GTKY: What story does your family always tell about you?

They like to tell people about how confirmed their decision to get a new garage... I was attempting to park my car in the very narrow garage and was too close to the side. I ended up scraping the side of my car on the edge of the opening in the garage. That made the garage unstable and unsafe to park any vehicle in there. My parents said they would have waited another year before getting a new garage otherwise. Lucky for me, my parents weren't upset at all. They find it funny now and they found it funny then too.

R/R: I would like to say a great big thank you to the support on yesterday's WTO after H's cold feet, I cannot tell you how much just a few sentences helped me to cope. TTC has been very isolating, and this group has been such a valuable resource of knowledge and support.
As it happens H came home last night and without prompting apologised and said that he had been thinking all day, and that he does want a family/baby more than anything, but he was overthinking all the practicalities (his friends all seem to have got KU'd accidentally and so really struggled afterwards). So no rant today, but rave for you guys and rave for H getting his head screwed back on!

GTKY: What story does your family always tell about you?
My parents love telling the story about how I once said "not quail's eggs and parma ham again" at Saturday lunch, because it apparently shows how posh I am (despite being their daughter!) as opposed to the fact that I don't like cured meat and we had it every Saturday for years! Such a strange (and boring I think) story to tell, but it was even in my dad's wedding speech.

When I was in first grade my sister graduated from preschool. Everyone was taking pictures of her all night and I didn't understand why no one wanted pictures of me too. (It was film back them so no sense in wasting it..) When my mom was putting me to bed she tried to talk to me about it which only made me more upset so I threatened to run away. I had on a pink nighty and grabbed my favorite doll. My dad caved and started taking pictures of me, sobbing in my pink nighty. That made me historical because I didn't look cute anymore and I wanted a cute picture. I didn't really go anywhere. Just sat on the deck for awhile crying.

R/R: Either I'm going to ovulate tremendously early, or I'm experiencing a false surge. OPKs are nearly positive, so DH and I HIO last night just in case. I really hope my body isn't messing with me. If it's real, I'm going to be upset that he couldn't finish the job two nights ago if it is early O. I think he was worried about having performance anxiety again, and he even mentioned it when we were done because there were flashes of it. He said, "I don't think I am nervous about baby making, but maybe subliminally my body is!" PS I tried Preseed and he didn't even notice.

CS/Q: Thanks for your answers yesterday! Just curious... how long does everyone's positive OPK / LH surge usually last?

GTKY: What story does your family always tell about you?'

They don't really tell stories about me, at least ones I know about.. but one story from when I was younger is I used to race my sisters up the stairs and then 'clothesline' them to get up first. Then I'd have to distract them so they wouldn't tell on me. My mom didn't like me and always called me vindictive, so I preferred to avoid any conflict with her because I knew it wouldn't end well. That was the only time I was aggressive or a cheater, I swear.

GTKY: What story does your family always tell about you?
my parents have two stories. The first is when I was 2 I got this doll for Christmas and I couldn't stop asking everyone "isn't she cute??" The second is that when I was little I used to get out of bed and sleep on this one stair that we had coming from the kitchen to our bedrooms. My parents would always have to remind my older brothers that when they got home, they need to check the stair so they wouldn't step on me.

@SaphireSweetie88 I actually worry about that now! It's the first time I've had a garage (as a teen, my parents kept theirs in the garage of course so mine stayed in the driveway) and I'm always worried that I'm going to hit my mirrors!

R/R: it's Friday! We're having a housewarming party tomorrow and I'm freaking out. I've never thrown a party before (I've always lived in apartments so never liked to have anyone over). I had a hard time with "well, if I invite this friend, then I have to invite this one too" and most of my friends have kids so it looks like we could have 52 people at any given time (since half are maybe I have to count them). I have no idea how to plan for food. And we'll have several tvs on showing the football games but I'm worried people will be bored (esp the kids).

GTKY: What story does your family always tell about you? My mom always made my Halloween costumes growing up. I was OBSESSED with the Rainbow Brite one she made me when I was 4. Apparently the following July I had a meltdown because I wanted to wear the costume to the grocery store. I was crying and kept saying "but mommy, I have to spread happiness to all the people". And I won that argument and got to wear it.

