older home so they used nails to hang the sheet rock instead of screws like they do now.) I came home from work and it looked like my house had chicken pox from where he knocked the nails into the wall and then had to patch the wall. Then, he complains about how much work he has to do. Umm, no one asked you to do THAT. (I had also suggested we just hire painters.)
1. How are you feeling? Ugh. I have the worst gas bubble chillin in my gut today, though mercifully I did poop like a normal person this morning. Also my super fun week of pregnancy insomnia where I'm up from 345-430 (and then my alarm goes off at 445) is finally catching up with me and I'm exhausted.
2. Anyone have an appointment this week? Nope, 11/3
3. Rants/Raves/Randoms: too busy at work and also tired to think of anything. I'm the worst today. It took me 20 extra minutes to get home on my commute tonight due to an accident and that was the icing in the cake of a shitty day.
1. How are you feeling? FAT. I almost cried this morning because my pants were too tight without the hair tie button extender trick. I feel like it's too early to be feeling this big. Plus, I just look like a busted can of biscuits, not a cute pregnant lady.
That is quite possibly one of the greatest expressions I have ever heard! I secretly unbutton my pants every time I have to site at work because the bloat is real.
@Elyse1384@PolarBear517@mrlight Thanks for all the help! I ended up doing the scallops (and filet minon, YUM) and it was super tasty. Also, I didn't even realize that Ovia had a safe food section! Thank you @mrlight I will be abusing the shiz-nit out of that feature.
@lmc929 Aww, puppy! Bernies are the cutest! Do you know if you're getting a male or female yet?
I'm off to go lurk TTGP and see who this troll you're all talking about is....
@elyse1384 yeah totally read that thread and then her comebacks about how no one knows her story... yeah no one knows it because you never contributed. And then when they told her to move on over I thought you tell her! Wait... oh man.... Hopefully they scared her off entirely. Or else she'll just 'lurk' here.
@PolarBear517 I agree with @mrlight. You should let them know after. I don't think it's dishonest. Waiting until you are in the second trimester is customary. Also before we got a BFP we were looking at Christmas for vacation. This is the first year without MIL and DH is having a really rough time even thinking about the holidays. My job gives me the Friday and Monday surrounding Christmas and New Years off. So essentially if I take 3 days vacation I get 11 days off. This will be the last time going away for Christmas or right after would even be acceptable for a long while, if ever, and coupling it with MIL not being here... just seems like something we should do. We haven't decided where, he has left it up to me. Zika obviously weighs on my mind. I'll check with the OB before I buy tickets. The need to go someplace that you wouldn't normally go with a toddler is strong though. Greece or the Maldives are in the lead. But for quick trips, I don't know where you live, but I like to keep the flight to about 4hrs max, so you don't lose too much time. We're big Dominican Republic fans as it's cheap, quick (4hrs for us from NJ), warm, and beautiful. But with Zika, that may not be the best option. Staying state side may be better.
@lmc929 Are we twins?? That is one of the ideas (and the one in first so far) on how we might tell my family! Now if only my family could get their shit together and decide on what they are doing for Thanksgiving. If not for my sister in law, my parents would plan Thanksgiving the day before. Me trying to figure out where everyone will be 5 weeks out, without being obvious makes me want to scream. Chances of us having to do 3 separate reveals at 3 separate house for my family: 85%
@Elyse1384 I've still been lurking a bit over there too and I saw that and had the EXACT same thought!! I think she's probably scared away from the site completely.... here's hoping.
@delujm0 when I actually pooped like a normal person this morning I wanted a gold star for that happening two days in a row... what a weird time.
1. How are you feeling? Pretty good! Not too many symptoms yet but we're only 5 weeks 2 days in... I have been starting to feel something sort of in between heart burn and nausea, but it hasn't gotten too bad.
2. Anyone have an appointment this week? Nope, first appointment with my RE November 1st!
3. Rants/Raves/Randoms I was at my spin class this morning and there was this very pregnant woman and it made me hopeful that I will be able to keep it up!
1. How are you feeling? So exhausted. I feel like I'm borderline neglecting my son because I can barely get myself to get up. So much TV, his poor brain.
2. Anyone have an appointment this week? Not until Halloween. Feels so far away!
3. Rants/Raves/Randoms
I'm so anxious. And so many people know and I keep thinking that it's a lot of people to tell if God forbid something is wrong. I just want to get through this trimester. The anxiety sucks.
@swanbrooner The hair tie loop is saving my life right now. But I'm with you, it's too early and I'm 100% feeling like a busted can of biscuits. Thanks for that, it gave me a good laugh.
@lmc929 oh my gosh! A puppy! I hope you get it soon. And please share pics!
@Sirius37 right now I will take whatever they can give me
My husband is leaning boy dog since we just got a girl cat. That and he told me girl dogs are literal b*tches and he read that they can be emotional.... *cue eyeroll*
1. How are you feeling? I think this summarizes pretty well how I'm feeling: I'm still only really getting waves of nausea for "morning sickness." No vomiting yet so that's nice. The waves of nausea do seem to be getting more intense though. There have been a couple of times I reached for a puke bag just in case.
Other than that I'm hungry, thirsty and I'm peeing all the time.
2. Anyone have an appointment this week? I have an ultrasound on Monday the 24th. If everything looks good I'll graduate from my RE to an OB. PGAL is making me really anxious about the ultrasound. I'm excited and also terrified. I keep going back and forth between "I can't wait to have some reassurance that jellybean is still doing well in there!" and "what if jellybean stopped growing? What if they say there isn't a heartbeat anymore?"
3. Rants/Raves/Randoms My mother is coming to visit for a week. I had already made plans with her before I got pregnant and then I felt like I couldn't cancel because she'd already gotten her plane tickets and such. So now I have to figure out how I'm going to clean my house to my husband's standard for guests without help while exhausted all the time. And then I have to figure out how I'm going to entertain my mother for a week. She's just this super high energy person who is always going somewhere or doing something. She only sleeps about 5-6 hours a night and expect me to stay up with her and wake up with her. I'm always just exhausted while she is visiting. I have no idea how I'm going to manage while pregnant. If my mother were a normal person I'd just explain that I'm really sorry I can't be awake with her to entertain her in the morning and/or I'm sorry I can stay up with her at night but I need my rest. But my mother is a narcissist and that would never work. It's going to be a really, really long week.

@lmc929 oh my gosh! A puppy! I hope you get it soon. And please share pics!
My husband is leaning boy dog since we just got a girl cat. That and he told me girl dogs are literal b*tches and he read that they can be emotional.... *cue eyeroll*

DS #1: 3/8/151. How are you feeling? I think this summarizes pretty well how I'm feeling:
I'm still only really getting waves of nausea for "morning sickness." No vomiting yet so that's nice.
