Strollers - the real low down....

Ok, can anyone on here provide some real insight into the billions of stroller options? So overwhelming.  I live in New England - so we have snow, semi-suburbia with a couple parks within walking distance.  Sidewalks aren't the best & some are dirt.  Family has a farm so it'll need to be able handle various terrain & outdoor activities (we spend a lot of time outdoors).  Beaches nearby as well.

The Uppa baby vista is intriguing, especially as it can accommodate multiple children, but those front wheels look small?  How will they handle snow or sand?

I liked the BOB but it's quite long for errand running?

On on the opposite end of the spectrum I plan on an inexpensive umbrella stroller.  I'd love to stick to two strollers.

Re: Strollers - the real low down....

  • I picked the stroller that was compatible with the car seat. I was really happy with it - the britax b-safe (caraeat) and b-agile (stroller) combo. It was a jogger stroller, so it maneuvered really well.  It honestly was a lifesaver to have the car seat compatibility!

  • For the exact reasons you mentioned, I ended up with the uppababy vista and bob. I lived in CT until this past year.  I'm pregnant with my 3rd now.  I love how the uppababy grows with your family. Even when this baby comes, I'll be able to put all of them in it because I have the skateboard too. The bob is probably my favorite stroller for walking. It maneuvers very well and it's a smooth ride. I also run, which is the reason I got the bob in the first place. When I would go to the store or airport I would use the vista because it is less bulky.

Check out Lucie'a List (lucieslist.com) in case you haven't already. She gives a ton of recommendations for every price point and thorough reviews. Highly recommend. That site helped me immensely when choosing things like strollers, car seats, etc. I do want to point out that the B-Agile from Britax isn't really considered to be a jogging stroller as previously stated. I have that stroller and it does maneuver very easily and I like it, but because the tires aren't "real" tires, it's not really recommended for rough terrain. It is a good stroller for everyday use though.
  • If I were doing it again I would get the City select and upgrade to the second seat with baby #2, but I do love my double bumbleride too.
  • I have the chicco travel system, the bob and the umbrella. I used the chicco for the smallest window of time, but am grateful to have it again for this newborn phase. Bob for walks, workouts, and harder terrain, and umbrella for those quick times when you're not sure if you'll even need a stroller. This was all for convenience for me, if you're looking for only 2 strollers I'd go for a lighter single stroller and the bob.

Going to get the double bob and that's possibly it as far as double strollers go. Too many strollers already!

  • I'm registering for the Uppababy Vista and can't wait to get it... I researched this extensively because like you I would like to keep baby items to a minimum!  I feel that the Vista is worth the investment due to the versatility, and I also registered for the Uppababy infant car seat to make it easy.  In terms of an umbrella stroller, I am going with the Uppababy G-Luxe - I tried it at Buy Buy Baby and I love how it handles well and all of my gear will match haha.  It also reclines which is a plus for a napping baby.