@NYTino24 I've only ever gotten 1 positive OPK at a time, never 2 in a row or anything. I have had a false surge, but I got a positive OPK, they turned negative, temps didn't confirm O, and then another positive a couple days later.

GTKY: What story does your family always tell about you?

I was the first female grandchild (after 10 boys) so my birth story gets told a lot - my mom actually had an emergency c-section because she got pre-eclampsia and started having seizures. The famous story is that her best friend showed up at the hospital all excited, but found my dad and grandmother pacing the hallways. But then I was born, they announced I was a girl, and everyone "forgot" about my mom's issues because they were just so excited to see that pink blanket. Don't worry, my mom's fine now.

@purplg8r When I had a housewarming last year, I did a taco bar. It’s fairly inexpensive, easy to make and everyone loves tacos. I even found a homemade taco rice recipe that every seemed to love. If you want it, I can dig it out and post the link. FYI I kept the food warm using a small buffet kit from a local craft store.

@hartmich I forgot about my birth story! My mom was in labor with me for 4 days on and off and when she was in full active labor with me, my father and the doctor were watching the Browns game on TV. They did win, btw

R/R: It’s Friday and we’re going to my in-laws for the weekend for their annual bonfire! I really can’t wait as it’s always so relaxing when we go there. Also, I totally plan on BD tomorrow morning in case today is O day

Also, about the holy water comment – a coworker was telling me a few days ago that when she was TTC her son after about 19 months, she had gone to a funeral at a Catholic church (she isn’t Catholic herself) and one of the old ladies there rubbed holy water in her pelvic region and then she got her bfp. Is it sad if I’m actually considering trying it if this cycle doesn’t work…?

CS/Q: nope, today is historically O day for me so I’m hoping to see the temp rise this weekend.

GTKY: One of the (non-embarrassing) stories told about me is that when I was about 6-7 yrs old, I cut some of the fur on my teddy bear’s stomach because I thought it would grow back. Obviously it didn’t.

The most told story in my family is actually about my mom. When she was younger (think teenager) her siblings all went out to the theater to see The Sound of Music on Thanksgiving and left her to do the dishes herself. She was one of 8 children and she didn’t go because she had already seen the movie.

I was a big time sleep walker when I was little. I was a competitive swimmer when I was young and we were at provincials staying in the university dorms. I walked out of my room and went and snuggled up on some guys lap in the main hall. Luckily he was a swim dad from a neighboring town and my mom was sitting right there to take me back to bed.

GTKY: I was about 5 when we were on a big family picnic. A bee landed on my hand and I did just what you were supposed to do and I held perfectly still. Bee stomped around for a little bit and then, completely unprovoked, planted his stinger in my hand. I was so furious and offended that I had done just what I was supposed to and still got stung. (Kinda like TTC, eh?

R/R:Rave-my H was very excited about the preseed, put him in the mood to HIO, but he couldn't wrap his head around the fact that it was special lube and only to be used during the fertile week of my cycle, anyhow, it was a good BD last night!

CS/Q:My dog often wakes me up for what I like to call "elevator service" (to be lifted into bed, even though he can jump on the bed, he prefers the elevator method). Because of this, I temped quickly before getting out of bed at 2:45am to get him. I typically temp at 6:00am, so I temped twice just to get one with 3+hours of solid sleep, and one at the same time I do everyday. What number should I use? The temps were different.

GTKY: What story does your family always tell about you? I shared this story in TWW on my last day there so some of you may have heard it, but when I was little, on St Patricks Day, my family was having corned beef and cabbage. I asked my dad "Dad, I know chicken comes from chickens, and beef comes from cows, but where does corned beef come from?" and he told me "Dead little leprechauns". So I've never touched corned beef since then! It still makes my dad crack up.

@TinyTurtle I felt pretty isolated TTC as well and so I sought out this group and I am so happy to have people to talk about it with! I am glad you found comfort in this group!

Apparently when I was a toddler, if someone did not come to put me to bed quickly enough I would go to my room and fall asleep next to my crib. To this day I need a solid 8 hours of sleep most nights in order to function.

@SaphireSweetie88 I had a very similar experience with my garage at my old apartment! Both me and DH scraped the sides of our cars on it, but it didn't make it unusable. Mostly it was just embarrassing. I'm actually kind of happy DH did it too so it didn't look like I was just a bad driver haha.

