I did not watch the debates, but I'm still seeing the aftermath on FB. I don't think everyone needs to go to college. However, I do believe we need to stop "social promotion" in the lower grades. If you don't pass, it's usually because you didn't put in enough effort. Teachers are evaluated based partly on student test scores, so it punishes educators when you give them a child who is 3-4 years behind! Give the teachers the power to get kids classified with disabilities if they exist and hold kids / parents to an attendance policy. Stop letting kids drop out without graduating high school! It's a nasty cycle and then people want to do minimum wage jobs / can't get a better job due to lack of education.

ETA My UO:

People who disclaim a hurtful thought or opinion with "just sayin" deserve a throat punch. It does not make it ok to just say whatever ugly thing pops into your head.

@JulesDP I hear that, or people who say "i'm just being honest/real". Honesty is great and all, but sometimes you can just not say anything and spare someone's feelings!

On that same token though, my UO is that I don't like cheese on vegetables. Doesn't matter the cheese or the vegetable.

@kat0607 I don't like cheese on vegetables, either! As a child, I remember refusing to eat broccoli with cheddar cheese sauce on it- I much preferred just the broccoli.

@motherhubbard19 I don't like Star Wars either and my DH is a die hard fan. Although I will say that I watched the newest movie with him and it was really good, considering I'm not a fan of the others/don't know anything about Star Wars.

@TinyTurtle that's so funny! I'm not the biggest fan of bacon either, I can only eat it every once in a while. But I know it is LIFE for some people...

@TinyTurtle I dislike bacon as well, and people usually seem shocked when I tell them that.

Apparently this is a (an?) UO: I don't see the harm in sending a quick text at work. Like... as long as you're getting your work done and not ignoring clients for your phone, I see taking 30 seconds to send a text once or twice an hour as no more harmful to the business than someone who goes outside for a smoke once or twice an hour.

@Dilynne I completely agree! My boss doesn't care that I have my phone out on my desk or that I use it on occasion during the day as long as I am getting my work done and in a timely manner

Totally agree with you @Dilynne If people can take 15 minute smoke breaks every few hours then there is nothing wrong with sending a quick text or... Bumping while at work! As long as you are still getting work done.

Unlike my coworker who sits at her desk watching Friends on her phone for half the day.

I really like cloudy, foggy, rainy days.

It might be because I grew up in Colorado where clouds and rain were really kinda rare.

@NYTino24 the debates to me are such a crap show. It's like they are both talking out of their arses.
@JulesDP I can't stand "just saying". You knew it was rude and adding just saying on is not a good way to lessen the rudeness.
@kat0607 cheese on veggies is plain gross. Ew. DDH likes it but he is also a trash compactor.
@dilynne I totally agree with you. My manager is pretty relaxed about it but if she sees you are constantly on your phone then it is an issue.
@LuND I love that kind of weather! It comforts me, and I am from Ohio/Michigan.

UO: I think the Bachelor/Bachelorette/similar shows are all so STUPID. Like I don't even care for the drama in them.

@LuND I completely agree with you! I LOVE rainy days. I honestly prefer them over sunny days. I love any excuse to stay in my pjs and watch movies all day. Make it a COLD rainy day with some chili or stew... Perfection.

@osucma I think that was my UO a few weeks ago. I hate those shows!!

@osucma @motherhubbard19 I used to watch those shows religiously and then a year or two ago just got really sick of seeing the same thing over and over and quit watching.