@TinyTurtle So glad your H said that. I hope it can help put your mind at ease.

@purplg8r GL with the housewarming party! I always get stressed hosting people too. As long as there's beer, I find that most people are happy haha.

I work with my family, so I end up hearing family stories a lot haha. One that my mom tells all the time is when I was younger, I sneezed on her right after putting a Hershey Kiss in my mouth. Thankfully she can laugh about it now, but it was probably pretty gross at the time.

@SaphireSweetie88 My sister has a similar story only she was on a moped and, instead of hitting the breaks, she accelerated into my aunt's garage and then tipped over. I wasn't there but they said the whole garage swayed she hit it so hard. My sister is hands down the worst driver of all time. She also hit a short yellow school bus in our own neighborhood full of kids. They all had to get off the bus and the cops came. It was a minor accident but also, hilarious.

R/R: Popped a positive OPK last night! This is actually the earliest I have ever got a positive in a cycle which is exciting for a couple reasons - my last cycle was 43 days and I think it kills our chances bc by the time I actually O we are exhausted AND I had an HSG this cycle and I was worried that would somehow mess my cycle up for the worse. We also had "gourmet sex"

which is something to rave about when it is usually roll over and let's get this done lol It's been 10 months guys... the romance of all this is long gone for me.

CS/Q: No but my preO temps are a bit high which is odd but we have been sleeping with just the windows open. Idk.

GTKY: What story does your family always tell about you? Oh god, at this point I think even MH rolls his eyes whenever he hears it because my parents ALWAYS tell the same story about me. I was the kind of toddler you could take anywhere. My parents traveled all over the country with me and I never cried on a plane etc. Well my Pop-pop was apparently a bit of a high roller in his day and he asked us to meet him for dinner at one of super fance restaurants in one of the casinos in AC. My mom said that it was essentially a record screech and stares when they showed up with a baby and even the wait staff was initially annoyed because they had to find me a high chair. But I sat there (in some ridiculously fancy dress) the whole time just looking around and smiling and by the end the waitresses were bringing me strawberries dipped in brown sugar to eat and other diners were coming up to them. I think they cherish that memory because the rest of my childhood was mayhem. My brother came along and then my sister 18 months later and, well, we were terrors and the best of friends.

Hey all, Just stopping in to say Im heading over to TWW, FF gave me CH today even though I think they are wrong on my O date (and if I add in a high temp tomorrow they move), but I am 99% sure I O'd the day after CH (all signs point to yes).

But I Love the GTKY today so Ill play: My Dad always loved to tell people about my bald spot on my head. When I was born (not totally sure why) the plates on my skull were softer than usual, and when they did form, for some reason I developed a bald spot. Its about the size of a half dollar coin, in the middle of my head. But My Dad would always tell my friends that if you touched it, it would make my left leg twitch. So of course my friends would ask about it, and try to touch it (its hard), but to their surprise its kinda weird feeling (very waxy) so they would only try once.

My Grandpa has passed now but he used to always tell a story about when we lived in New York and he came to visit us. We were on the subway and I was in my stroller behind a partition. The train was packed and I was singing my ABCs at the top of my lungs. All the grumpy people riding the subway started to smile and look around. He told the story really cute and I used to get so sick of hearing it but now that he's gone it's a special memory to me, even though I don't remember the actual day.

But god my uterus. *TMI warning* Last night I had a little bit of blood when I went to the bathroom and after cramping all night I thought for sure I would wake up to full blown surfing the crimson wave. And still... Not a damn thing. I wouldn't be so frustrated if I didn't feel like there was a gorilla sitting on my pelvis. But it's like AF is raging out down there but she just won't get on with it. *End rant*

When I was around a year old and just learning to walk, I tripped and fell and when I landed I bit a hole through my tongue. My mom always talks about how it grossed her out for while when she would feed me because of the hole. I still have a scar on my tongue.

GTKY: What story does your family always tell about you? Well... this is sort of a FFFC, buttttt... My family always tells this story about when I was like 5 and shoved popcorn up my nose and didn't tell anyone but it got super infected and started to smell and was all gross and yucky. The confession part is that it wasn't popcorn, but foam from inside my mattress. I'd put it in my nose and then blow it out for fun, but that one got stuck.

@purplg8r Good luck with your party! Chances are everyone won't be able to make it, so hopefully you won't be too overrun at any given time! For food, can you just do a lot of pizza and call it good? GTKY: What story does your family always tell about you? Hmm, oh so many! They like to recount how I called snow mashed potatoes the first time I looked outside and saw it. They like to tell people how I kissed all the goats at a petting zoo. My mom loves to tell how at my kindergarten screening, by the time I got the last person (who ended up being my teacher), when she asked me my name I said "Can't you read it? It's right on those papers!" lol Because she was about the tenth person to ask me what my name was and all that jazz. There are just too many and they get progressively worse as I get older lol

@NYTino24 I don't have any words of wisdom, but "nearly positive OPKs" and stress about stressing H out and missing the window are all of my concerns, too. I feel you.
@purplg8r Can you make food that a) is easy to make in large quantities, b) people can serve/assemble themselves in the kitchen, c) you'd be ok with having leftovers of? Chili (a veggie and meat option), tacos (like @lulu1180 suggests too!), or pasta have all worked well for me in the past! Add a big salad and put out a few dressings and you're good to go! GL!

@JuneRoseRuby I personally would use the later temp (the one from 6am, the usual time you temp), but make a note of both so you can plug either in and see how it effects your chart.

I'm hoping I O today since CP is HS (no idea if open though..) and my wondfos are getting darker (hoping this mid-day/this afternoon I'll catch the surge). I guess best thing will be to see what my temp does the next 3 mornings! Hoping for a spike because I'm losing it over here big time (starting to feel like we need a TW for CH announcements which is INSANE, I know!!). On the theme of looking for silver linings, at least this charting thing helps me partially understand why I'm not KU yet: I clearly have no idea how long my luteal phase is and my cycles are irregular so OF COURSE I haven't hit my FW.

When I was a toddler I would put everything in my mouth and one time at a party at my house I walked over to my mom with an unhappy look on my face, opened my mouth, and showed her a partially crunched up, still alive, snail in my mouth. Apparently I liked the crunchy bit but not so much the slimy part... My mom says it's one of the grossest things she ever saw/had to deal with haha

Dear diary, i'm just confused. I've had flashing smiley on my CBAFM for four day in a row. I was expecting to get a full smiley today, and O tomorrow. So maybe my timing was a day off. Or maybe my cycle changed this month. Or maybe I only get a full smiley the day that i'm going to O and not 24-36 hours before. Lastly, we're having sex EOD right now (except we still want -1, 0, +1) and what if CBAFM is wrong and we miss our window. Sigh... I guess out timing will still be okay either way.

@motherhubbard19 I've seen preseed at most drug stores, but it's also on amazon (isn't everything)?! And @lulu1180 posted the BBT info on yesterday's WTO in response to @SaphireSweetie88 I think: most women on here use the Mabis that you can get on amazon. I personally use one from Target that seems to be fine, but who knows. Whatever you get, make sure it's a BBT specific thermometer that goes to the hundredth. GL!

@NYTino24 When I tested 1x per day, I only had a dark OPK on one Wondfo, when I tested 2x per day, I could see a surge for 12-24 hours (meaning that I turned 4 tests, but you could see the progressive darkening and then lightening).

CS/Q: When I was on BC (pill) I pretty much only cramped for the first couple days of AF. I've been off BC for 3+ cycles now, and I have cramping of some type pretty much EVERY DAY all cycle long. It ranges from mild aching to the occasional sharp pain. My ob/gyn is unconcerned. Anyone have experience with this? Input?

GTKY: What story does your family always tell about you? Oh man. Lots to choose from. I was a horse crazy little girl (still am!), so when I was about 3 or 4 my mom would take me trail riding on her friend's horses. I rode double with my mom since I was so little. After one of our rides, my mom got off and was taking the horse's bridle off and getting it tied to the hitching post before she got me off. Apparently a bee or wasp stung the horse because he spooked and bucked. Of course I went flying and sprained my thumb (no idea how I injured my thumb of all things). I cried and fussed, and my mom assumed that this would be the end of my horse loving days. But no, through my tears and pain, I actually asked to get back on the horse. My mom loves telling this story to illustrate the BSC that engulfs horse people.
